Your right,pitching is key, but fragile as any Mets fan can tell you. Pretty sure your hardly the lone Yankee fan that didn't want Stanton,lol. For a guy who will probably hit 50 HR's and drive in 100 rbi's he must think this is the most ungrateful fan base in sports!!! I'd much rather have a team that has everyday players that are tremendous and try to use a workable pitching staff. It will carry you for 162, but might/will cost you in the postseason. Your Yankees are following this path, and even seem to have found a couple of young pitchers to couple with aging proven pitchers.The margin is razor thin and keeping a team playing as well as the Yankees are for entire season, and then carry it through the post season is rare.How the young kids handle the pressure,and the health of the pitching, is never money in the bank.
About the Mets 2015 run, the front office did everything possible to sabotage the team but somehow went to the WS despite Terry Collins' mind numbing moves, Dan Werthen's strategy to rip every pitchers arm off their UCLs and rotator cuffs, Sandy Alderson insistence in bringing in the wrong type that they didnt need, luckily he got Good Cespedes instead of Pissed Off CarGo. They Mets front office seemed to be so pissed off that they put Daniel Murphys value and reputation in a toilet, WHILE HE WAS THE HOTTEST HITTER IN THE FREAKING PLAYOFFS.
And while other orgs have locked in Mike Trout and other young players to extensions early in their careers, deGrom and Syndergaard will be traded for middle relievers with 2 UCL surgeries because they dont think degrom is worth 4/$100M. Or at least offer that as a starting point.

Everyday players get you to the playoffs. Pitching wins playoffs. The Yankees last run was a perfect example. Great lineups. But Jimmy Key, El Dugue, Cone, Wells, Andy were lights out starters. I'd trade Stanton for anyone of those guys in their prime in a second. Short series its all about pitching.

What month did the Yankees bail on their team when they traded Chapman? May wasn't it? Then they went on a nice run, and would have made the post season,talk about a miss judgement by management,ownership, and fandom=EPIC FAIL.

The Yankees have the best record in MLB. They have the youngest team in MLB. They have the most talent in their minor league system.
The Mets have one of the worst records in MLB. They have one of the oldest teams in MLB. They have the weakest minor league talent.

All of the major contenders will make moves between now and the end of July and IMO injuries will play a significant part in how things turn out.
