OT: Post different types of beer you've tried, and how it was.

My gateway beers were Peche Mortel and Stone Imperial Russian Stout. The guy at the store asked what I was looking for and I told him I'm just getting into it and don't really know what I'm looking for yet. He told me I was jumping into the deep end with those choices, but I bought them anyway and really enjoyed them. I never liked light lagers so I guess it made sense that my gateway beers were about as far away from a light lager that you can possibly get.

For me, I would say Yuengling and Brooklyn Lager introduced me to non-light beers (although I would drink a good amount of Heineken), but it was Oscar Blues Dale's Pale Ale that made me never grab a light beer again.

Having a Einstock Dopplebock that's been hiding in my fridge since the Army/Navy game. Some beers age incredibly and this is one of them. Frigging awesome

Peche Mortel as a gateway beer? Impressive...there are seasoned craft beer fans who don't know about Dieu Du Ciel. Montreal is a gem for beer fans.

Nola Brewing from New Orleans (of course) launches distro in Philly via Nevulis. Those guys have been on fire since they landed Singlecut.

Neshaminy launching a dunkel lager this week. I usually hit Maifair at Brauhaus Schmidtz on South Street in May, same day as the Kentucky Derby.

Yes have had it already. Great. Also great news for German style kolsch beer fans. They are canning the Passive Thought Kolsch. Release date soon.

To be fair, this was in 2010 when some Dieu Du Ciel beers could be found on shelves around here. It's been a while since I've seen them at a store in New Jersey.

Once the calendar turns to spring and the temperature starts to rise, I almost exclusively drink German style beers. Bocks, pilsners, dunkels, lagers, kolsches, hefeweizens. I'm not a sour fan so I don't go for stuff like goses or Berliner weisses.

Been a fan of Rogue beer for some time. Anything they put out that I've tried, has been very good.

This one is my fave:

Also, I'm sure it's been mentioned, but Demented Brewing, in Middlesex, has a great lineup of beers. I like them better than Twin Elephant, in Chatham. TE has the bigger tap room, but Demented's beers are better, IMO.

Funky Buddha is in VA now. It's slowly making its way north.

Living in FL, Funky Buddha is mainstream here. I don’t view it as a desirable craft brand, although some here do.

Which beers from FB are you looking forward to getting in distro ?

Dunkle and Kolsch can released tomorrow at brewery. Going to be around?

grabbed a bottle of Dogfish 120 minute IPA. Never had it but have heard hype. Local liquor store has about 6 bottles yet. Not sure if I should grab them. Thoughts?

Don't drink it now. Or grab 2 have one now and the other 6 months + Or more. Store in a dark place or the back of your fridge. Very boozie fresh. Mellows over time. Terrific top beer when aged

I actually prefer it fresh but then again I generally prefer most age-able beers fresh anyway. If you only buy one, maybe hold onto it for a year and then buy another one next year. Then you can drink them both around the same time and find out if you prefer it fresh or aged.

Got some Alchemist Heddy Topper and Crushed in today.

I hear the Heddy Topper is amazing. I just picked up Bolero Snort One Hoof in Front of the Other and Founders KBS 22oz.
They had the 120 minute by Dogfish Head for $34 for a 4 pack. I passed on that.

Heddy Topper is great but so overrated based on the fact of how they sell it. Kane IPA's are just as amazing if not better.

It's Heady Topper, not "Heddy" lol.

EDIT: As much as I love Kane, I don't think any of their IPAs are in the realm of Heady Topper. However, I have had Pliny the Younger, which for a while was considered the top IPA in the world until Heady Topper took that reputation, and I felt as though Kane's Overhead was very comparable if not better.

Haha yeah I realized I just copied what person above me had. For me like I said Heady is a great one but people think it's better than it is because of how they distribute it. They've made it so you think it's special because you can hardly get it.
