OT: Stock and Investment Talk

Why is that fine?
Banks always seem to be a mixed bag. Nothing unexpected. Good summary so far:

"Today's bank earnings were solid, with net interest income driving earnings, credit reserves significantly increasing year-over-year, and investment banking fees remaining low - all largely reflecting the interest rate and economic environment," said Peter Torrente, KPMG US National Sector Leader for Banking and Capital Markets.

In other earnings news, UNH crushed it. So, healthcare continues to roll along. HC and Biotech are great long plays right now.

That f-ing dumbass Musk is messing with my money-making with his damn price cuts. Guess he wants to share his lost wealth woes around as widely as possible.

Credible prediction for 2023 I heard on a podcast from one of his insiders- he takes StarLink public this year north of $125 billion to cure said “woes.” Seems like a pretty solid plan at this point.

too many headwinds, he needs to if he wants to remain competitive given declining mkt share in key mkts.

my biotechs have done very well since the recent lows. easy money there

I guess that, when one loses half one's wealth and is only left with a measly $125B (or whatever), that's the definition of a first-world problem. I wouldn't mind sharing in that sort of woe.

I should drop $20 on the $1.3B lottery today. Or just light the $20 on fire, same thing basically. 😃

Oh, I get the logic behind it.

Doesn't mean I have to like the impact on my holdings, temporary though it may be. 😃

I'm rocking biotech with LABU. Very happy so far. Also, my company's stock has been blowing up for months and my long-term 401k play is PRHSX (owned it since 2005!).

What are you doing?

I miss hearing about El Salvador and Bitcoin. I hope all is well with RUaldo, haven’t seen him posting here in a while
All good! Spent the last two months in El Salvador buying up virtual beach front properties along the Sun Coast and partying with President Bukele. Otherwise, just been sitting tight after year end tax loss harvesting. Trying to decide when to deploy some cash. I increased my cash position when my Fidelity MM was approaching 4%. My gut tells me that Q1/Q2 will have some good opportunities to start rebuilding again. Although really hard to tell right now what 2023 has in store.

So you are buying TSLA, BTC, and TQQQ? :)

The fun starts above 22. Sol up over 2x from its low.
I think SOL just crashed again. :)
For the time being, I will only rebuy via Fidelity, which is offering BTC and ETH. Coinbase seems like a good player, but I need to be sure.

Serious question to you and all crypto "investors":
What % of your portfolio is in this?
Right now? My crypto exposure is 0.0%. LOL!

Seriously, I had a small allocation in ETH and BTC in 2021 and 3x'ed my money (mostly due to ETH). Sold out on the first trading day of Jan 2022. Starting getting back in through the first half of last year, but things were going south. Got out fully after Voyager. Overall, I made about $40k in profit which is now being used in my fun account for TQQQ and other exciting plays.

Fidelity launched a crypto service. I will use them moving forward. They only have BTC and ETH as of now, which is fine with me. I trust them over an exchange or Grayscale. My plan is to tip-toe back in sooner, depending on market conditions (obviously).
