If he fails, we can't blame the school for it.
But it all depends on what you are looking for him to do.
In realistic I worry that so many on here will be disappointed when he doesnt reach the pinnacle so many think he reached previously

Really? If things don’t work out and we’re stuck in a contract longer than we want Hobbs and the admin will be blamed. 20/20 is always in effect and if the guarantees are high it would be justified. Can’t just assume everything goes rosy have to have an out should things not work the way you’d want.If he fails, we can't blame the school for it.
But it all depends on what you are looking for him to do.
You are absolutely clueless.
This guy is awful, no question, yikes!
To Schiano nut huggers. He’s had 4 alleged jobs since 2012 and actually worked less than 4 years. He did a good job here a long time ago. Now he’s holding RU hostage? Because the AD picked a bum to coach. Sad sad sad.
Yep. Glad you're finally admitting it.Rutgers is the one that joined the big ten and lost 15000 season ticket sales. And I’m clueless [roll]
And if by chance he fails? I want to see what excuses will be tossed around. Way too much support for Schiano over Rutgers going on. Perhaps Schiano needs to settle for things in a timeline and stop playing Verucca Salt and saying BUT I WANT IT NOOOOW
When two parties have very little leverage, power goes to the one with slightly MORE leverage...that’s Schiano, NOT Rutgers. If indeed it is GS that is hired, I recommend doing a personal boycott of Rutgers Football! To Schiano nut huggers. He’s had 4 alleged jobs since 2012 and actually worked less than 4 years. Want to put it in perspective... I’m pretty sure an assistant salary pool of 7-8 million would be highest in the country or close to it. When you’re hitting 6 million you’re already up there but 7-8 million is huge.Just to put it in perspective, Ash's contract guaranteed ~$3.25 million in assistant coach salaries.
Funny that’s how you came across in your petulant OP...This is you guys when your hero does what he does. Not show up.
Goes to show Schiano is leaving no stone unturned in his effort to build a winnerWant to put it in perspective... I’m pretty sure an assistant salary pool of 7-8 million would be highest in the country or close to it. When you’re hitting 6 million you’re already up there but 7-8 million is huge.
He might fail to win enough games. Then again, he may also succeed. So what?
I'd rather be left with first class infrastructure either way.
Plus, anyone who shows up for a pay check is definitely going to fail. GS is doing right by Rutgers here. Rutgers needs to help itself for once.
This isn’t happening prepare yourself.
The more I think about it the current coach is better. Just make him the coach. Doesn’t have all the baggage and whatever other issues. He can go .500 just as easily as Gary would. And without the reality show drama.
Not a shrink but something isn’t right with your hero Gary.
I think the simple reason why this has to happen is that there is NO "Plan B".
If the Schiano deal goes sideways there isn't a single candidate that would give us a fair look. Anyone would know, going in, that they would be the most hated person on the planet for having committed the sin of not being Greg Schiano.
At this point, there is no other option.
Goes to show Schiano is leaving no stone unturned in his effort to build a winner
OR
What's being said is just rumor and speculation because no one knows what Schiano has said he needs and guesses are being considered as facts.
My guess is a standard 5 year contract, reasonable salary for Greg and his and staff.
But what Schiano wants over and above that will be covered by the boosters pushing for his return , or no return.
I would guess fully guaranteed 5 year contract by RU ,any extra years will be partially guaranteed ( up to 5th year) and boosters cover that.
After 5th year School assumes full guarantee
My salary guess
Expect RU to pay Schiano around 3 mil salary ,boosters add 1 mil.
Yearly increases, to RU's portion, until 5th year. Boosters part remains the same
Staff RU pays 3.5 mil, boosters 1.5
Increase on the part Rutgers pays , boosters remain at 1.5 mil.
My speculation seems far fetched, but agree with the implication 7-8 mil a year for staff seems a bit much , which makes my theory a little easier to take :Sly:

You’re a moron.Hire Campanile. He’s 100 times the coach Ash is and probably as good as Gary without all these demands and drama.
Congrats on uttering, quite possibly, a top 10 retarded statement on TKR! Even if just trolling on a Tuesday...Hire Campanile. He’s 100 times the coach Ash is and probably as good as Gary without all these demands and drama.

Not according to KS in their podcast. He said 12M total with 4-5 to GS which leaves 7-8 for assistants and support staff and he said 7-8 years.I believe that 7 8 million number included Schiano salary so 4 for Schiano 4 for assistants
At the very least, remove the non-voting members from the list.who is voting no?

This. It's always boiled down to how much does Rutgers want this? Are you in, or are you out?
It's less a question of how much Rutgers wants this as a question of how much private donors are willing to pledge money to make it happen.
Not according to KS in their podcast. He said 12M total with 4-5 to GS which leaves 7-8 for assistants and support staff and he said 7-8 years.
Don’t know just stating what was in the podcast. Then that is a demand because I understood Rutgers was willing to go to numbers I listed

this I agree with . No more than 3mm a year or we're overpaying as we could certainly do better for 5mm a year5 million a year for 8 years for a guy that got fired 7 years ago and hasn’t been a head coach since. Seems crazy.

IGNORE LIST reminder.. you have the power to never see his BS againRutgers is the one that joined the big ten and lost 15000 season ticket sales. And I’m clueless [roll]
RUhouston said the exact same thing in another thread... Verucca Salt references? Coincidence? I think someone is throwing a temper tantrum.. and its not Schiano. And if by chance he fails? I want to see what excuses will be tossed around. Way too much support for Schiano over Rutgers going on. Perhaps Schiano needs to settle for things in a timeline and stop playing Verucca Salt and saying BUT I WANT IT NOOOOW
You... You don't watch college football, do you?Keep the guy you have he’s doing a great job. 2 million a year. Bump up OC and DC to 1 million.
If he can recruit NJ it’s a home run.
Schiano is primadonna.
If he stayed he would have all the stuff he wants by now. But he didn’t.
