OT: Prime Time will crash and burn

Last year Sanders told his players "I'm almost 60 and don't have time for you to mature!"

At RU its "third year for the mastery" while holding "young" players hands

If players on a D1 team have talent you want to stress them to bring it out - not treat them like a toxic spill ready to happen.
That’s a theme (quick and now) I’ve seen more lately with coaches’ comments…same for Cignetti and some others Ive come across.

It does help, in his case anyway, he came to Bloomington with a “wallet” in some of his best players from JMU and a newly funded NIL war chest.

As I’ve said before, and I will repeat again, whether you like him or not, or agree with his ways, the guy gets results and as a proven track record of winning

He came from nothing and built an empire, and was one of the all-time great in the NFL. I would not bet against him

When Pete Carroll was at USC he made it a point to start a freshman every year.
I'm not saying to just throw the whole playbook at players.
You can can just start the ball rolling without looking at players as liabilities waiting to take the team down.
Make players grow their skills and develop confidence.

JMU players and others from places like WF would be panned by a lot of people (not me) as not B10 worthy. Only now it hindsight, it’s played up.

Their qb Rourke who has been at the top of the country in pass efficiency iirc was recruited by WF, BYU and Vandy when he entered the portal.

He’s doing with it with players most didn’t want.

As far as NIL, yea I’ve seen the figure of 3M but who knows how much of that is real and true. No one knows what’s what in the world of NIL for IU and anyone else for that matter. Real, misleading or lies…don’t know, as I posted in that Bloomberg article.

Well he’s good at it…

Coaching and finding and more importantly developing that talent.

And while maybe he’s not dealing with a blank check, it’s nice to know you’re not going to bounce it.

He’s good at it.. “Google him” lol

But it’s 1 year and he’ll have to retool again next year if he’s still there as some of his players are veterans. Consistency is where the real proof lies.

I like him though and his personality. If you read his quotes without seeing his interviews you might think arrogant or brash. But I’ve seen a handful of his interviewes and he’s just a blunt straightforward guy. I don’t see arrogance or brashness.

He’s done pretty good at every level he’s been at. Google does agree.

But I also agree with many who say, let’s see it continue at this level with everything that comes along before he becomes more than just the shiny new thing.

If they’re that good and can help you win, why wouldn’t you.

But just to put a guy out there? Eh.

Elon Musk said something interesting about self-driving cars.
He mentioned that many people hear about the accidents caused by the cars but not the accidents prevented .
That was an interesting take that might apply to turnovers.

RU lives in fear of the turnover but what if being more aggressive creates 3 extra TDs along with a turnover?
Wimsatt's best skill was running but RU coaches would have none of that.
I recall a bunch of B1G announcers saying GW should run in the game more - then he didn't.

RU leaves points on the field in every game because of red zone failures.
The Hello Kitty, offensive safteyism gets very tedious - try a shovel pass or something like most other teams.
Why would a top player want to come to RU and sit at the kiddie table for 2 years learning how to "be safe."

"Fortune favours the bold" is an old saying but at RU its like "fortune turns to mold."

I always want the mantra & mindset changed from "The ball is the program" to "scoring is the program"

Yes.. Indiana has well-heeled basketball fans and supporters they can lean on. I wonder what Mark Cuban donated to the cause.

Heard some stats on Colorado on the CFE pod.

In 2022 they lost 11 games by an avg of 32.4 pts/gm. Opponents scored 50 more TDs than they did. 9 coaches (assuming that includes interims after firings) in the last 16 yeara or so and 16 of 17 years were losing seasons (guess McEntyre’s flash in the pan 10 win season was the one).

TT, Utah, Kansas and Ok St are left. I think they should be able to get 2 more wins out of that. 8 win season is a nice season if they can get it.

There’s interest because it is a clown show. I called it exactly as it is playing out. He will be gone before he finishes a fourth season.
Welp they literally just clinched a Playoff spot, in year 2 of inheriting a 1-11 roster.

Do you prefer your Crow to be prepared fried or broiled?

Colorado was one of, if not the, worst P5 program in the country. They are now on cusp of possible playoff game.

Rutgers doesn't belong in any conversation with them. We're in Year 6? and still don't have enough talent or depth. Schiano stinks.

They haven’t clinched a spot in the playoff. They haven’t clinched the B12 title game even.

What they have is control of their destiny. Keep winning and they’re in the B12 title game, win that and they’re in the playoffs.

So what? They're not 2-4 in conference and lucky to finish .500 in year SIX.

Maybe they make the playoff maybe they don’t. I can’t stand the guy and I watch his sons act the same…maybe worse. I’m surprised he’s done this well. Transfer portal has helped. The new college football has enabled him to get players and his son and the receiver kid are extremely good. I don’t expect him to be there long.

I mean you are what your record is, although if you dig a little deeper with the strength of schedule it is interesting. Certainly not smoke and mirrors.

But he has a QB, and when you have that…
Well SOS is what it is but as I’ve said when everyone makes fun of the B12 and the ACC, there are going to be teams that have good accomplishments and do things they haven’t done and make playoffs etc… There opportunity there for them.

They don’t get as much money but they’re largely competing against teams with the same resources so it doesn’t matter. Money is just a means to an end and the ends (rankings, playoffs, etc..) are reachable for many schools in those conferences.

So at the end of the day you're just a hater... The only reason he wouldn't be their long is if a better job comes calling, it certainly wouldn't be due to job performance.

Fried or Broiled Crow?

There schedule is no easier than ours has been this year. What's happened at Colorado in 2 years is so much bigger than simply Shadeur

Just a hater? Like you are of Schiano and Rutgers in general.

GTFO.

Someone's a little upset. I'll be the first to admit I'm likely the biggest Schiano Hater who is an alumni of Rutgers. I've also not said anything about him this year as it was quite clear how upset the old men on this board got at the idea that they could possibly be wrong about something. Hey if your cool with a 7 win cap in a season where almost the entire team was returning playing the easiest schedule we will ever see in this conference, well I suppose you're the type to settle for the midwestern 6 for a wife. Some of us have higher aspirations

We would probably be 8-2 right now if we were healthy.

Kinda like how Colorado didn't look so hot last year after their best players got bit by the injury bug. What was it again? Lost 8 of their last 9? Ended season losing their last 6?

Why is there a 7 win cap this season?
