Pac12 dissolution discussion

You destroyed your own credibility when you called Lincoln a traitor. The Big 10 is highly unlikely to ever add a second-tier state university/non-flagship state university. The Big 10 is already at 16 teams and any expansion is likely on the West Coast to better balance travel for USC & UCLA. Enough of the FSU nonsense. The Noles will probably join the Big 12 in 13 years, playing the second, third, and fourth-tier Texas schools + a big rivalry with UCF.
Put the pipe down man. Re. your post

Lincoln - I've never mentioned him on this board
Flagship - FSU is the co-flagship of Florida
FSU - not joining the B12, and certainly not waiting until 2036

It's early, so I assume you're only a few puffs in. I'll be generous and give you 2/10 on a trolling scale, and the benefit of the doubt that you're not remotely serious on any of the three ludicrous points you got wrong

numbers could be as high as 500mm based on current rights which is insurmountable to any school. I get it, you get it, most people get but he's not getting it.

only 3 schools have a vested interest in leaving today, no one else

not sure why he's having such a hard time with this

still waiting for the uva/BIG reference other than what some blog said. UVA won't sniff BIG in today's conference landscape. There is no DMA in VA that matters for UVA as DC is taken already.
I've said it a few times that it's roughly half a Bil, as the 120 mil was simply the starting point by Alford during his speech to the BOG

The reading comprehension part, which you're sorely lacking, especially for an alleged professor (adjunct), with professed Wall Street connections, is truly remarkable.

We agree it's insurmountable, as no school is paying that and leaving.

And for the 900th time, I'm simply going on what I've heard, by people I trust. I've never claimed to be an expert or donate nearly enough $$ to be in the know as others.

I'm not sure what part of that you do, or don't, understand.

OK, it was your bud @toby83 who made the Lincoln comment. Otherwise, all else is correct. FSU will either stay in the ACC or someday move to the Big 12. There are no other options.

As for the Flagship state university of your state, that designation is reserved for the Gators.

This guy is as argumentative as Mildone. 'Grats for your intransigence, but would be great if you left the RU board and commiserated with the Clemson fan board.

I've been told they'll be out in 2-3 years and the powers that be, for reasons I've already listed, by and large prefer the B1G

I personally prefer the SEC due to football rivalries, but there's much more that goes into it thatn that

Re. AAU, that's a great question. When I pressed my buddy on it, as I was under the impression that was a B1G qualification before joining, he smirked and all he said was "money talks."

My interpretation is that if the B1G deems them a worthy partner, and they're brining in enough $$, and on their way to AAU membership, they'll bend the rules for the greater good

I didn't delve into it that deep as we were tailgating and the drinks were flowing smoothly, and I was more concerned with looking at co-eds and talking recruiting then AAU talk
I am skeptical about that, because the way the AAU works you cannot be sure of the timing of a future addition, and they are surprisingly resistant to pressure (if they weren’t, do you think they would have dropped Nebraska AFTER they got into the B1G?).

The best move for FSU to get in the B1G would be to get in the AAU at some point and replace Clemson in the ACC football hierarchy, but the timing on that would be near the end of this ACC deal, not 2-3 years.

Ahhhh now we're back tracking. It's puff puff pass man, get w/the times.

1. Not my buddy
2. Unless the B12 gets in line w/some serious pay increases, FSU isn't going there - ever
3. It's not though - they're co-flagships. Look it up. On the computer. Via google. Or another search engine of your choice. I dare you. Simply put "flagship universities of FL" and hit "enter"

Except that I'm a Rutgers fan as well
Grew up NJ, currently live in NJ, and will continue to live in NJ for a few more years

As far as leaving, I'm not going anywhere

I enjoy the board, as it's one of the most active on the rivals site
If you don't like my posts, you ignore them, or hit the "ignore" button

Before you do that though, get back to me on the FL flagship status from the previous thread
I'll be here...waiting

You could be right - all I know is they brought in President McCullough to accelerate the process and get it done.

Re. replacing Clemson, it's like Ric Flair says. "In order to be the man, you have to beat the man." Clemson is at the top of the mountain, and though I'm optimistic for this year, there's room for improvement before we can beat them

Defense is suspect. J-Trav has been injury prone. Recruiting barely cracking top 20. And though I love Mike, Dabo's been to the top of the mountain

We'll see what happens. That's why we watch, and root for our teams / schools with all we have

I can’t comment on Mildone, but in regard to WRIR, you may not see a bigger clown on the board

False accusations, knows nothing about college fb, uneducated about conference realignment, disappears for days, and apparently, has never used a search engine in his life

On the bright side, he and SandyVag95 have formed a formidable alliance.

Between the two of them, this board has been elevated to another level.

Welcome to 2023, where the angry, alledged adjunct Wall Street connected professor and the internet savvy no-nothing dolt rule the day!

you're just a clown and on display for everyone. There is literally no one, well the guy who thinks UNC and UVA are the big gets in ACC, that agrees with or validates any of your bs. Be honest, you're like 25-27 right?

for the record, given it's no secret here, my source is actually in the B10 office and literally at the hip but yeah, you know a guy who knows a guy

I am undefeated in my prediction that the Big 10 will not add the #2 or #3 non-flagship Florida school.

The professor speaks!

Again, I’m throughly impressed with your credentials and who you know - it’s truly a revelation, and a light in this dark world

FWIW, I don’t post for likes, nor do I post for ego.

I simply post for discussion on information I’ve heard from guys I deem knowledgeable and reputable

Initially, you knew an fsu baseball player….Now, the script is flipped, and you have inside knowledge of the B1G office sources

Next, you’ll inform us of your kinship with the grassy knowl assiliant!

Amazing! Truly magical stuff

Re. your new found source, they either know FSU is on the radar (ie have been in talks w the B1G) or, is omitting critical information to you during your think tank sessions

But for the sake of arguement, please keep us all abreast on the latest happenings

I, for one, am now complete

I actually forgot about USF joining the club - technically speaking, bc the wording was removed, they’re aren’t any technical flagships - however, the big 2 (and now USF) are widely regarded as the “flagships”

There's no reason for this thread to be becoming so heated. None of us know what is going to happen. It's conceivable that Florida State may become an AAU school. (Nebraska isn't an AAU member, but it was when the Big Ten invited it to join.) I don't especially see why the Big Ten would want to pick up schools in the South -- I would think that Notre Dame and the Pacific Coast are bigger priorities. But who knows?

It became contentious when a guy confused about religion and one masquerading as a beacon of higher learning began hurling insults

I throughly enjoy discussing college football and am intrigued by what the future holds in regard to conference realignment

I never stated to know it all, or have an abundance of inside sources. Rather, i merely passed on information I’ve heard from people I trust

Will their predictions ultimately come to fruition? Possibly

If they don’t, will I still post on here and admit I, and they, were wrong?

Absolutely

This is a college football message, board, and half of the fun of being on here is having different opinions and making predictions, and seeing which come true, and which don’t

This is not war and peace and certainly not equivalent to a nuclear Summit

I love sports, and love college football

As long as that continues to be the main focus of this board, I’ll be a happy man

There is one flagship state university per state, typically the land-grant university of the state (one state where the flagship and land-grant universities are different is NY). In any case, I really don't care about FSU that much. They are never coming to the Big 10.

Again, no flagships just premenient status in the great state of FL, of which both UF & FSU hold that distinct designation

For someone who doesn’t care about the Noles you sure spend a lot if time posting about them

Fear not though - you’re not alone

Judging by their ratings, the upcoming Ireland and subsequent Labor Day game next year, a lot of people, including the networks, care about them

Since you’ve been repeatedly proven wrong in this and every other previous exchange, I’ll make you a deal

You sit in the corner, way out yonder, and ponder to yourself “self, I wonder which religion is right?”

Meanwhile, those of us who actually follow the great game of football will continue to discuss, debate and predict where the remaining dominoes will fall

Will FSU go to the SEC? Or Will they land in the B1G?

Whichever one will suffice, but I’ll bet you a dollar to a donut they’ll make their decision (or have it made for them) well before your religious conquest concludes

When the professor speaks, you all will listen!!

Can’t keep my story straight? First you knew a baseball player. Then you have an in to the B1G office.

Next thing I know, you’ll be telling me how you teach college classes and have Wall Street connections!

All This coming from a guy who wants us to give up one of the best home court advantages in college Bball.

Duke giving up Cameron
Kansas knocking down Allen Field House
SandyVag95 getting laid

All of those crazy ideas… not happening

What will be happening, sooner rather than later, is my Noles leaving the ACC to either the B1G or the SEC

Until then, and after as well, Wel continue winning (3 natties), racking up awards (3 Heismans), and playing marquee matchups in prime time spots (see Ireland, Dublin, LSU on LDW, etc) whilst the Sandy one keeps hurling unfounded insults

This was a fun thread that has been derailed!
Let's recap

JDS comes on here giving info from people he knows
JDS never claims to have intimate inside knowledge, just passed along info from people he trusts
Right or wrong, it's a college FB message board and topics like this are discussed

RU95 and his sidekick, The Religious One, come on here insulting JDS
JDS initially ignores it for the greater good of this board, hoping to continue fb dialogue

95 and the Bible guy then continue piling on, so JDS comes back at them
95 then starts puffing his chest out about all the people he knows and his impressive resume

JDS, thoroughly impressed, immediately realizes he's found the true meaning of life, thanks to 95
Meanwhile, the Religous one is off on his own, contempleting which, if any religion, is actually right

JDS I believe you and I have debated on multiple threads on this site. I enjoy hearing differing opinions and Insight. The problem with message boards are they are anonymous and the written word doesn’t always translate humor and sarcasm.

I can’t stand when threads derail into name calling and pissing contests. None of us know where this thing is headed! We will all see in the coming years.

I’ll say it again, I have no inside, secret sources

I simply go by what I’ve been told from a few high level boosters who I’ve known for years and i consider honest & reputable

Nobody knows what the future truly holds.

If we did, we would have won powerball and started the Rac renovations by now!

I keep hearing in the back of my mind; the grass is not always greener
Why?

Agreed. Let’s see where this all shakes out.

Wow
There goes 95 with his arrogant, smug, know it all attitude

How date you ask such a crazy question!!
Must be a great way to go through life.

Hosing anyone who dares to pose a question on an anonymous message board - blasphemy I say!!

Sounds like the kind of guy I’d love to have for a college professor!

You're just a dolt really. You provide zero rational thought, only conjecture but try to pawn off as 'in the know'. You've reached rutgersal levels of stupidity here.

Best part is you can't even keep your own stories aligned

Retarded is what you are. Be honest, you're like a paper salesman right

I was a paper salesman in college

I’m now an adjunct college professor with alledged Wall Street connections and purported ties to baseball players and Power 5 conference headquarters, outwardly advocating to give up one of the best home court advantages in college basketball while eclipsing 35k posts on a college football message board and degrading anyone who dares to ask questions

And we all wander why colleges in big trouble in this country?

Here you have a college professor calling people morons and retards, merely because I disagree with his opinion, but mainly because he’s got serious issues

Think about that, for a minute, somebody in his stature is the degrading others because they not agree with him.

For the amount that college costs these days, is this who you would want teaching your children in school?

I work in the television and media industry for one of the big 3 (Viacom-CBS, NBCUniversal, ABC Disney). I will say this (and this is my opinion based on where things are going) - linear TV is going away soon (ie cable boxes). Content will be shifted almost entirely to apps/streaming. The reasons why are another discussion, but it basically comes down to it’s much easier to track viewership numbers on your own platform than relying on Verizon/Optimum and things like Neilson which is the only true currency for selling ads because of its neutrality.

Because of this, things like carriage fees and media markets will become essentially meaningless when it comes to rights negotiations. It will be about what brands draw the biggest eyeballs. This is why the Big Ten added USC and UCLA - it was less to get BTN on LA television packages (10 years from now there will be no cable TV). They were added because there are NO bigger national brands available at the time. This is the same reason the SEC added Texas and Oklahoma.

Hence, this is the reason why the next schools the Big Ten will target are brands like UNC, Clemson, Notre Dame. Unfortunately with the ACC GOR the $$$ for court wasn’t more than the value they’d bring so those brands weren’t available, hence why they took USC and UCLA.

This is the reason why “Ga Tech having the Atlanta market” means nothing. And why Cal/Stanford for the “San Francisco market” also means nothing. The money will be with the brands, not the TV markets. Also the reason why UC couldn’t strong arm the B1G to taking Cal as a member. They are absolutely terrible in all sports and don’t really have much tradition of winning in the major sports the way other available brands do.

Does this mean eventually the leagues kick out members like RU, Wake, Vandy etc? I don’t know and I hope not for our sake, when the “NYC market” isn’t something we can bring to a negotiating table anymore. But we’ll cross that bridge when we get to it and hopefully we bring enough value (ie eyeballs to our games to sell ads $$) someday when the time comes.
