OT: Syracuse’s New Fieldhouse opening next month

Gavin Sidwar cares. That’s why he’s visiting Syracuse this weekend.

Maryland and Syracuse have passed us by thanks to their new Fieldhouse.
It’s simply about winning games, and we are not, and have not been doing that. It’s that simple. You can take our crappy offense, but if we were 6-2 or 7-1 right, the Fieldhouse doesn’t mean much. Have to win

To get to where we want to go, which is to ultimately to win championships, we need better classes so we can land recruits like Quincy Porter, who wouldn’t give Rutgers a 2nd look. We also need more 4 ⭐️ and 5 ⭐️ OL and DL, which have been elusive. Jaelyn Mathew’s is the first 4 ⭐️ OL we’ve landed, and he is in our incoming class.
Again GTFO with the championship crap. We just want to win 7 or 8 games with the best team we've had in year 5 against the easiest fracking schedule we've had since joining the league.

The offensive coaching is just fine. We need better execution between the quarterback and receivers.
How bout we actually return a punt or kickoff and actually try vs. this pvssy style of coaching no other team in the country uses.

We have a chance to do that. Let’s see what happens.

If everyone else has a strong Fieldhouse, it won’t provide an advantage. UCLA also has a very nice facility, which opened in 2017.

We are at a disadvantage because almost everyone else has a nicer facility, compared to ours. This puts us at a recruiting disadvantage.

Oregon’s facility was ranked #1, and they are expanding it. No wonder why they are currently ranked #1 in the country.

Oregon is ranked #1 because their players are elite and play at that level.. Their QB play alone is orders of magnitude better than what we've seen at RU. They turned Bo Nix, who was a bust at Auburn, into an NFL starter. That's coaching. Even if RU builds this magical fieldhouse, nothing will change until the coaching gets better.

Wouldn't you say Syracuse being in the ACC is a recruiting disadvantage compared to Rutgers?
Or Syracuse being located in a frozen tundra a recruiting disadvantage compared to Rutgers?
Or Rutgers having HC Schiano while Syracuse has HC Brown is a recruiting disadvantage for Syracuse?
Syracuse playing in an aging ugly dome compared to SHI Stadium?

Considering all these advantages Rutgers seemingly has, how is Syracuse opening 1 facility (which is an advantage over Rutgers) suddenly mean they've passed us as a program?

Explain why all that other stuff doesn't matter (specifically HC Schiano).

No it’s not coaching. The NFL game is about coaching. The college game is mostly about talent, until you have elite vs elite. Then coaching can come into play. Bo Nix is surrounded by elite talent at Oregon.

And Guess how they got elite players!! Money!! They built the best Fieldhouse Money can buy and then they paid Top dollar for the best transfers money can buy. Winning is important to their fanbase, and that is why they invested heavily in their program.

So who do we have equal talent to in the Big Ten?

Nobody (except you coincidentally) is saying we have Oregon or OSU or PSU talent.

Who are our peers in conference?
Surely we aren't still a bottom of the Big Ten school in talent in Year 5?

I’m not sure because we have a significant amount of injuries, so it’s hard to tell. It will depend on who plays Saturday.

How many of the multiple OCs that Schiano has brought in is in the same universe as Chip Kelly? How many of the head coaches RU has hired are in the same universe as Kelly? As far as the college game "being about talent", there are multiple programs that bring in elite talent year in and year out, and underachieve because of coaching. Alabama floundered in in the wilderness with talented rosters in the years between Gene Stallings' retirement and the arrival of Nick Saban. Georgia and USC had elite talent year in and year out. It wasn't until those programs hired coaches that turned potential into results on the field that they won championships. It's not enough to build fieldhouses and hand out money to attract talent. Winning requires creating an environment for talent to develop and flourish.

If it's not about coaching, why are we wasting money on HC Schiano and OC KC?

Just salaries and put the money towards a Fieldhouse fund. Every dollar the athletic department saves is one less dollar they need to fundraiser.

Ohio State could be Rutgers without Chip Kelly. Chip Kelly is on staff to beat Penn State, Michigan, Texas, and Georgia or Alabama.

Focus to take the next step, we need more talent. We already have adequate coaching.

They are in the ACC and play on the CW this week. We are in the BIG and play on NBC. They wish they were in our situation.

Not only the facility, but a confluence of factors.
Each school has their advantages and disadvantages. Syracuse is a small intimate school with a great environment for learning and where the professors actually care about their students. They are having an excellent season and already qualified to go bowling. The quarterback is putting up big numbers. If they finish 8-4 we finish 4-8, it is going to be a lot harder to recruit against them.

GS is 14th highest paid in the B1G. We do everything on the cheap.

Greg's new deal that began in March brings him in line with B1G conference median. I posted about this a few days ago. Greg and his coached earned 4th highest comp in conference last year, and comp is skyrocketing with Greg's 56% raise.

Where do you see 14th highest?
