Reminder: B1G MLAX Tourney: RU vs. Hopkins 8:00 Thursday on BTN

I thought part of the improvement for Alleyne after the first quarter was improved coverage by our defenders. We were giving up point blank opportunities in the first. Good thing our offense was clicking as well or that could have been a different road to ride. The one save in the fourth quarter was ridiculous. He gave the D the credit in the post game presser. But I thought that was all him. Agree that the call on Hopkins defender for a push should have been let go given the scoring. It was a bang bang play.

Which one on us or them?

I'm disputing the goal disallowed by Beida. His foot was no where near the crease before the goal which was the claim. And he wasn't just pushed in the crease, he was hit from behind into the crease.

The one on RU. Consistent with the way it's been called all over D1 all year. And for at least the last 5 years, hits from behind have been downgraded to pushes all over lacrosse. Almost like compensation for the huge upswings in "unnecessary roughness "calls on hits that would have been righteous when I played. That got out of hand this year.

Stupid article it ends at the third quarter!
hello Baltimore Sun I guess you can't say Rutgers whipped JH a$$ in the fourth quarter, writer chocked on this keyboard
I'm sure they'll plead deadline pressure but it is funny when you know they have to go back and rewrite a story when the outcome doesn't match expectation.
And they were not sparing in critiquing the faults, but definitely a "We lost" angle over a "They won" which you would expect.

As far as the NCAAs go I'd say the odds got a lot more favorable. I can't believe both Albany and Stony Brook lost last night. I doubt that 3 America East teams will get bids, but Stony Brook's win over RU gives them a snowballs chance in purgatory. And never count out Hopkins when it comes to the committee. Of course a win on Saturday wraps up a bid. But if they were to lose, a close game against a sure Top 4 seed like Maryland will impress the committee.

Safe to say it would be very damaging if Penn upset Yale today. We don't need any bid stealers.

Do you think Marquette is in regardless of the Big East final vs. Denver?

Other than those two games, anything else we should watch out for the next couple of days?

That hit on Beida would have been unnecessary roughness in every game I watched this year. Look at the photo. Dude left his feet and launched. That ain't a push.

The one on RU? Sure ok. How about throne where their guy took the ball and ran with it slowing the game down, only to have the refs have the ball brought back. Much more of a delay than what they called on us. Home wood is known for homecooking. Last night was par for the course.

We beat them and the refs.

It was a combination. The D tightened and Kris made incredible saves when they faltered.

The first 4 goals were all on the D. The greatest goalie to ever play wouldn't be expected to stop those.

Cali,
Is the current rule in lacrosse similar to football where a receiver's catch can still be good even if he is forced out of the field of play by the defender? It seemed obvious to me that Beida was forced into the crease and it was done so through an illegal hit which would make the goal good.

You really want both Brown and Yale to win today. If another Ivy gets the AQ there's likely 3 teams in from that league. After that you want Air Force over Richmond, St. Joseph's over Hobart and Quinnipiac over Marist. Laxpower still shows RU very much on the bubble in the hunt for the tourney. The fewer upsets the better.

How could we beat Johns Hopkins, twice, by multiple goals both home and away, We're 11-5 and they're 8-6, and their "signature wins" the announcers kept drooling about over Towson and Cuse were both in Overtime by 1 goal, and they could still get in instead of us?? What's wrong with that logic ?

It seems right to you. Totally blown call. Their claim was that his foot was in the crease, thus negating the goal. Watching the reply, it wasn't even close. Both of his feet were clearly outside of the crease.

In any other game, that is unnecessary roughness and the goal is good.

Different. If you're forced into the crease by a push or illegal hit and the goal hasn't been scored when it happens the penalty gets called and the goal is disallowed. There's no becoming "eligible" by getting back in bounds (or out of the crease).

Why is Notre Dame always rated 4 or 5 spots higher than they should be in preseason football polls?

Pretty sick photo of #20 Casey Rose, who had 3 goals last night. These are the type of athletes we have on the lax team now.

Lacrosse magazine's B1G Ten preview (written by a PSU alum.) Never forget...

Things like this just aren't really valid in lacrosse. This isn't D1 football where there are resources thrown at schools to watch and do research.

I bet this writer couldn't name one kid on the team without having to look at the roster.

Insiders of the program knew this team was ready to make noise. There were rumblings all the way back in the fall. It is a surprise the style we are doing it with and simply running over some teams in high fashion, but we always knew this team was going to make themselves heard.

To be honest I thought it was going to be next year.
