Renovation survey-Jersey Mike's

If you guys want to be big time then you're going to have to spend more on tickets. Duke tickets are always expensive. We have a similar capacity. If you want money flowing into the program then you're going to have to schmooze donors. It is what it is.

I think the changes and upgrades are great.
It sounds like a lot of long time fans get priced out
Not so great imo

The questionnaire will lead to the answers Hobbs wants and the displacement of 200 low level fans (maybe 100 level fans too) in exchange for corporate amenities and seats that will only be occupied some of the time. I just want to watch good basketball in a fun arena from decent seats. I don’t need overpriced food and overpriced beer and table tops.

The survey was very interesting in what it did not include and that was space to express any countering opinion.
I responded to the survey which went back to him with EXACTLY that response.
Folks should still be able to do that.

They are totally going to sell out here. Look at the best seats at Yankee stadium. Usually half empty.
Just like what used to be 118 now.
Income over atmosphere.
College sports as we knew it at Big time programs is dead. It's not even semipro . That's fine but let's not pretend. That's all.

Lol at them thinking 300 level seat buyer wants club access

Again out of touch

Poorly constructed survey
Actually thought that was a great offering and these types of “hybrid” offerings where you get premium treatment/base ticket is becoming best practice in rhe industry.

Hobbs really understands what todays consumers are looking for and where the industry is and is going.

I don't disagree. I'm just saying they need to add improvement and benefits for the avg. Fan and individual ticket buyer. Cleaner better restrooms, an area to buy and enjoy a drink inside the place.
That's all.
Those things were all in the survey too so it looks like Rutgers is saying the same thing.

Other than your willingness to get bought out without regard to your historical support and suffering.. you get my vote to run the show.
I'm about winning
Period
If me getting bought out is better for the program, and I go to 10 games instead of 20, so be it
There hasn't been much winning during my tenure
There's no guarantee there will be if I get bought out
All I know is this is the way college athletics is going
It's either pay up (via tix and NIL) or get left behind

The OP taking about 300 a game to 25000 a season shows how out of touch he is
300 a game was for a few options. Imagine buying 2 seats for 5 games at 3 grand ( if you can).
Honestly I have the cash to do so but I am not going to. There is so much more I can do with those dollars...
I actually have always thought of Rutgers fans of being overly tight.. but now am beginning to think they are perhaps grounded better than most.

Let’s move this program forward where it belongs. The days of minimal doners sitting in premium seats is coming to an end and thank god. Most of you are just being selfish and thinking about your bottom line and not what the program needs. For years most of you ignored what this program needed so you can keep being frugal. When you lose your seats it’s no one’s fault but your own.
We found Pat Hobbs' burner account.

And how much NIL are we sucking from the fan base.
NIL and tickets are two separate buckets and not much, as unfortunately, we're one of the least funded NIL programs out there

Hopefully that will change one day soon with either fan buy-in or a whale donor (s) / corporations coming on board

If they are going to destroy the atmosphere anyway, wouldn't it be better to just build a new facility? SHU plays in a "hockey arena", so what?
Yes, build a new arena FOR BASKETBALL. Not a hockey arena that you play basketball in.

Tell that to Ace and Dylan. They came here without big NIL deals?
People paying more for seats have lass for NIL. No? That's my point.

Dog.. as long as they don't leave the fan base behind. You can have a plan to milk the cash cow and keep the broader herd happy. I'm sure 99% of the base would agree.

Timeline makes no sense imo. Do this kind of upgrade after we win a tournament or Championship regular season or otherwise. Are we going to do renovations during Ace and Dylan’s 1-2 years here?

Kill the atmosphere right in time for the best recruiting class we will ever have.

1 tourney appearance isn’t success.

Be successful and then the donors come in. Don’t cater to donors who won’t drop a dime if we regress back to the mean in 4-5 years.

For the fun of it I just checked StubHub for tonight. You can buy 100 level seats for less than $100 each and we're playing a real opponent. There is no market for high dollar seats ($300-400+) even if there was a private bathroom, chicken fingers, and domestic beer.

Yep. Also keep in mind the other OOC games we have on the schedule. 100 level seats will be available for even less than $100.

There is a market for high dollar courtside seats.

There is a market for high dollar 100 level seats - but this market is more geared toward the premium conference opponents on the weekend which is probably only 10-20% of the home schedule.

Which is why the majority of the tickets will remain the same and there will be better WiFi and food and beverage.

People complaining about premium offerings SMH

95% of the seating will be the same general admissions offerings today and all season ticket holders will have access to a GA seat.

Win win tbh

I’m sure many of the people complaining have full season packages.

It’s easy to say these premium offerings sound great when you only attend a couple marque conference games on the weekend.

Or when you aren’t footing a crazy bill for full season packages when it includes OOC games on a cold weeknight against the likes of Howard, Long Island, St. Peter’s etc. or games at 8:30pm on a Tuesday and Thursday night.

they're both getting 7 figures
I'm referring to KOR and Knight Society funding specifically
NIL and seats are not mutually exclusive
some are fundamentaly against NIL
Others will fund it but not go as many games (likely myself)

The poeple with full season packages are keeping full season packages, and they’re keeping them in GA zones with the same effective experience.

I wish we scheduled better too but we have to live with our program not understanding the best strategy in that department.

I agree man, I heard the initial plans called for 9500-10,500 seats
Which is what most teams do (add extra's) so people dont get pushed out
Having only 8k will undoubtedly push people out; I'll defer final judgement until the plans are finalized, but 8k is way too small for what they have planned

I don't need better wifi. I go to watch the game not my phone. If better food n beverage means big lounge area..even if it costs $ to enter that would be just fine. I never have a bad time at the RAC. Just want better cleaner restrooms and a pregame area to enjoy things since you don't tailgate for bball.

In my experience the more money I spend on something the more willing I am to spend more money on that same thing.

This is why every company has a loyalty program and why every company up sells to their existing customer base with perks. They’re more likely to buy than Joe schmo.

How hard is that lol?

I don’t think this is going to be true. Or it’s way to early to say this.

All of the 100s and 200s are full season packages (and some of the 300s).

If they move forward with these plans and prices - there’s no doubt that folks will be bounced up much high (worse experience) or have to give up their tickets if they can’t afford or don’t want to pay the prices.

We don’t have 8000 season ticket holders. No way anyone gets pushed of and if that is wrong it would be something like 200 season tickets who would have the option do mitigate.

Well that’s good you’re getting those things you want in the renovation.

Hell bent on destroying the RACmosphere.
Hell bent on destroying loyal fan base.
Shame. All RAC needs is a nice concourse and bathrooms and if Jersey Mikes is truly our sponsor some cheesesteaks and subs all the time.
As for acoustics, they said new Garden would be just as loud after all their studies and well paid architects, it’s not.
Met Life sucks
Yankee Stadium concourse is a shopping mall.
Be careful what you wish for…

There is no experience difference 10 rows higher than where you sit today other than the people who can hear the coaches verbatim during timeouts over the speaker system.

at this rate just build a new arena. The cost to build new is probably it that far off from the cost to redo. Concerned this is “selling out” to the corporations and regular ticket holders will be priced out.

Richard, any idea when Hobbs will be releasing the renderings to the public?
From the survey, I got the impression that those drawings were anything but final. There's a disclaimer on each one. What I saw looks nice, though. Looks like the questions cover most, if not all, the concerns I've seen on these boards.

No disagreement here

Pushed out = priced out of the building
E.g. you have 8k seats now, final new place has 8k
You build 2k more seats to compensate for those who won't pay $ / can't afford it
Not all will do it, but you give them the option
8k in the new joint means you'll have a decent amount of people not moving over
Again, i'll wait until the final #'s come out, but i'd be shocked if it was below 9500

I don’t think they can add that many but I’m sure they are trying to add as many as possible. Even if that’s the case, No one is getting pushed out. Maybe some people lose their sweet deal ant mid court and they don’t like the new options but I expect lots of pricing options to be available to everyone.

I would expect that as well
We're still 2 years out from the building start phase so a lot can change
They have it in their minds what they want to do, and will pre sell a lot of the loges/boxes before any shovel is in the ground
Either way, it'll provide much needed $ for this program, which I truly believe can be one of the elite of college bball in due time
