After giving the Mets two scoreless innings and earning a W, Jake Reed was sent down between games. IF Gosuke Katoh up.

No good deed goes unpunished.

First pitch to Escobar had to curve in just to get to being 2-3 inches outside
Maybe previous pitcher was so horrible walking 3 that ump lost strike zone
(or) the ump sucks and robot umps yesterday !!!

Announcers are wrong. Rodriguez does not have to pitch to the first two batters this inning. The three batter rule does not carry over across innings.

EDIT: However, once he pitched to the first hitter, that put the rule back into play, and he had to pitch to the second

Nido can’t make transition from glove to hand . Dropped a few tonight.
Now he just dropped 2 balls
200 hitters need to Ozzie smith and brodeur combined behind the plate

Nido drops ball when they said he had good chance to throw out runner
Then a pass ball gets runner to third
Runner doesn’t score on ridiculous cheap infield hit

Mets need , correction , NEED a real major league catcher

Nimmo second on team with RBIs and runs scored.
Alonso up there too, but as noted sucking lately.
Nimmo, Canho, McNeil and Marte are the only "consistent" hitters for "this team."

The story continues to be a very inconsistent offense. That more than anything has led to a middling 5-5 record in the last 10. Thats good enough for now. But wont be if any of the 3 teams chasing us gets on a good run

Alonso sucks lately
For a while when he had his average up around .280 i thought this might be the year that he showed himself to be a more disciplined, well-rounded and consistent hitter who can maintain an average in the 270-280 range. Nope he will wind up 250-260 area again with lots of at-bats like the one that ended the last Seattle game.

Pretty cool. Didn't even know until recently that there was a Sugar baby who also pitches.

Picked him up on my fantasy team. Good stats.

Inconsistent offense is an enigma. Doesn’t help when we have no catchers who can produce / DH has been weak / SS who is trying his best to be someone he is not / and Alonso has little protection.

Thank goodness for our pitching !

Dude where did you get Nimmo second on the team in rbi's?
That should have been Lindor. Fans need to calm down shitting on Lindor.
Alonso needs to step it up.
LOL- I see I slipped up and typed Canho instead of Canha too.

Cano drove in some runs for San Diego last night--Mets should have kept him instead of Lindor. 😜

Some Met OPS stats. (I consider OPS the most comprehensive stat)

Nimmo: .855
Alonso: .797
McNeil: .794
Guillorme: .765
Canha: .758
Marte: .714
Lindor: .709
Team Average: .705
NL Average: .696

Escobar: .686
Davis: .625
Jankowski: .577
McCann: .551
Smith: .538
Nido: .461

Also note that hitting is down leaguewide. In 2019, the NL average OPS was .753. It is now .696.

Reactions: cicero grimes
Scherzer threw a bad slider and takes himself out in the middle of the AB. That's not great.
