OT: Syracuse

I used your 2006 reference ( And wonder why we haven’t had a team we could be proud of in 16 years) as the bases of my reply to you.
So when you imply Rutgers has been a loser since then, I implied RU wasn't a loser for some of the years after 2006, it just didn't win enough and go to the bowl games the fans wanted to see RU in and the minor bowls invited o weren't something that could be bragged about.
Before 2005 Ru was an embarrassment, after 2010 the same could be said , even though a bowl game was obtained in 2012,2013 & 2014 a lot of fans were still embarrassed and the bowl last year was because of academics.
Being in position to be invited didn't make fans satisfied..
This is the 3rd year of Greg2, so I won't panic that instant gradifiction hasn't come my way and won't be embarrassed because it hasn't
Yes we had some good and decent years post 2006. Last one was 2014. That’s too damn long to stink . It just is
Nothing wrong with being patient with Greg . I am too . We don’t have any other choice

They play in the ACC, which is a slightly better version of the old Big East. Give them our schedule and let me know how they do, TIA.
We wanted the Big 10 and we got it. If we didn’t know what we were getting into, now we know.. Cuse is getting the job done and that will have more i impact on recruits and transfer then being at the bottom of the Big 10. We r gonna have to up our game

The ACC has as many top 25 teams as the Big 10. 4 teams
Please don’t overvalue the Big 10. It’s a top heavy conference every year and after the few top heavy schools. - it’s an ordinary conference just like every other conference

Pretty sure we beat cuse if we played them. At least it would be 50/50. So not worried about them "passing" us. Some of you guys need to chill out
This thread is comical. I'm hardly an apologist for Greg but I swear I went and saw us best them at Cuse last year.
We're just a couple of plays, calls, points, turnovers away from 5-1 ourselves. And I'm not saying we didn't blow those games.
Thinking Cuse is that far ahead is a joke.
JMU was #25 prior to today.

JMU #25. Lol. Yeah those rankings are so smart.

How many points are you “pretty sure” we would score in this “pretty sure” win ?
Wasn’t it not too long ago that programs like Syracuse / Kansas / Illinois / Maryland / Minnesota were at our level?
for those keeping score at home, all those 5 have head coaches with offense backgrounds. I’ve said it a hundred times and will say again, this is why our hire was a very poor choice. Aside from the Neanderthal playbook, it’s why we can’t get legit QB recruits. And don’t tell me about GW. Hasn’t proven he’s good yet.

65. I am as frustrated as anyone else with this offense but are you saying we don't have a quality defense?
He made a bold change. Give him that.
Let's see what we get before burning him at the stake?
Just a tad better scoring or lack of giving away points makes a big difference so far.

Reading your tone is enough for me to promise you that you are a miserable douche.

1984…yes, I think the defense is solid. It holds up pretty well considering how inept the offense is. And I do give Schiano for having a big hand in the defense.

But that’s not how you win in today’s game. Just like in the NFL, games are won with creative offense and vertical passing. PI and QB protection rules favor that. Langan dives don’t work. QB draws don’t work. He knows they don’t work but prefers punts to turnover risk so that his D can win games. That’s just not a viable philosophy. All it does is ensure failure. 1953 called and wants its playbook back.

We have won 3 games; Nebraska didn’t beat us, we beat ourselves with poor play calling. So we should be 4-2. OSU was OSU. And we were somewhat competitive with Iowa. With an improvement in offense, we should be competitive in 4 of the 6 remaining games. The Indiana game will be very telling. If Nunzio shows some life on offense and we beat Inidiana ( who gave Maryland a real battle today), I will be more confident with our ability to be competitive with, Maryland , Minnesota and MSU. If that happens and we win 5 games this year, I think it will be a nice improvement over last year even though win total is the same. Looking forward to next year, the OL will be better and deeper and I believe Gavin and Sam Brown will be the real deal. I know there are a lot of if’s here, but they are not big stretches. Based on the current alignment and being competitive with every team except OSU and maybe one other team would be a significant benchmark. If the conference goes to quads with annual games against the other 3 teams in our quad and 2 games against teams in each of the other quads, might be better than the current East division schedule. Don’t give up yet. If we can get the right OC and show as much improvement as the defense, we will be a fun team to watch and have a shot to win most weeks. I know Football is the big dog, but I get great joy watching most of our other sports where we are competitive and more than competitive in a power 5 conference.

Yea and they would smoke us. Can you please post the picture or you doing arm curls?
Yes Syracuse would smoke us this season. It actually comical that some Posters are so obsessed with Cuse they foolishly continue to post that we are better than them. Fact is we are not and it’s not even close.
Will things change next season ? We certainly hope so or questions will arise on the ability of Greg 2.0

And now Cuse has lapped us. Can't wait til Greg builds this program the right way via his 5-6 year strategy. Good thing he's taking his time, because the more time he takes, the more amazing we'll be. Heck let's just give him 8 years until we become partially relevant!

We obviously have a brilliant coach - wait until every other college football fan around the country realizes what we all already know.
Syracuse should have lost two earlier games, but the benefit of home cooking ref calls

they then beat NC state who lost their qb right before their game

they do deserve some credit but there was some luck involved

Ahahahahahaha - have you ever looked at their schedule? Answer this. Would your rather play their schedule or ours this far? What about balance of season. You are Falling into the trap of only looking at their record and thinking it must be the 60s again.

We are not behind cuse.

They will win 1 more game

I’m a Dino fan but I think it’s important to let people know this is year 7 at Cuse and 4 of them have had losing records and 5 of 6 years he’s had a losing ACC record.

I as well am a Dino fan (was hoping he'd get fired and be an OC candidate).

Yes it's Year 7 but it's not like this is the first signs of success.

Year 3 (2018) they went 10-3 (6-2), finished #15 and I believe they would have gone to the Orange Bowl as ACC #2 if Orange wasn't part of CFP that year.

Ended up beating a weakened WV (multiple players opted out for the draft).

I don’t want him as OC but I like the OC he picked up this year, Leach tree guy and long time Mendenhall OC Robert Anae. His DC is decent as well.

I think they will have multiple losses. I’ve said 6-8 wins before, similar to Kansas, and I’ll stick with that.

It's the blind leading the blind as usual here. The cult of RU fans that are content being an embarrassment is even more of an embarrassment. They are the ultimate lagging indicator.

And we aren’t. You know why? Because we can’t recruit, we don’t have good coaches, and this program is literally doomed.

Happy for Syracuse and the losers on this board who are obsessed with them.
Well, if you look on paper…we have been out recruiting them.
And moose isn’t obsessed with them, it is his way to just crap on Rutgers every chance he gets without it sounding like he is purposely trolling.
with that said, he isn’t wrong on this one. So many of those kids are ones Greg didn’t want. Our “rebuild” should not be this far behind.

The significance of Syracuse, or Illinois, being ranked has nothing to do with who would beat who this year. We beat Syracuse last year. It's that you don't need OSU-level facilities and a war chest of $10 million in NIL money to be competitive and get ranked 15 to 25. I doubt either of those teams is loaded with talent compared to us.
The both have capable offenses though

Didn't we beat them?e thinks it has something to do with quality of acc than anything else.
Yeah that was last year. They'd whoop us this year. What a difference a year makes. They lose to us and the next year catapult into the Top 20 while we go in the other direction

Rutgers has 13 players from Florida, Virgina and Kentucky. Facts matter except when they don't matter.

TKR says 7 players from Florida 1 from Kentucky and 2 from VA. Who cares about Kentucky anyway? No players from GA, SC, NC etc (states that count) - that's scholarship players.

"NOTE: This list only features scholarship players and is based off their hometown on the ScarletKnights.com website. "

4 of Cuse 6 wins are to P5 teams. We are 1-3 against P5's. They beat Purdue who is the top Big10 team in the west. Not sure what people are seeing.

Syracuse's schedule so far is pretty soft but so is ours besides Ohio State, so excuses about our tough schedule don't fly. The team could be 5-1 with even an average offense but it would not have beaten anyone great. Syracuse has the hard part of their season coming up and almost certainly will fall out of the rankings.

agree. Indiana Minny Mich st are all beatable too. This idea that the Big 10 is so much better than everyone. I dont see it. I just see it as top heavy.

This year. NIL hasn’t really kicked in the way it will yet.

I'm not sure teams like Syracuse will ever have much NIL money with which to buy great players. Does Syracuse have tons of well-heeled boosters ready to write 6 and 7 figure checks for salaries? I suspect NIL will be largely the domain of the rich and famous, who already get the best recruits. It might not change much in the pecking order except to make it even more expensive for the bluebloods to fight over trophies.
