OT: Post different types of beer you've tried, and how it was.

Technically not a beer I guess, but tried the John Daly's half iced tea/lemonade yesterday. Good taste, but 8% might hurt ya in the long run.

Magnify Impatiently Waiting was good, but not great and not as good as the YYKM variant that I had, which wasn't anything special either. I still don't get all the Magnify hype. Kane and Troon blow away Magnify for NJ stouts/porters.
I think the hype with Magnify is with their IPA's which are top notch. As for some new Easter beers I had 3 IPAs from Magnify which were of course very good, Before We Disappear and DDH Extremely Low Visibility. Their Vertigo was also good but not as good as these two. Followed those with Evil Twin's Chili Hazelnut Break an imperial stout, fantastic. Manayunk's Mint Chocolate Chip was average at best, not a big fan. Stone's new Exalted IPA doesn't match up to some of their IPAs but still very drinkable. Blue Point's Old Howling Bastard was a solid barleywine. Czig Meister's Tiramisu Milk Porter I was hoping was better but decent. The best beer of the day was probably Evil Twin's Double Barrel Aged Imperial Mexican Biscotti Cake Break, a sipper of a beer that ranks up there with most anything I have had before.

Made a long weekend trip to Boston and on the way there stopped at Tree House Brewing... there was a two hour wait for cans so I didn’t stick around. I was aware that there is often a long line and didn’t have the intention of waiting, but figured being so close from the interstate might as well try.

Was able to pick up a few 4 packs at Trillium Brewing in Boston. Looking forward to trying them out soon.

I just stayed right by there this weekend at the Westin and had no idea it was so close!!! I am kicking myself and am sick to my stomach right now for not going.

On the road I had a Fat Tire at a restaurant in Walterboro,SC. with my meal.Really enjoyed the Beer. Next day I had the runs. Probably the Food,

Just had some Fat Tire.. company lists 2 locations, Ft. Collins CO and Asheville NC.. for some reason I think this was from Asheville.. bought in Florida. Liked it much... but I like Belgian style stuff so maybe it is just that. IIRC, it was less than a $1 a bottle for 24 at costco.. good deal. No runs. Am sick of this IPA fad. IPAs taking up too much shelf space everywhere now.

Anyone get 18 KBS yet? I'm looking for 18 Lagunitas The Waldo's.
Scored 2 bottles of KBS yesterday. $10.99 each. Haven't tried yet. Still have a bottle of 17 KBS in my basement. Was probably going to do a side by side. Also, was told by the owner of a local restaurant that does a lot of crafts that they'll have KBS on tap this weekend.

Montauk Summer Ale.
Great beer but can only be bought in New York State.

This used to be my buddies favorite beer back in the day. Pretty sure the NC brewery is relatively new, as it was impossible to get this beer on the east coast a couple years ago.

But I drink it now and can't figure out what he was thinking. Granted he would drink it back in the day, long before the craft beer movement got a foothold in the east.

Now I'm a big IPA'r but agree with you, I would like to see more variety on the shelves. Having 10+ different IPA's is overkill.

Been brewing my own the past couple months. Still doing the extract's which I def see as half assing it, but my buddy(same as above) is the ring leader so I'm willing to follow for now.

My first recipe was a Belgian Blonder which is not something I would typically drink, and I wasn't in love with it at first, but it grew on me with time. Think I might go back to it soon.

Brewed a porter, which I didn't dig too much. And recently drank a Stone's chocolate-chile pepper mexican stout that I thought was pretty similar.

We've settled on Kane's Head High IPA as our go to recipe. A relatively easy, and cheap recipe that has produced very good results. Interestingly I've liked our brew more then I enoyed Kane's.

I've seen a lot more of the KBS the last week. I wonder if they're producing more this year?
I think part of it is that there is so much good local beer in NJ these days that the KBS release isn't the big event that it used to be with people chasing trucks from one store to the next.

The Waldo’s Special Ale from Lagunitas should be hitting the shelves and taps in the next few days. A triple ipa at 11.3%, it sells here at Total Wine for $ 12 a six pack. It won’t last long.

Triple's are a little strong for me. But that alcohol to $$ ratio is solid.

Typically I like to sit in the 7's for my abv.

The Asheville location has been open about two years. Fat Tire was my gateway craft beer when I lived in Denver in the 90s.

That's probably a IPA vs Belgian style preference rather than this beer being bad. While not as good as your real Belgians.. this is pretty good at a fraction of the price. The high-brow lo-bro-haters might look down their noses.. but the taste is there, imho.

If anyone finds Lagunitas the Waldos can you please post where you found it.

Last year Total Wine in FL got their allocation mid April just after tax day. A few beer bars here are advertising Waldo on tap next weekend. Call ur local craft beer retailer and ask when they expect to have it in stock.

At our local store they will not stock it on the shelves. They hold it behind the customer service desk and only give it to those that ask for it. I’m sure a one six pack limit.

Got 18 KBS and 18 The Waldo's for the Spring Game tomorrow. Also 17 Big Bad Baptista, 17 Triple Barrel Baptist, and 17 BA Victory at Sea.

Gary's in Madison has KBS bombers for $20.99. It's definitely easier to get. There are so many good NJ (& other) craft beers now.
It took NJ a while, but they're closing the gap fast on Philly/NYC in terms of distro. Bell's is launching in the summer, and I think they're trying to get Fat Heads in NJ as well. The ultimate dream would be Prairie in NJ.

NJ needs to get Perennial, Prairie and Funky Buddha.

I like Trillium an awful lot. You should come up and visit again in the summer, when their beer garden is open (right on the Rose Kennedy Greenway, near Rowes Wharf). They also travel quite a bit with their beer wagon. They showed up at my town's annual BBQ Festival, and they were a huge hit. They're growing a lot .. and fast.

Well for anyone looking for Waldos or KBS, Petrocks Liquors in Hillsborough on Amwell Rd has them. Was just there at lunch and picked some up.

Right by me. I might have to try these Waldo's.

Anyone have the Sixpoint Resin Triple 11.4%?

I’m seeing the Waldos on Beer Menus pretty available in bottles. I’m not a huge Triple IPA guy, so I’ll try to scope it out on draft.

I read about the Beer Garden during my visit and would like to visit again when it is open.

I’ve enjoyed the beers I brought back with me. Hope that they distribute at some point in the future.

That timeline and location is the same as the guy I'm talking about.

Back then I remember drinking and liking long trail double baggers. I guess Sam Adams too, though aside from my initial taste of winter lager I was never that into Sammy's.

The double bagger was probably my gateway beer.

I've found that Magic Hat #9 is often the gateway beer for many folks.
