Reminder: B1G MLAX Tourney: RU vs. Hopkins 8:00 Thursday on BTN

Holy sh*t. I did my best to make this happen. I didn't watch the game (but I did follow this thread in silence). Karma is everything. Truly an amazing feat to beat JHU twice in one season and at their place to boot.

Watched the entire game. Impressive performance. Lots of different scoring options and the defense anchored by Alleyne really settled down at the end. The team was pumped at the end and earned the right to celebrate. Hopefully they have done enough to get in the tournament regardless of the outcome Saturday. They have proven they can hang with Maryland. Just play loose and go for it!

Hats off to our midfielders today. They logged a lot of time and posted on a day when our attack wasn't playing amazingly well.

Also, our D. They held Hop scoreless for 12 minutes to end the game.

Then Alleyene. Nothing more to say. His play said it all.

He's gotta stop taking shots like that late in games. I know he was probably frustrated tonight, but he's gotta realize the time of possession is more
important than scoring a goal right there.

I agree with you. It's very tough for these kids. They are balls to the wall all game, then to settle it down and not make plays just isn't in their DNA.

Hopkins made it a point to take him out of the game I think. He was shadowed most of the game by one of their top defenders, I forget the guy's name. That's one of the most frustrating things in the world to an offensive playmaker.

It's getting scary for other teams now. Even on a day where our attack didn't play their dynamic selves collectively, we still win. Our middies stepped up huge.

And the way we play...just an awesome style.

Watching again. As a player, watching their first four goals, you do not expect your goalie to save any of them. They are dunks at this level.

YES!!!

Question -
Is Alleyne a senior?
What year is he?

Feels great to be a Rutgers fan!

We are B1G baby!

(Hey, how about that?
The 2 new schools are in the final.)
Yes he is a senior and having quite a stellar ending to his career, but Edelmann who got hurt this yr. beat him out. He has two yrs. left I believe.

Great win! What do you think Cali, does this punch our ticket to NCAAs?

I do. I really do. There are few if any other at large teams with 2 top 10 wins and 2 top 20 wins.

Only thing hurting us is our SoS. I could actually see us getting in over Hopkins now, but I think the B1G is a 3 bid league this year, like last. Hard to keep them out too.

Stony Brook losing today helps. If I was say, a Navy fan, I'd be very concerned. There are others. Villanova losing puts them out and Marquette in, imo.

But hey, we play for a championship Sat! Let's get that one and not have to worry about it!

Going to be a tall order, but Maryland is a funny team. Just as easily as they can dominate, they can look pedestrian very often. I say that knowing they have won I think 11 straight. But it has often been hard. Let's see what happens on a neutral field. Go Knights!

How to justify them over us after we beat them twice including a tournament game on their home field. That would be a major "FU" to us IMHO.

Really good win last night! Hope we can carry this momentum into Saturday's game (with focus).

Couldn't sleep so watched the replay out here in the middle of the night. Brodeur, I mean Alleyne, was incredible in the second half. Transition , fast break offense is fun to watch but the set offense was not as effective tonight. Tough to criticize a defense that held JHU scoreless for over 12 minutes at the end, but they gave the Blue Jays too many easy, open looks.
I agree with Cali's observation that this win was especially sweet because they know they can play better; whether they can do so against the top ranked Terps will be the challenge.

I love the up tempo game RU plays. Here a few comments from a former college lax player who is not an RU alum but was pulling for them last night:

1. While certainly not "fair and balanced", the refs were not as bad as they were portrayed in this thread. They pretty much let them play. And while Hopkins got the benefit of a lot more "no calls" and OOB calls RU got away with their fair shares of poke checks that brushed the face mask and pushes. Someone mentioned the delay of game call. That was legit. It's been called tight throughout D1 this year. The disallowed goal call was legit. The replay showed his foot stepped on the goal line before the ball was in the net.

2. Alleyne had a "Fantasy Island" game in the 4th quarter. Truly outstanding and locked the game up.

3. RU needs a #2 FOGO. The faceoff violation calls got into the head of the main guy and it made him ineffective.

4. Although they improved as the game went on the back side D needs to tighten up. This was a problem in the Ohio State game.

As far as the NCAAs go I'd say the odds got a lot more favorable. I can't believe both Albany and Stony Brook lost last night. I doubt that 3 America East teams will get bids, but Stony Brook's win over RU gives them a snowballs chance in purgatory. And never count out Hopkins when it comes to the committee. Of course a win on Saturday wraps up a bid. But if they were to lose, a close game against a sure Top 4 seed like Maryland will impress the committee.

So happy to wake up and see this today. We had a high school tournament game last night (we were the lower seed and smoked the higher seed) but I came home and passed out. HUGE WIN. Amazing.

That was the greatest 3/4 of a game I have seen. as my recording of the game cut off the last quarter. :weary:
That said this was one of the most disappointing JH crowd I have seen in a very long time. (yes I know weeknight and drab weather and well playing "Rutgirls" does not get the big draw either.) Example last year our final osu game had more fans then this game showed. As a matter of fact in listening to the crowd Rutgers was as loud as JH fans were, I would guess we had a very good turn out with Rutgers DMV fans and the ole faithful.
Way to go MEN/WOMEN LAX[banana][banana][banana][banana]

I totally disagree with number 1, including the goal they took away on the push call. Clearly a goal. I watched the game again and the missed even more than was thought in real time.

My prediction on the tourney- RU and Hopkins both make it giving the B1G 3 teams. Like last year.

Great win! Was driving up to Boston last night for work (and, of course, stopping at Mohegan Sun for a few hours), so I missed this completely. Really great to see the team doing so well. I remember some very good years in the 80s under Tom Hayes and I always thought we'd be a top team, but that didn't quite materialize. Maybe now...

For clarification, you're disputing the delay of game call?

Which one on us or them?

I'm disputing the goal disallowed by Beida. His foot was no where near the crease before the goal which was the claim. And he wasn't just pushed in the crease, he was hit from behind into the crease.
