Eddie has to find four Big Ten caliber players off a possible 7-win season. No one signed in the fall because the staff consists of four disparate parts. Mike O'Koren was still "recruiting" until earlier this year. Did he once place a phone call to an aau or hs coach? Why should the current 0-fer 2016 surprise us?

What's the vision? Play like the Spurs or Warriors? How about play defense and rebound.

And yet it doesn't matter who Rutgers signs. Blowouts. Lack of fundamentals like rebounding, passing and defense. It won't change.

I might get killed for this, but if this regime isn't going to work (and I think <10% of fans have any hope) and if we continue to play as ugly as we have been, losing out wouldn't be the worst thing in the world. Why delay the inevitable.

Hypothetically speaking.....what if there was absolutely no money . I don't have the memory or resources, but we have bought out many coaches over the years. What if we had some expenses that were incurred, slated to be booked in the future when buyouts went away. Lo and behold Flood and Jordan additional expenses. As a result the monies available to pay the new staff was below what it is now. We then are offering jobs to huge question marks that aren't on any P5 school radars....or rolling dice on has beens just happy to be collecting a 250K check.

again i have no idea of the finances. i do know money doesn't go on trees and an increased athletic budget isn't easy. the arguement of increased expenses leading to increased revenue doesn't always fly or work.

Yes, if $ is a problem, we are screwed (at least for the short term).
I don't know what will happen.
And my feelings about whether or not we "lose out" (my words) won't Impact whether or not that happens.

It just seems like Hobbs has to find a way to make a transition work to a new coach who can get it done here.

Do we have to wait for Coach A (a home run hire), or should we settle for Coach C (a double)?
If we wait another year and save a million on Jordan's buyout, does that realistically move us from Coach C to Coach A (or even Coach B who might be a triple)?

What if we keep JORDAN another year, but have LESS donations and FEWER season ticket holders (there is no way ticket holders are increasing next season). How much will we lose in $ by delaying the inevitable by another year?
I'd venture to say it would be close to a wash $wise, so why not just do it now?

The key is for Hobbs to come up with a decent set of candidates and get the boosters who care about basketball to fund it.
The worse this season looks, it seems like the easier the sell should be to those boosters (but maybe at the expense of making the job look less attractive?)

Also, does waiting another year really get us closer to funding the practice faciltity? If people are willing to help fund it, wouldn't rhose people want to do so NOW and not wait another year because doing so will take it that much longer to have a positive impact on the program?

By the way, I love reading your posts GRFig about the games, the team's performance, the coaching, etc.
It is like the Monday morning breakdown of actual basketball "stuff".
Keep providing that, please.
Your insights into the game are valued!
