Our next HC must be Danny Hurley.....

Stringer had a solid foundation with what Grentz built. WBB has been terrific for as long as I can remember.

Always liked him. He's been an assistant for a looong time. Credentials would point to him becoming a HC by now. Why not?

I'd put him on the list. Any interest?

He was Siena HC from 2001-05. Didn't work out but he's been the top assistant under Rick Barnes at Texas and Tennessee. Still young.

If we consider ex-Rutgers candidates, Tod Kowalczyk at Green Bay-Wisconsin and Toledo hasn't embarrassed himself. Toledo teams (2) have won league titles. Assisted Tom Crean at Marquette. Has Midwestern recruiting ties, which lends itself to Big Ten recruiting.

Bob Lanier? wasn't he the guy leaking information to the press about Bannon...and he failed at Siena after winning with the previous coaches players they finished 6-24 his last season.

Yes covering for Bannon would've be the right career move.

Not saying he's good but a name to consider. He's one of the best recruiters in the country according to coaching circles

"Recruiting" and "Recruiting at Rutgers" are two different things. The only coaches who would succeed here in the normal "Recruiting" sense are people like Izzo and Pitino and Calapari and Boeheim, etc. Anyone else is a crap-shoot, even if conventional wisdom says the candidate is a good recruiter.

"Recruiting" and "Recruiting at Rutgers" are two different things.

Of course. But it can be done at some level. Not top 10 class but solid recruiting over several seasons in addition to good coaching.

Again he's just a name. Many others worthy of consideration

If it ever came down to a Hurley, I would take Bobby over Danny. He seems calm on the bench and his team at Arizona State is doing quite well.

Danny Hurley:

- can recruit
- can coach
- will attract local kids
- has the "it" factor that will sway kids
- has RU roots
- has the Hurley pipeline... St Anthony's..
- has Street Cred
- And MOST IMPORTANTLY, Hobbs must have a fondness for him given their SHU ties......

Making things complicated, if we are to pry him - we need to do it after this season - given I'm sure other larger schools will target him.....

I think I heard this same story circa 2006.

That worked out really well.

Same as it ever was.

For the Nth time ... The Hurley's couldn't find the RAC with a GPS. Let them get rich somewhere else. They are not "New Jersey" guys, they are "Jersey City/Hudson County" guys.

Should be high on the list. But I think GW is in good shape no need to go backwards and rebuild again. He has a real program that will contend every season., he's from that area and received nice extension. I don't know if a $750K bump or whatever is enough to risk his career.
