Rutgers Softball Makes First Big Ten/ACC Challenge Appearance This Weekend

The Rutgers softball team plays four games against the ACC's Syracuse and Duke. RU opens up with the Orange on Friday at 3:00 p.m. while on Saturday the Scarlet Knights matchup with Syracuse at 3 p.m. followed by taking on the host Blue Devils at 5:30 p.m. Challenge action wraps up on Sunday at 12:30 p.m. with Duke.

My daughter goes to Florida State so I pay attention to their sports. They are ranked 8th. Minn and NW both beat them this weekend so looks like Big 10 will be tough.

Rutgers went 1-1 on day two of the Big Ten/ACC Challenge as the Scarlet Knights picked up a second victory over Syracuse, 10-5, but were unable to overcome the host Duke Blue Devils in a 22-1 loss in the night game.

Saturday's split moved the Scarlet Knights to 5-3 on the season and a 2-1 record in the challenge.

duke isn't a power house...they had a losing record last year....in two games the total score was 24-1....i know its very early in the season. we have a young team with some very talented freshman....and two are very good pitchers...hitchcock, and vickers.....hitting doomed us in the post season last year....we are in a tough conf....the bats need to wake up before our conf. opener

Softball Drops Decision To Duke in Final Game of Big Ten/ACC Challenge


The Rutgers softball team closed out the Big Ten/ACC Challenge on Sunday dropping a 2-0 decision to host Duke to finish the challenge weekend 2-2.

The loss dropped the Scarlet Knights to 6-4 overall. The Blue Devils, meanwhile, went 4-0 in challenge play and won their fifth-straight to improve to 8-1 overall.

You're thoughts on Duke are a complete misrepresentation. Citing 24-1 is not indicative of the games. Games were 22-0 and 2-1. Much different than say 12-1 and 10-0. Duke is also 8-1 this year.

I read that by itself one would think RU got blown out in both games when one score was actually 2-1. Duke having a losing record last year, how doe that play into it when they are 8-1 this year?
