Rutgers Visits Blake Harris, 17 PG

UConn hired the Washington assistant fired from Romar's staff....(Chillous).....I expect UConn to have a significant lead since they were recruiting him before, but landed other players, but they have more guards in the way of Harris playing right now....NCState and RU make more sense to get minutes and play/contribute...Missouri has the other assistant and what was going to be his future teammate and Porter Jr.

I think UCONN maybe the team to beat here. Raphael landing on Ollie's staff is big with him I heard.

If he takes all his visits, having the last one is good. But there's always the chance he can commit before we get him on campus. UConn and Mizzou are tough. Chilleous alrwady has that relationship, like Hawk said.

Our best chance given the current situation is going last. If he steps on campus, than it shows he's willing to listen and I think pike can really sell a strong vision with a whole day on his hands.

Yeah, our best shot here is going last. The hope here seems to be that he gets through the UConn visit without a commit.

I disagree. Your best bet is going early.

Chances are it may not ever get to your visit.

All visits are different, but I agree with michst in this case. Kid is close to Porter and has strong ties to Uconn now. I would be surprised if he sets foot on our campus.

From my vantage point, 2 schools are the most likely choices. We are not either of those schools.

So, I bet no matter what he would want to see Mizzou/UConn.

However, as he goes on more visits, the luster of each visit fades. Thus, I rely on the old fallback of last visit = the one that sticks in a kid's mind.

Maybe we can take up an "unofficial" collection here and fill a FedEx box full of cash and hand to him discreetly at spring game. It worked for Chris mills

It is so weird when looking at recruits, specifically "Point guards" how hard it seems to find a true pg who is selfless.

Jesus. I know a lot of films are AAU, but true pgs are a diamond in the rough these days. Lots of people are seemingly combo guards.

Saw Ashton-Langford twice on TV this summer at Peach Jam---------really nice player.

I really hope he doesn't commit before our visit. This is going to be tough

Ga Tech where did they come from? I wonder if he meant NC St? The last 5 were suppose to be RU, MichSt ,UConn, NC St &Missouri...I hope he makes it to us , his last visit!! Closing this deal would be a major score for RU BB!!!

No he met with Pastner:

I tend to laugh when players that pick schools like Alvarado did with GTECH, suddenly watch their coaching staff immediately run down another PG to play over them in the same recruiting class, as soon as that player suddenly becomes available.

I have no idea if Harris will truly entertain or consider Georgia Tech, but my guess would have been that Alvarado attended the games at MSG a couple of weeks ago for the NIT semifinals and finals, where GTECH was playing. Less than 2 weeks later, his potential playing time as a freshman, suddenly doesn't go out the window, but has the potential to go out the window, if Harris were to pick GTECH.

If Geo Baker wasn't such a potential talent that can play both guard positions and wasn't 6'4", RU could have had the same problem with Harris being pursued by our staff....but Baker can score, playing shooting guard and potentially be a PG where Alvarado is pretty much limited at 5'11 to 6'0" as a PG....GT's pursuit of Harris has the potential to completely be called "competition" but on the surface, it looks like a potential future transfer already likely for a local recruit, if Harris were to pick GT and Alvarado potentially doesn't play as much as he initially hoped he would. My guess would be Harris starts earning minutes over Alvarado as a better and more game ready PG.

This in no way is stating that I have any knowledge of what may or will happen, but when fans ask what happened to a Top 150 -250 recruit suddenly transfers, fans suddenly say "well, the player only averaged 2PPG as a freshman".....that may be true, but if the player doesn't earn minutes because there are too many kids at the same position, what is the player supposed to do??

And I'm not knocking Josh Pastner or Georgia Tech, he earned ACC coach of the Year in Year one and is charged with doing as much as he can, to get GTECH back in the discussions at the top half of the ACC. Coaches pretty much don't have any choice in a lot of cases, but to try and accumulate as much talent as possible. Just bears watching as there are a LOT of talented PG's for 2017 currently available this late in the process.

Hawk, you seem extremely high on Baker. Good to see.

IMO GTECH going forward is going to be a player nationally.

Excellent league and Atlanta is a great town to go to college in.

What's the point of the NLI? Now, guys want to get out of it because an ASSISTANT Coach left?
I don't blame them. Recruits usually have a better relationship with an assistant coach than the head coach. It's usually an assistant who leads their recruitment & is their main point of contact.

Georgia Tech has been a player nationally for decades because of the very reasons you listed. Just had a down period after some NCAA sanctions under Paul Hewitt that Brian Gregory had to clean up.

If all college sports are the same you only get 5 official visits. Not good to be the 6th on the schedule.

Georgia Tech, for many years, provided St John's-like (ahem) Felipe Lopez housing allowances to its players. Ask Bobby Cremins.

Must have worked because for awhile they won.

Then Hewitt had to start playing his guys and the program tubed.

I like being last and the pitch with Porter isn't really so great as he's one and done. We are in the game if he doesnt get pressured into another school along the way.
Mizzou may also land 5-star forward Kevin Knox. I think Knox is on an OV in CoMo right now.

I could see Nike making that happen to help get Cuonzo off to a good start

I know Knox is visiting Mizzou but still would be shocked if he didn't end up at Duke.
