Russo - elite 11 performance and star rankings

From that video:

1. "He DOMINATED--D-O-M-I-N-A-T-E-D"
2. The light shines bright inside of him--kids gravitate to him.
3. I absolutely love this kid
4. Great dance moves.
5. Textbook sluggo footwork--what does this mean?
6. Biggest cheerleader for other competitors.

Ladies and gentlemen, we have ourselves a great kid, a leader, and a winner!!!

He was a one year starter. That probably explains the ranking. It's probably a good guess that not many teams even saw him play a live game, so that also explains the lack of offers. If he had 22 TD's and 2 INTs as a HS Soph he would have dozens of offers and 4 stars.

I would interesting in knowing who the starting QB was it his school before he became a starter as a Junior.

Last fall, Russo beat out incumbent Tom Garlick (also a junior), as Archbishop Wood’s quarterback - - Garlick had been a two-year starter,
After the Wood staff decided on Russo, Garlick , the Vikings’ starter on the previous year’s Class AAA state champion, left the school. He transferred into St. Joseph’s Prep

I remember in his On the Banks interview, Jonathan Pollock's dad mentioned that his son fell in the rankings right after he committed because his recruitment was no longer a story for the recruiting services. If that's the case, maybe Russo won't be moving up any.

Looks like some of the 247 composite rankings were updated and Russo comes in at #30 for pro style QBs at the moment. Was at #57 before. Huge jump! Before the Elite 11 final even happened

Plenty of coaches got to see him live. They had two players last year with multiple BCS offers including Rutgers. This year there is Russo and another player who have FBS offers. They also have a kid in the class of 2017 with five BCS offers including Rutgers. There were probably FBS coaches at every game he played. You excuse would hold water at most schools but this school always has big time players.

Hunt has posted Part 1 of a two-part interview with Trent Dilfer. Apparently, in spite of what some people would like to believe, Anthony Russo is, in fact, the Real Deal.

I don't want to take a way from Russo's performance in any way, but it is just one camp. People might be blowing it a bit out of proportion.

Personally, once a kid is coming to RU, I don't really care about his star ranking any more. I care for kids we are recruiting, because it helps me gauge how good others think they are, but once a kid commits to RU, it doesn't really matter. He will be as good as he is for us. He will either prove the "recruiting experts" right, or he will prove that Flood and staff have are good at identifying under-recruited talent.
You are right it IS just one performance. But that ONE performance had Trent Dilfer raving about him. Dilfer is one of the few talking heads that I respect..
