Precipitation start times for the storm Monday.

Snow to ice to rain.

Warm air ultimately wins.

A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect beginning at 1pm on Monday.
Snow will begin Monday morning into Monday afternoon before changing over to freezing rain and then rain. This could result in slippery conditions on area roads during the Monday evening commute.

I'm pretty sure everyone here is capable of finding weather forecasts online. The simple fact of your linking graphics doesn't actually add any value.

Light snow in Chapel Hill, NC. Less than 1/4" on ground. Calling for 1 to 3. Schools already closed tomorrow. Figures I have President's Day off. Get to sit around and wait for Tuesday to show up.

couple things...for one there should be a new thread for every storm or at least a different thread for a storm that's in a different week...which clearly is the case here. The Numbers thread has been going on for a while now and its runs its course.

mods should merge the weather threads because its just stupid to have more than one running at a time

What should happen is numbers thread should be locked and when this one has run its course lock this one too. This is why I started this thread to coincide with the new weather event like bac suggested.

Anybody know what the weather is going to be like over the next couple of days?

Just for you, I have removed the restraints which kept you from starting new threads when appropriate.

Well that's the epitome of chutzpah. Nobody's friggin' thread should be locked and last I checked, bac wasn't in charge of moderating the board - half of the threads or more are OT so 2 weather threads instead of 1 is not going to lead to the downfall of Rutgers football. My thread is only 6 pages long - there are other threads nobody's complaining about which are 15+ pages long. I know people like separate threads and I've been doing that for football games and major winter events.

The only reason I kept mine going was that it wasn't getting that much traffic and the events since the 2/5 storm have been pretty minor, plus, the whole point of that thread was to track a 2-3 week period, which we're just at the end of now. If there is any wintry weather of interest after tomorrow's event, I'll start a new thread or post on someone else's thread, like I did with the blizzard - I don't "have" to start every weather thread, although I personally believe the threads are a little better when I start them, as I regularly change the title as the event unfolds.

Do you think flights out of Newark will have problems around 6pm? Will this cause delays?

Hundreds of flights delayed or cancelled - Check with your airline.

More than 430 flights have been canceled across the nation. Charlotte Douglas International Airport, Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport and LaGuardia Airport were the worst affected, suffering between 70 and 100 cancellations apiece

Temps running colder than models indicate.

What we need to see is how fast the temps rise this evening.

Could we see more snow and ice?

Possible.

The temperature profile is running pretty much right as predicted. You should resist the urge to read a single post on the weenie board that resonates with you and then cling to it.

Shoreline temperatures in NJ right now are right at the freeze mark north of LBI and just starting to rise above it to the south. Temps inland remain below freezing but the warm air is infiltrating along with the precip.

Winter Weather Advisory in effect until 10 p.m. – please exercise caution on area roadways during the evening commute
A Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 10 p.m. this evening.

Light to locally moderate snow will continue into the mid afternoon, with possible accumulations of 1 -3 inches. Snow may mix with sleet briefly before transitioning to freezing rain then rain.

Slushy and icy spots are expected during the evening commute with a light glaze of freezing rain falling on top of the snow. Even after air temperatures rise to just above 32 degrees, the ground is still very cold and untreated roads will likely remain icy.

Please use caution while driving and allow for extra time if necessary.

35 at Manasquan Inlet according to WeatherUnderground.

The mix line is now coming up from southern NJ and heading north.

It is raining over Belmar NJ and above freezing eastern LI.

In the meantime the cold air is trying to hang on longer but eventually it will give way to warmer air. So expect snow gradually changing to ice and rain by midnight most areas are plain rain except maybe near I-84, NE PA.

Temps will then warm up even more so that tomorrow am everyone is safely above freezing. So that tomorrow AM commute will be fine!

Then another band of precip comes in tomorrow around midday and into the afternoon where it will be rain. Watch the next several hours for slick roads.

The warm air continues to march northward and will continue to do so overnight and turn the precipitation to plain rain as the night progresses.

Temperatures soar into the 50s and 60s for Tuesday. A whopping 60+ degrees temperature change in just 36 hours.
