OT: Rollercoaster Weather To Continue...

A 71 mph gust reported in Cream Ridge. Rain and wind just starting here...

lol, the map I posted must be having glitches, because it's now showing a 145 mph gust in central Ocean County - it's "live" so it won't show that for long...

4" of snow here in eastern Orange County NY (15 min north of Mahwah) and snowing...as of 555AM...incredible wind...whiteout conditions unlike we saw all winter...

...all those beautiful spring flowers and blooming trees...ruined!

F***!

Went outside, really disagree with the title of this thread this is more like skiing weather, not rollercoaster weather. But maybe people like riding rollercoasters in 20'degrees and wind.

Through the whiteout...crazy wind and blowing snow...I see a patch of fully yellow forsythia flattened out by the weight of the snow...what a sad and depressing sight...come in April sun...do your thing!!!

Will gladly trade places with you. Actually the snow should insulate the flowers from going below 32F and might actually save them.

JFK reported a 64 mph gust and gusts all over NJ in the 50-60 mph range. Should be a fun morning for soccer...

Feel free and take every molecule if you like...

That is hardly consolation...especially since 2-3" are forecast for Monday AM and low 20s for lows...it was 78F just Friday...so depressing

As far as temperatures for the week...the coldest days are today and Tuesday...am Tuesday looks to be the worst with low 20s rising to perhaps 40. Monday will be showery with temps around 50. Wednesday will still be below normal but upper 40s to near 50 will feel better. Thursday will be the warmest day of the week with highs in the upper 50s before another shot chilly weather sends temps back into the 40s over the weekend. Hopefully we get through this awful stretch and spring ahead the following week

Storm delivered. 1-3" of snow north of about I-80 (except for 4" at WPKnight's house, lol and 5" reported in Mahopac in Putnam County), i.e., generally in the Poconos, Sussex, NW Warren, NW Passaic, the Hudson Valley north of the Tappan Zee and interior CT. Central Park and EWR got a trace and some small dustings/coatings were observed between 80 and 78 and on LI.

More importantly, ferocious winds verified, with gusts up to 74 mph (minimal hurricane level) in Ocean County (near Bass River) and up to 64 mph in NYC (JFK), with many, many reports of gusts over 50 mph. About 53,000 lost power in NJ and many thousands more in NY/CT, due to downed trees and power lines. Certainly not Sandy level winds, but pretty serious winds for a frontal system and associated clipper in these parts.

Snow and wind reports from the NWS are below and here's a link to a report on the snow, winds and damage from Channel 7.

http://abc7ny.com/weather/accuweath...weather-moves-through-tri-state-area/1273590/

Tomorrow morning's snow looks to fall in the same places as this morning, with 1-2" likely north of about I-80 and maybe some coatings between 80 and 78, with only rain likely south of 78 (but I can hope, lol). Pretty serious cold snap coming up, too, for early April, with low temps around freezing tonight, then in the low/mid 20s on Tuesday/Wednesday mornings for most and then back down to the upper 20s for Saturday/Sunday mornings. Back to spring after that.

I don't know anything about snow, but we got a brief shot of hail in Yardville around ten after midnight. BB to pea sized.

Doesn't sound very fun to me. Cancel the wind, please.
Dude - how come you didn't show up? Afraid the wind would wreak havoc with your skirt and hairdo? >)

You missed a good game in some insane wind. The cones blew away and there some shots/passes that just got destroyed by the wind. Rodrigo hit a long shot from the side that I thought would be 5 feet wide, but I moved to save it anyway, since I was afraid of the wind - and it would've gone in, had I not played it - wind moved it at least 7-8 feet over 25 yards.

In case anyone's paying attention, this Saturday is likely the last chance for measurable snow in the Philly-NYC corridor, even for inland sections. Could be an inch or so north of I-80 (with isolated spots with 2", especially north of I-84, and maybe even 1/2" between the Raritan River and 80. Should mostly be on grassy/colder surfaces, but it's getting pretty late in April for snow...

not sure, I think he is sleeping on this one...we had a 5 page thread on a storm that gave my car top 1/468th of an inch, he might be gun shy this time
