Pressure put back on Rutgers (‘It’s up to Rutgers’: Greg Schiano deal close but needs board approval

RUhouston said the exact same thing in another thread... Verucca Salt references? Coincidence? I think someone is throwing a temper tantrum.. and its not Schiano.

No temper tantrum here just a realistic view of an average coach ( Yes the best fit for Rutgers at this time) possibly asking for improbable numbers. Want a temper tantrum wait to see if Rutgers says no or if Schiano wont back down from demands and this falls apart. This board almost as a whole will have a joint temper tantrum

c'mon Freehold.. own it.. you and the haters are throwing a hissy fit over Rutgers looking to hire Schiano. You all infest this board with the hate in so many ways.

What? You mean there is more than one thread on this topic?
funny.. but I meant the reference to a character in Willy Wonka, Verucca Salt. I don't think in all the years on this board I have ever seen a reference to Verucca Salt.. and now we see it twice in a couple days by two "different" posters? That is some weird stuff if just a coincidence.

If you read my posts as hate you must have those Rose colored glasses on Anything I've said is either truth or based on what others have posted on here. Sorry I'm not over the moon about overpaying Greg Schiano. Tell me where is he going to get those extra wins to get us to bowls when he wont be able to water down the schedule as much as previously. The bottom of the B1G is as good as most Big East teams back in the day. I can admit I will be pulling for him to succeed just being more realistic than most around here

See.. now if you kept to that or if I hadn't seen that verruca salt reference twice I would never have bothered you about the post.

It is fair to argue facts and opinion.. but the whole positioning Schiano as throwing a temper tantrum is just going too far. Everyone should have doubts. Mine are wondering if Schiano can have the same drive and work ethic that he had as a 34 year old. BTW.. that Greg Schiano was also making demands. The competition has stepped up, GS just saw what they have at Ohio State.. is it any wonder that his demands have increased? If anything, these demands indicate that wants to be in a position to compete and he knows he is going to need to erase some disadvantages.

I am not for hiring almost anyone else who would make demands like this... some brand name coaches are a no-brainer.. like Kansas with Les Miles. But there are very very few of those guys. Most would be like a Charlie Weiss.. make big demands, come in and cash checks and get fired and cash checks for a few more years. My alternative to GS would be a young guy with HC experience who is an offensive guru type and can recruit (be that jersey ties or some kind of pull.. like he's a former NFL player) or forget head coach and just hire expensive coordinators. a team of rivals to coach. Each one looking to make a resume to become a head coach. Hmmm.. how about taking and delivering on GS's "demands" but not hiring him.. hire only expensive assistants using the money you would have budgeted to GS. Hire a football recruiting executive who makes sure the assistants are recruiting properly.
