Start Laviano...with the understanding that ball security is #1, making the O - GO is #1 and if either #1's aren't in sync- he'll see the bench (for awhile).

If CL is having a bad stretch and we're down in the red zone- why not use Oden for running plays with Martin, Grant / Hicks as options.

If CL is having a bad stretch and we're around our 20- to their 40 yard lines ....why not use Rettig (the arm) and let him air it out.

Based on a very small sample, I was NOT impressed with Zach. Here's hoping he'll have better days...but he'd be my 4th choice in this scenario ....and should probably be moved back to WR.

As for Dare...apparently RU won't dare use him.

If No. Dakota State can beat Iowa on the road....can we beat Iowa at home?

This next game will be HUGE.

Despite the lack of kicker who can reach the end zone on ANY KO, a dual QB who is really more of a pocket passer - and throws off balance: we're 2-1.

Beating Iowa would send a few shock waves into the B1G.
What's next RU upsets the mighty Maize?

At this point, I don't see the benefit in starting Laviano. Even if the coaches believe he gives RU the best chance to win, this team will need a miracle to reach 5 wins. Just give the job to Rescigno/Oden and build it from there.

Let's pump the brakes on Allen , he played a series.
Sorry to say but Allen is not a good qb. Today's performance is just a confirmation of why he was switched to wr before transferring from TCU. Laviano is the cleanest dirtiest shirt.

You play to win the game.

This. I was telling half the yahoos on this Board don't reach much into the transfer from TCU.
They all anointed him as our QB savior. There is a reason he was the 4th QB on the TCU roster.

Move to him to WR now and get Gio and Oden on the field.

Don't think quarterback by committee is what we want to see here.

Given how bad Laviano's throws were on simple slants, I'd give rettig a look...rescigno and oden also should get a look

Is rettig able to grasp the playbook? I get he doesn't fit the system but he has a huge arm, he has to be able to thrown a slant pattern

A miracle? Seriously? This team could very easily get 6 wins and a bowl. The team / coaching staff needs to figure out how to come out of the gate. Spot Washington a 24-0 lead before losing 48-13, spot Howard a 14-0 lead before scoring 52 unanswered points, and then spot New Mexico a a 21-0 lead before scoring 31 unanswered enroute to a win 37-28. Through the first three games, RU is being outscored 59-14 in the first quarter while outscoring the opponent 88-31 over the last 45:00.

I didn't see that drive but one series isn't enough to Judge.
Based on summer scrimmages Allen had poor passing completion percentage. He's just not a passer. Simple as that. I would let him come in to hand off and run qb spread runs though.

I'm definitely for qb by committee.

Very easily win 6 games??? After 3 games we have seen such bad starts that nothing comes easy. Laviano is not the answer. He has shown us all the upside he has. It's time to make a change.
The thought of a bowl is nice. Throw Maryland, Illinois and Indiana into the W column (and none of the are slam dunks). Where is win #6 coming from? And those 3 are MUST wins. Lose one of them than you need 2 wins from the rest of the schedule. That's not happening.

6 wins would be fantastic, but I just don't realistically see that happening. I think I'm being generous right now calling the Indiana, Illinois and Maryland games coin flips. Even if we take 2 of those games where are we getting 2 more wins?
