Rutgers wrestling projected lineup with Nick Suriano added | Deepest, best ever?

Pretty much has been discussed on here ad nauseum, and I'm so excited that I could talk about it again and again. Yes, we have 4-5 guys who are capable of winning AA if healthy. That's double our best showing.. Mind you, some really good freshmen and redshirts enter the fray around the country too, so it's not as if making it to the bloodrounds the year before is an automatic ticket to AA.

That Wrestling News thread is way to long.

Hard to sift through 37 pages to find news.

Easier when each piece of news has a new thread.

Before being polluted by the PSU trolls, the Wrestling news thread was excellent. With the new feature that allows you to pick up where you left off, it is really easy to have everything in one place, and that way I only need to check one thread.

Were we ranked #3 one year somehow because we beat Virginia tech and Lehigh?? Might have been just a dual meet ranking.. but yeah we had a solid guy at every weight that year but no AA to finish season.

Yeah, but if you havent kept up for whatever reason, it's hard to sift through 1500 posts and 37 pages to find a nugget of information.

Much easier to see a title Suriano to Rutgers instead of buried.

I don't know to what nugget you are referencing. Certainly, Suriano to RU merits its own thread, and has had many threads dedicated to the topic.

If you wanted to catch up on the entire offseason after having paid no attention, it would be much easier (and more comprehensive) to read one very long thread that is on the front page, than go looking through the archive for all different threads, the titles of which you will not know.

Ok, we can agree to disagree.

Example, If Ashnault blew out a knee and it was just in that thread, one wouldn't know unless you checked every post.

Much easier to see a thread title with that heading.

If you didn't know an athlete blew out a knee, and the thread was not on the front page, would you ever look for it? By having it in the "News" thread, you actually get the news by only checking the board every once in awhile. That was my point.

Va Tech was No. 3 when we beat them. We were top 10, and then we lost to Lehigh that year.

With Ashnault back
2 AA's almost guaranteed (AA and NS) - barring unforseen events and past history
3 blood rounds (Lewis, Gravina, Delvechio)
Possible blood rounds (Pagano, Vanbrill)
Probable NCAA Qualifier (149#, 197#)
Possible Qualifier (285)

Is this realistic or am I crazy?
I would think the over/under of AA's should be 3.5
I think this would get us between 8-12 in the tournament.

I honestly could see us sending all 10 to the wrestling dance, just like two years ago. As far as AAs are concerned, Ashnault, Lewis and Suriano are locks with Gravina, DelV and DeLuca with a good chance to AA. I think if all breaks our way, we could have SIX AAs this year (Ash, Lewis, Suriano, Gravina, DelVecchio, and DeLuca). Don't sleep on someone like Pagano either who could make a run in March as well.

What r some of Deluca's results or what makes u feel he has good chance to AA? I've heard some hype on him

It's just truly amazing how far we've come. From the chopping block all the way up to this. Looking forward to the day when this type of team is a normal occurrence. It'll happen one day, for now I'm just so damn excited for this season.

Zappa
AA is now rehabbing shoulder and bursa sac surgery so he would be back December/January at best. Hopefully he would get a 6th year medical and come back 100% in 2018-19. That is my hope. Don't know about others.

I agree Bill. I would rather him come back next year then half the year this year at prob 70%. Hopefully he gets a medical and sits the year out.

Wouldn't you have to sit out the year and then apply for the 6th year medical hardship waiver. That's a big gamble. If they don't grant it your done. I think they do it this way so if you can compete then you compete.

This is correct.

I was told they could apply this September that he would not compete this year as his second year and hope his first year qualifies as a medical red shirt. They would learn by October if it were granted. If not then he would try to make it back in Ja/Feb. if they grant him a 6th year he could sit out whole year.

Refreshing to know. You're the man.
