More observations from this afternoon's session:
Session opened with a loud playing of Ozzy Osbourne's classic "Crazy Train' which got all the Roided up Rasslin Fans in a lather ! lol
The Garden did a great job w huge video screens everywhere showing action on all 8 mats, plus the PA guys were obviously wrestling vets who kept the crowd informed on everything going on. The Huge 4 sided screen that hung from the ceiling was also very helpful keeping tabs on other bouts.
RU crowd did a great job of cheering on the Rider Wrestlers (NJ kids). The loudest crowds in order (IMO) were : Penn St, Rutgers, Cornell, Va Tech, Ohio St, Okla St. Surprisingly , Iowa didn't have as large a crowd as I thought, same with Mich, although both MIch and Iowa have BB games tonight in the NCAA at Barclays Brooklyn.
IMO- most impressive wrestlers are Nashon Garrett, Dierenger, Retherford and Snyder.
Best Gyro anywhere is on 7th Ave , 1 block N of MSG called Gyro II. Worth the train ride just for the Gryo w a little extra Tzikzki (sp?) sauce.
Man, are the beers in the Garden expensive ,lol, and the surrounding bars too!
Seeing 18,000 College Wrestling fans wearing their colors and shirts and hats in a small area is a sight in itself.
Great to see Bernstein (Voorhees HS/Navy) come back from concussion protocol and finish his bout.
McFadden's (DePaul, Va Tech) come back win over the Penn St wrestler had both fan bases going back and forth cheering, sections right next to each other)
Rider's Walsh (younger bro of Tj) had one of the most entertaining bouts of the day , tons of scrambles and scoring. Older brother TJ , Cherry HIll, was a Pinning machine in both HS and at Indiana like nobody's business. Stone Cold Pinner !
I kept waiting for Bruno Sammartino to appear from a tunnel, but in never happened. Damn.
Can't wait til 8 ! The B lood Round !
