ASSist leader. Biggest over rated stat ever. Who cares. Paul couldn’t drive a truck for a layup.
But he put his all on the floor when he was in the game.
I feel Paul wasn't an all American talent but his all out effort helped RU when he had his game going.
The states he has proves that .
He made the most of the physicle talent he had and his basketball IQ made him one of RU's best PGs in history despite not really having the type of talent top PGs possess.

Dude, that’s a little harsh. Take the high road.
He’s not being harsh. He’s totally inaccurate but at least he’s consistent. The most important stats is +/- and w vs l and Paul did very well in at least in the wins vs losses.

Paul Mulcahy is among the top 35 players to ever wear the Rutgers MBB uniform
but he hurt his RU legacy by leaving, especially waiting so long before entering the portal.
I'll always feel Paul was good for the team and was a reason it's a winner.
But I won't say he helped the team by waiting so long to inform the program he was going in the portal.
Unless I find out he and Pike were in discussions and it was a mutual decision based on how he'd fit in the way Pike was going to have the team play and how Paul's skill set fit the style of play planned ,I hold waiting till June to enter the portal against him and not care if he plays well for his next program. Just wish him an injury free season and hope he doesn't chose a B1G program to jump to or one I dislike

Paul has nothing but love for Rutgers it was just time to move on. I'm sure you'll see him at the RAC in time. It won't be this upcoming season.

He would've been out of eligibility if not for COVID anyway and can't blame him for seeing what Cam got.

It is what it is. Just know the kid bleeds scarlet before you pass judgment.

you're probably right it was time to move on and I felt the team might not be playing the style of play that suits his talent in 2023-24 and moving on might be best.
I just am totaly disapointed that he chose to leave at this late date than announce his intentions sooner.
Unless I find out the late dat was because of waiting for Pike's imput about how he fits the teams plans next year, I just look at Paul as someone who played his heart out gave Rutgers all he could give, but in the end left RU in a lurch because he took so long to leave.
I wish Paul success in life, but not as a college basketball player.

He was testing NBA draft waters. I'm sure Cam's demand had something to do with it as well. There's never a good time to leave anywhere. Sometimes you just gotta do it when you feel it's right.

Couldn't agree more. I was a big Paul supporter, and thought our fans were unduly harsh on him. That being said, I cannot root for him anymore, and I do not see a day where he is welcomed back at the rack. If he had come out after the season and said I need a change, I would not have had an issue, but this late in the year just is a kick in the teeth.

though I'm not happy with the late date Paul left I cannot deny he was a big part of the teams success and feel some are trying t make him less of the asset he was because they're pissed at him for leaving .
The thing people forget is he would've been out of eligibility if not for COVID. He did his 4 years here. He's earned the right to both seek other opportunities and still maintain our respect.

People are bitter with him for no reason. It's comical. My hope is that time heals all and he is celebrated the next time he visits the RAC.

Pikiell recruited over him. Of course he left.

One criticism one could have made with Pike was his loyalty and not having depth because he kept his word with players and didn’t bring in players to compete with his starters.

He changes his tune and he loses Paul and Cam. Tough to walk that fine line.

I feel we are entering a new phase of the Pikiell regime. Obviously portal and NiL has forced programs to adapt. Pike is now in uncharted territory.

The minute he suits up for another team, people would rather forget him. People reward loyalty to the front of the Jersey not the back.

This is the difference between being a program that peaks and one that continues to reload, pike is heading towards the reloading phase

I have said this before - I have no issue with players leaving, but when you leave this late, I have a problem. There is a reason to be pissed about HOW he left not BECAUSE he left. I was a big Paul fan, that has passed. I don't wish anything bad on him, but dont ask me to celebrate him if he visits the RAC.

He left after going through NBA draft evaluation. Also think it was a tough decision. I don't expect him to play another game at the RAC with RU or opponent BUT I do hope that time heals all and if he comes back down the road people have it in their hearts to understand he wanted a change of scenery because his role was impacted. He's a Rutgers alum just like most of us on this board.

Some of these are debatable but it's very close. You also forgot Todd Billet and Dahntay Jones if you were going to include players that transferred out early.

But why are we starting at ‘76? Bob Lloyd and Gene Armstead come to mind.

The 3 retired numbers should be the first 3 on the list. Still think Mulcahy is among the all time program greats. 4th all time in assists in 4 years. Would've been close to all time mark if he had stayed. Great player and person. Glad he's RU alum

Are you saying Geo, RHJ and Cliff deserve their numbers to be retired? If so, that is a wacky thought.

As far as PM is concerned, I just don’t see him as a great player. He seemed like he was heading to stardom after great run he had in 2021-22, but he really had a down year this year. Cliff also covered for him on many occasions he got beaten by his man

He is most certainly not an all-time Rutgers great. Had a respectable career and some good games, same as a hundred others.

Can you read? I said the the first 3 names of top players should the the 3 numbers that currently hang from the rafters.

Lloyd, Bailey, Sellers. Top 3 players all time.

QD would be in the top 5 too.

Craig Carter, Rick Dadika and Earl Duncan were also better than Paul. But not Brent Dabbs. He didn’t do much of anything.
