Rutgers begins Big Ten Conference action this weekend with back-to-back road matches at No. 24 Indiana in Bloomington and No 4 Ohio State in Columbus

I disagree. RU are ranked lower in almost every match. You want to wrestle and improve your potential seed. A loss in any of these matches doesn’t hurt but a win is huge

RU has an opportunity in every match to improve seed except 165 where Birden is unranked.
I disagree. Health is more important than trying to improve seed. If you can’t wrestle at nationals then your seed is pointless. It’s the era of load management.. as evident by PSU.. not that they gotta improve seed but it’s clear the goal is just make it to nationals healthy. Loss doesn’t hurt but an inj could.. and mentally it could wreck confidence, it’s not a complete freeroll as it seems. I was just trying say if our wrestler got a flu then don’t go, leave any excuses at the door. It’s ok if we lose as long as the effort is there and we learn something.

Birden is good he just beat #12 Scoles. He was replacing Sasso and will be ranked very soon if Sasso isn’t rdy to go. Same with Shumate, unranked backing up Geog, but also very good taking out #11 Branagual.

Obviously you don’t want to wrestle an injured wrestler, but that’s different from bumps, bruises and sniffles. If you don’t care where you seeded at nationals, than don’t wrestle. Sit out all the tougher matches and you’ll be stuck with a lot of bad seeds. As far as PSU. Every starter has wrestled every match this year except Davis when he got hurt against Crookham. So not sure why you implying they sitting starters?

Not implying them sitting starters.. just saying they don’t attend many tough tournaments anymore or wrestle a heavy match schedule.. are u denying this? It’s the era of Load management many teams are wrestling fewer and fewer are u denying this as well? Anyways, don’t get butt hurt or triggered no one ducking or w.e just pointing out what direction the sports been heading.. it’s not right or wrong it just is what it is.

I don't understand why you are wasting your time talking to this little sissy. You're too smart for that. This guy is a consummate troll on this board and runs back and tattle tales to his little penn state butt buddies.

Dean looking quick and great so far. Very impressive. He’s a completely different wrestler when he looks to attack and stay on his offense.

Didn’t love seeing Dean landing on his head on that mat return. He looked a bit dazed for a few seconds afterwards. Hopefully no residual impacts from it.

McCrone and Bouzakis have combined for 0 shots through 5 periods and Rutgers has 3 stall calls

It’s still unlikely but every path to upset Ohio State included wins by both Peterson and Shawver. Not having Olivieri stinks because he could keep 141 to a decision, but going to need to win a few toss ups the rest of the way. Might need some Soldano magic or a 6-4 bout split. There are some winnable matches throughout the night.

No chance that’s a takedown before the clock expired but Clark can’t stop wrestling until he hears the whistle.

To your earlier point I’m happy we won a few matches….one or two more and the match could be considered a success
Honestly winning the match would be considered a success. Winning 4 matches would definitely exceed my expectations though.

Clark loses in TB. He was exhausted and gave up the quick escape unfortunately. Great match by him though. Wrestled very well against the AA and was extremely close to winning prior to TBs.

Great match from Clark. Ran out of gas going for it in SV. Shame he lost because he was the better wrestler all match.
I agree – – I hate the rule on those 2 30 second period. When I was in high school after the sudden victory, it went to areferee’s decision. In this case, I don’t see how they could not have given it to Clark, even though I am far from an expert on the sport.

Don’t love choosing bottom there. Just cost them a team point.
Are you sure he did. Pretty sure he choose neutral in 2nd and McCrone took top in 3rd?

Bc why would McCrone take neutral in 2nd when getting destroyed on his feet

Peterson up 11-2 after 1. 3 takedowns and nearfalls against #10 mccrone.

Goodale wasted his brick though looking for one extra point.
In retrospect, if he picked up that point there would’ve been an extra team point.
