Per Politi: No fans this year for Giants/Jets/Rutgers (RU - 500 max for coaches / players family)

So... politics aside.. is 501 too many for a Rutgers football game?

Given all the examples seen in this thread of inconsistent standards.. why is 500 the number?

And skinny... yes.. insurance companies pretty much make these decisions.,, but when the Governor has weird and changing limits.. it makes it hard on everyone.

Rutgers will get its pro-rated share of BTN and other TV money from airing football games.. everything else becomes a question of whether the insurance company will cover you if you are sued under X, Y Z rules. The insurance company may have checked off on coverage if Rutgers limits attendance to 500. Of course, they could shop for insurance if they set it at 10K and seen what was available. The Big Ten could shop for insurance for all teams at once...but then you have chaos. One team might "allow" or tolerate wild tailgates while another comes down like stormtroopers on any gatherings. Any little variance might allow insurance companies to say.. oh ono.. we weren't covering you for THAT.

And is 500 the number for a small stadium like Monmouth? What about a HS stadium? Do they also get 500, the same number allowed at Met Life Stadium?

You know people will be tailgating at the games whether they can enter or not. That should be interesting to see how that plays out.

Reading these threads is exactly why i opted out of the invite. Its like shouting at a cloud on both sides and I find it just annoys me. Better off not. Its not like anyone is going to change anyone elses mind on any topic.
But it is great entertainment reading it.

Is this a serious question? Those stores have far, far less population density than a football game would. If you're talking gyms vs. stores, gyms feature far more risk (for the same spacing relative to stores) given heavy breathing/grunting from exercise. As I said, I think they could figure out ways to make gyms safe to reopen.
You know what’s a serious question...

Why at the smaller venue, Monmouth Park can you have a higher number than the larger one, MetLife.

And with the poor design of MetLife it’s even easier to control social distancing because “you can’t get theyah from hearah” especially on the lower level.

This one just doesn’t make sense.

Unbelievable how these threads all keep turning so political. If only there was somewhere, not affiliated with Rutgers sports in any way, where the politically obsessed could exchange their silly insults and uselessly point fingers at each other until the end of time...

Was that the invite to the new CE board with two versions? I didn't even peek. I passed. There are plenty of other message boards like that, where most topics become politically charged, and people hurl insults at each other. No thanks.

I made similar comments last night in this thread - I said I thought 10-20% fans, with mandatory masking, would likely be safe, IMO. I haven't seen the rationale for sporting event attendance.

Thank you. I was just about to ask if there are any Biden voters who find the 500 limit arbitrary.

keep your snarky personal attack to yourself while you act high and mighty...HYPOCRITE

You confusing me with RU_Choppin_Ohio?

You and I only really interact on basketball threads. I've always refused to post on the CE board and have most of the refugees from that cesspool on ignore, but you've always brought value to basketball threads that they don't.

In another thread, @knightfan7 suggested Monmouth Park could be the test case and if it works and we don’t see and significant changes COVID-19 wise we could possibly see the attendance numbers change for other places too.

I can get behind that, but it would be nice to know if that’s the reason. I think many would understand an agree if given some answers ahead of time.

What invite? I guess I wasn't partisan enough. Ha.

What does Biden have to do with the science of trying to protect against virus spread at events? The fact that you asked that question is part of the problem.
I think he was referring to the 500 people who are admitting to they are voting for Biden. Don't get excited--it's a joke.

It is funny, however-we have been out on the boat twice a week all summer, and there are loads of boats and homes on the water flying the other guy's flag. We have seen only one flag for Biden.

Murphy and other politicians have had a some strangely inconsistent standards. Restrictions on churches have been perplexing in view of relaxed restrictions on other businesses such as liquor stores and bars. And then what they did with nursing homes. Makes little sense.

Almost like people sit in church next to one another for an hour at least while most people are in and out of a liquor store in minutes.

Bars are open only outdoors. Churches are indoors.

And yeah they should have sent Granny to away from nursing homes to all those many many places equipped to handle the elderly and disabled.

Phil Murphy has a 67% approval rating.

It's only a small amount of people who won't stop their tantrum. Mostly people most at risk from getting sick.

I don't see why the same suspects are complaining.

Didn't the virus go away in April?

Didn't injections of light and disinfectant stop the whole thing?

How's DeSantis doing these days? LMAO

So great, am I right?

Oh please. it has been the routine to assume, and comment, that anyone who wants more relaxation (of anything other than the mostly-peaceful protests) is a Trump worshipper. Just look at the reactions to BAC comments about gyms... even when he shows other states having them open. He has a personal stake in going to a gym and you all say the science does not support that... as if it has been tested using scientific standards and principles.

But here we have a case where many here are personally invested (not Greg2020) and seeing a Biden guy support loosening up of Murphy's science-based 500 limit is worth a comment. You say its "science"... strange how science changes according to personal desires.

You ask me why Biden got mentioned after saying this? Sheesh..

"I rarely make political posts in the pinned thread, but threads like this often get political before they get locked, so since everyone else is making political posts, I will too. Great post. The SOP among the Trump followers, when confronted with incontrovertible science is to deny, deflect or blame someone else."

I'm not a Murphy hater but are you are saying you are fine with his actions that caused many nursing home deaths? Sounds like it.

I will continue going inside of chuch not wearing a mask with 95% of the other worshippers. Social distancing and wearing the mask when going up to communion.

the science #s and others here invoke are bulls..., its all selective based on their bias and they ignore all the stuff science got wrong throughout.

they still are not offering any data about gyms...there was one positive study on gyms I think in Norway or Denmark but it wasnt peer reviewed and as usual all the doom and gloomers criticized the study for various reasons

all but 3 states have gyms open or had them open I believe and requiring masks..of course people are protesting in the streets every night but silence generally

Now tell me that wasn't a political comment.. and a political LIKE from Greg2020... don't dare to disagree on ANYTHING or expect to be attacked.

THAT is why I wanted to ask if any Biden backers thought we could handle more fans than 500 safely.

You can go to 5000.. spread them out.. 1000 each per north east south and west and then the other 1000 in the club and upper decks.. we can handle that safely.. easily.. with some stripes on the ground at the entrances

10 times as many fans would get to watch

Why, because she's calling out the idiocy of the Murph"s new policy? So basically per the Murph, on a fall Saturday you can have more people in the Borgata (2,000 or 25%) than in a 52,454 capacity open air Stadium(500 or less than 1%). Or is it because she doesn't agree with your views?

we don't even know that... all she did was call attention to Murphy's arbitrary rules. You don't need a political alignment to see that for what it is. His rules once got a guy alone on the beach arrested... and he waffled when asked about it. I blame the media for Murphy killing folks in nursing facilities. He saw Cuomo getting praised like crazy and said.. I want some of that.. and just copied him.

Cuomo got praised for shoving Covid patients in nursing homes?

What about 500 in the State Theatre ? A 2000 seat indoor venue has the same attendance limits as a 52,000 outdoor stadium. Something is not right.

Why did you feel the need to state that you can't believe that @MrsScrew "calls herself" nurse? Can't nurses have opinions that disagree with elected officials and express opinions when politicians make inconsistent decisions? Are they supposed toe the line of politicians like robots? I would find that hard to believe.
