I think some people think making a vaccine for COVID-19, aka a novel coronavirus, aka a new strain of the flu, is equivalent to designing technology to fight interstellar aliens.

Do you think they hired absolute morons off the street to make these vaccines? The two main ones are made by teams who have literal decades of experience making vaccines for all sorts of other flus.

If someone’s a house painter and they have painted houses white black red blue and yellow, don’t you think they’d be able to paint one orange? Do you think the house paint company all of a sudden hired plumbers to do the painting if it’s an orange house? Cmon people, turn on your brain and stop believing in conspiracy theories

Check the Hackensack Meridan website. They are doing first responders now. Maybe you can get an appointment as a phase 1A person.

Has anyone else in NJ signed up for the vaccine on the state Covid vaccine website? Apparently there was some delays initially, but I was able to sign up quickly. I believe it may be necessary in order travel on a plane or cruise. Maybe to attend a football or basketball game?

I signed up my mother last night. No problems. You don't get an appointment -- you are just letting them know you are interested. They will contact you when your phase is ready.

I too read that it may be necessary for both international and domestic travel, as well as concerts.

I signed up on the NJ site on day 1 too. I wish we could have placed bets about what time the state site would crash. The server is probably a Commodore 64, since this is New Jersey where nothing gets done well the first time, if ever.

I know 3 young Healthy people die from this virus. Age range was 30 to 60 not fat not smokers no history of nothing but living and living well. It can kill you so why take the risk. It’s possible some posters have not lost anyone close but if you did you probably would be all over this.

NYS is opening shots to 1b (police, over 75, etc) on Monday but at current rate of distribution of dosages it will take 14 weeks to just inoculate 1b group--anyone not taking this vaccine will be begging for it later

Why do think they will be begging?

I already know of a few people who have passed on it. My wife and some of her co workers who work for a group of surgeons said no thanks. Gonna be really hard to gat a large chunk of the country to have someone put a needle in their arm.

A lot of misinformation is being put out by those who don't trust the vaccine.
Plus the vacine is to new to realy know if what those recommending taking it are right .

Many researchers have already stated the Covid-19 mRNA vaccine is likely to last for years . Obviously they don't know how many years but it's longer than a couple. We should be able to eradicate it in a couple years just like polio.

Two of my kids (one an EMT, the other interning at a physical therapist facility while working on her PhD in PT) have just gotten their first dose. Get the second early Feb. I'll take mine as soon as it's offered and be happy about it.

The more people who get it, the more effective it will be, the quicker we can all get back to something resembling normalcy, I hope.

The slow roll out is two fold.
1. it's being given to nursing homes 1st. Instead of being able to inoculate 100's your sending a crew to inoculate 50 in a day.

2. They're treating each person as if they were special. Sitting them down seeing if they have any questions or fears about the vaccine yadda, yadda, yadda. They need to do it assembly line style, you have a question, fine, get out of line and go over there. Someone eventually will be over to answer all your questions. Next

Believe me when I heard about it, I was very appalled. I could see the staff, but commit a crime shouldn't get you to the front of the line. Sorry to say, yes they are. South Woods State prison(our largest) in Bridgeton is completely inoculated. And many more are about to be completely inoculated, before your elderly loved ones. He moved them just before inoculation was going to happen secretly from 1B to 1A. He knew no one would notice with all the hoopla of vaccine's starting to roll out grabbing the head lines. It worked for him it's hardly been reported on.
