Interesting that both the Patriots and Steelers appear to be cutting bait on 1st round QBs instead of paying them a huge 2nd contract just because they are already in the building.

It's smart and hopefully more teams realize this.

It's really nothing new. Probably about 25-30% of QB's drafted in the 1st round are moved to other teams as backups within 3-4 years. There has never been any shortage of guys like Blaine Gabbert, Blake Bortles, Sam Darnold, who never got that big mega deal that guys deemed as franchise QB's get. Every draft class has them. And those are the teams that are in the same situation a few years later. The Jets QB Wilson is headed that way now.
