Season Ticket... Who's out?

So you guys are still watching? Just not going to the games?
I haven't been to many games at Rutgers over the past 3 years. #1 I have a horrible back (failed surgery) and I cannot make the walk up those stairs at the RAC. I went to the Rock for Princeton though as they had a nice escalator that took me right up to my seats. #2 I vacate NJ for most of Jan thru early March. So the commute is kinda tough from down south. #3, even if I did live here during that stretch I probably wouldn't go because I have a hard time watching this coach and the play he gets. Hey maybe that changes next year. Always hope.

So before you ask "but you'll watch on tv?" I'll just tell you I watch FAR LESS RU basketball on TV as well. Meeting up with a few fellow RU posters at a local place once and again to catch a game is a good reason to get out.

I'll probably go to a game or two early next season when some of those seats in the lower 200's open up as I still know they will. IF I can talk anyone to go with me.

Hope that helps.

This from a Seton Hall fan that would love RU to fall off a cliff. One of those classic phonies who meanders over here like a neutral observer but in truth is a RU hater . Maybe you want to "duel" me in front of the concession stand like Bac, and his brother ? Dopey. By the way who needs/wants you to defend himself . Your real issue is that you're pissed off that from time to time RU loyalists get reminded about what you really are about. And if you think this is about who has more " B- Ball " knowledge you're also an idiot besides being a phoney/ ahole.
Proved my point. Thanks.

Why are you asking questions like this

Its as if people who drop tix have to justify things to you. Odd flex. Its a difficult choice for people who are long time followers. Not sure of your need to start attacking them
So sensitive. Just trying to understand why some people are jumping ship.

Just curious who's bailing after the poor results the last few years. We'll likely be bad again too this year unless Pike finds a pot of gold this year to pay the mercenaries that are available.

I'm still staying because if I give up my seats in the 100's it will be very difficult to ever get them back.
Same here. Very disappointed but I renewed my seats in 114. Not sure how much more of the NIL era I can take.

I understand the transfers. Everyone wants to root for players for 3-5 years. It don’t like the current rules. I don’t get NIL complaints. These kids / young adults put in a ton of work, fill stadiums and make universities millions. They have been taken advantage of for years.
My complaint is not that they are getting paid. It’s the unlimited transfer rule that is ruining the game. No sports league anywhere in the world has unlimited free agency for a reason. It’s too destructive. Also, a handful of billionaires are skewing the market. Kids are getting paid way more than market value by outside money. If they were paid strictly at market rates generated only through revenue for hoops, guys like Cliff would not be getting $1.2 Million for 1 year. Very few teams can make money with a $12 million roster and a $6 million coaching staff.

I don’t understand all the hoopla about NIL. Without NIL, we don’t get Ace and Dylan.

Nobody in the right mind thought that we would barely squeak into the conference, let alone completely miss the NCAA, with two top five pics

If we actually has a competent coaching staff and roster to go along with it, nobody here would give two shits about NIL as long as we made a deep run into the tournament, and followed up with more momentum to continue the upward trajectory

For petes sake, it’s not like we were lighting the world on fire prior to this.

We made the tournament six times in 45 years, we weren’t some powerhouse that was selling out every night and making deep runs in the tournament.

In its current iteration, NIL is not good, and along with the portal, desperately needs regulation

But very few, if anyone on here, was mad when we got Ace and Dylan, nor would they have been angry, if we would’ve made a deep run in the tournament with them, which certainly would not have happened without NIL

Who really cares that we had Ace and Dylan? I was thrilled to get them because I thought it would lead to immediate and longterm success and we ended up getting squat. I enjoyed watching them play and I made sure I went to senior day to enjoy their last game at the RAC. However, there's no legacy they are leaving. It was just a fun blip in the road. I'm looking for a little big more out of one my main teams.

Well our corrupt vile AD help set up us back instead of being a leader
This is a major issue with me as well. In order to be competitive, we have to be forward thinking and being imaginative. We need an athletic department that is engaged and hard working with the core fans we have. To this day, we get none of that and this is not just because we have no current leader.

Not that fun of a blip. It was torture.

Quite a few people on this board sounded the warning alarms back in Oct that the current roster with Ace and Dylan could still yield a losing season. So many refused to listen.

That’s my point, you were thrilled initially, and the sole reason we got them was because of NIL

Hence, if we would’ve made a deep run into the tournament, you, and the majority of fans in general, would not haven given a shit about NIL

We didn’t lose this season because of NIL

We lost because of an inept coaching job, having another freshman hold us hostage for not getting a big man, and the inability of Pike to build a roster around two draft picks

The misuse of the portal sure hurt.

It was more rewarding supporting financially and with time spent, a team of 4 year players who lost a lot (Myles Mack, Mike Williams, CJ Gettys, Lamazana, Jerome Seagears, Kadeem Jack, Johnathan Mitchell, Corey Sanders, Geo Baker) but stayed 3-4 years and you grew with, than it was this year to do the same for a team of losers who also don’t care and leave after a year, just to chase even more money. Lathan Somerville, says my money and time spent wasnt enough and goes to our conference competition but a team that sucks even worse than us. I flew to Indiana and Oregon to watch this team, spent extra $$ to go to Newark and MSG games. Is the team or athletic department grateful for that? The ticket office scammy deadline thing is the last straw

Jesus. Renew. Don’t renew. Nobody cares. There will be plenty of people filling in behind.
I ask you the same thing I did the other guy. You want to bet?
No single game Tix were available this past year because it was sold out as season Tix pre s season ( haha).
So you want to make a wager it isn't completely sold out season Tix this coming year?

I agree with you. I don't blame NIL for our issues. I blame the years of Rutgers-ness that has led to poor leadership, poor pride in the state school by it's alumni and a lack of willingness to give back. All of this is coming home to roost and can't be blamed on the current situation.

FWIW, I still donate to Knights of the Raritan.

It’s good to watch on TV, need to validate the media contract. I feel like I am personally funding the upcoming rev share!!

LOL, try not to get your panties all in a bunch Karen. The question is very applicable as this is literally a thread about fans giving up their tickets and many posts include fans expressing how they will be "quitting".

The OP asked a yes or no type question. There was no what then will you do if it’s no. Some who answered chose to give the why, which is their option. The peanut gallery asking what will you do if it’s no isn’t part of the OPs question.

Who knows what people will do..I'm sure its not cold turkey..I feel like posts like these are trying to put a litmus test on people and set up gotcha moments

The real takeaway should be that there are a segment of disillusioned and dissatisfied fans yet some want to ignore and instead lob attacks on them

Some diehard fans can see the smoke but refuse to believe there’s a fire. MBB season tickets have always been a big time commitment and have now become a too-costly money commitment for some. With the state of the program and all of what is the college game today there’s going to be a drop in ticket sales. The season tickets sellouts and waiting list were entirely due to Dylan, Ace and expectations. They’re all gone.

Are you the posting police? The thread is well beyond a yes/no submission and obviously was meant to stimulate more conversation beyond 2 to 3 letter sing word responses. If you don't like the post or question feel free to ignore it or respond in kind.

Maybe I am the posting police. JK. But you didn’t cite the thread you originally cited the OP and that didn’t seem to require questions from others of those who answered. Discussions are fine. And you’re right I can choose to ignore you.

Why is OK for those that bitch and moan about our coaches, our future etc. and give multiple reasons why they may give up their tickets but others can't comment ? And then are accused of " lobbing attacks"? As usual the hypocrites protest what they do all the time. Whats good gor the....... you get the idea.

Why is it ok for you to keep giving foolish takes and keep trying to get blood from a stone with people’s lunch money.

I’ve decided to give up my 206 tickets. It sucks but I can’t justify it. What did you all decide?
I am on the verge of doing the same thing. Sad as I don't want to do it but there appears to be little hope of Pike putting together a team that will be competitive with one transfer so far and underwhelming returning players. Who knows how freshmen will perform but will probably not be ready for B1G. The whole transfer portal era is so depressing as it is all about $$$ and Rutgers barely has any.
