OT: Sports Betting Thread

Just wondering what you're basing this on. I'm going to wait a day or two before jumping back in after the break to avoid wonky player usage.
Also, you can get this at -105 on DK.

mostly current starting pitcher form

Edward Cabrera had couple of starts after injury return...his last start had particularly good stuff in Cincy (tough stadium) they hit few mistakes for solo HRs. had 10 whiffs on only 63 pitches, K 7 with no walks...his stuff can be nasty. 16%SwStr rate is great.

on other side Manaea has been real consistent , six straight starts 3 er or less.

further, his numbers in innings 1-5 have been great, over last 5 starts :

AVGOBPSLGwOBA
.134.276.183.228

AVGWHIPBABIPLOB%FIPxFIP
.1341.00.17585.9%3.684.35

Also, Miami has been terrible vs lefties, bottom third in MLB wOBA in past month and dead last for entire first half.

Personally, I've found that doing your homework pays off. Checking stats, injury reports, and maybe even a bit of gut feeling can make a difference. It's all about finding that edge, right?I stumbled upon this forum while researching some strategies, and it's been quite the eye-opener. Seeing everyone's different approaches and stories is pretty cool. Makes you realize there's no one-size-fits-all in this game.Anyway, cheers to the adrenaline junkies and strategists out there! And hey, if you're diving into the sports betting world like me, maybe check out https://pafisamarinda.org for some extra tips and insights. Happy betting, folks!

I'm sorry, but I have to interject here in the hopes that no one listens to this. Stats and injury reports are factored into the lines. The books know way more than you do. Gut feeling has absolutely no place in gambling and will not end in winning over time.
The only way to consistently win is by using +EV gambling. Everyone who wants to use sports betting as a source of income should look it up. It takes time and discipline, but you can beat the books.

Anyone know if i can place bets on RU if i just leave the state of NJ and enter another state that allows online betting?
You can also do it on Fliff. It's not classified as a sportsbook, so they work around all the normal laws. Just read up on how it works before you deposit.

i've been betting the opposing Yankee starting pitcher walks over (usually they are set at 1.5, some guys 2.5) and has hit in at least 9 of 10

because of Judge and Soto though the over 1.5 usually ends up at -150 to -175 or higher. even for pitchers who avg 1 or less BBs per game.

yesterday for example best i found was Ceasers, opened at -130 and right before game i checked and was -154. today opened at -160, which is getting pretty nuts (and over long haul will get burned with that much juice)

Is that over for the game or the pitcher

Since I live in New Jersey, I’ve been looking at the online books, but there’s nothing at all listed for Rutgers. Is there a way that I can get this information, total victories, chances of being in the conference championship game, chances of winning the big 10 etc. If you don’t know all the way, but do you know the various propositions please post just to appease my curiosity. Thanks.

you just have to drive over PA border. Fanduel and DK both transition to PA version of app.

examples of offerings on PA Fanduel (formatting prob a mess but you get idea)

DK prob offers same, worth a look to see who has better numbers (and other PA books as well)

"Abuse by "angry sports bettors" is one of the most common types of harassment college athletes receive, making up at least 12% of publicly posted social media abuse, according to a new analysis conducted on behalf of the NCAA.

The NCAA partnered with data science company Signify Group, which analyzed social media accounts for more than 3,000 college athletes, approximately 500 coaches, 200 event officials and 165 teams during the 2024 College Football Playoff, men's and women's basketball tournaments, men's and women's College World Series and volleyball and gymnastics championships.

The NCAA, which will publish the full findings Thursday, released an excerpt on sports betting to ESPN on Tuesday."
