Mets have been good at beating up on the bad teams, Braves have been better:

vs ≥.500 At Start of Series
NYM 38/W-29/L, .567/W-L%
ATL 31/W-33/L, .484/W-L%

vs <.500 At Start of Series
NYM 51/W-23/L, .689/W-L%
ATL 56/W-20/L, .737/W-L%

The season may come down to that road trip to Milwaukee and Oakland. Milwaukee has been playing better at home and we may have to face Burnes and Woodruff. Not an easy series.

Thats why I don't buy the Braves are just better narrative. I think one measuring stick is how it stacks up head to head. Then how you do when facing the other better teams. We have the edge in both.

Very nice series win and thanks Seattle!! This seems like it'll be coming down to our H2H and then the last few games after.

The next 7 games are huge. 7 games against Cubs/pit has to be 5-2 at worst. good chance that Atl will be either 4-3 or 3-4 in their 7.
Then Mil/Oak/Mia = Nats/Phils/Nats

Would love to have 2 games up on Braves going into our series. But will be a gut wrenching next couple of weeks
If we can get the lead up to 2 prior to the ATL series, and take 2 of 3 then, we close them out. The final series would be meaningless. We'd be up 3 and own the tiebreaker.

If we're up 2 and only take one against ATL, we're still in good shape. We'd go into the final series up 1 and still own the tiebreaker. Magic number 2.

Over the next two and a half weeks (15 games), getting the lead to 2 is all important. Anything more is a bonus.

We gave up two guys with zero trade value (Davis and Szapucki) and two lottery tickets.

The problem is not what we gave up. The problem is that Ruf has produced nothing. We know that he's not as bad as he's shown. No major leaguer could be! Eventually he'll revert to the back of his baseball card. But can we wait for that? Especially since his baseball card isn't all that great anyway.
Sorry Worm wanted to come back to this. There is a problem that we gave up 4 players for an old split platoon bat.

The back of his baseball card doesn't mean much when you're 36 years old and played in Korea for 3 years prior to the Covid season.

I hate to use the term but this trade should be a lesson on bad process for a front office. Overpaid when they could have filled through system.

BA did another Top 100 update.

#6 Alvarez
#26 Baty
#50 Parada
# 88 Ramirez

Former Mets

#46 Pete Crow-Armstrong
#99 Endy Rodriguez

Endy was the prospect we gave up in the Lucchesi deal.

I am actually surprised PCA didn't move even further. Kid has been producing everywhere

I'd like to stop the Waaaaaaaaaahmbulance to be the first and the last to congratulate Givens on two solid innings. 🦗 🦗 🦗 🦗
And nice defensive play by McCann. 🦗🦗🦗🦗🦗

Suppose the Mets are tied with the Braves-or even a game behind them-going into the last day of the season?
Does Buck gamble and start deGrom, knowing that the second wild card team has their top two starters ready to go at Citi Field?
The reaction and their decisions to this season's post season schedule will make managers earn their money.

Have to go all-in on winning the division. The bye would be huge.

As Ringo Starr sung: "It don't come easy"......Our Mets love putting us thru torture in September....

But as bad as Ruf has been and he's been brutal Keith had to school Cohen in that you don't throw a rookie with 5 career at-bats into that bases loaded, tying run at the plate spot as a pinch hitter.
