Season Ticket... Who's out?

Why you giving yours up too?

Btw “fans” like you make the decision a little easier.

Nope - not a fair weather fan (i.e. you). RU Alum - paid my own way. My son goes to RU and also attends games. Lived through all the very lean years - why would I give up now? Unlike you - I'm with RU for life.....again...unlike you. Hit the highway loser and GFY. All you do is complain here anyway.

Want a pissing contest a$$ ole? Fan attending games since 1983. Rutgers College grad 1990. Do you even know what Rutgers College is dumba$$? Put three kids through Rutgers. I’ve also lived through the lean years. Guess what they’re coming back. I can be a die hard fan and not have season tickets. And it’s none of your business my reasons for why I’m giving them up. Doesn’t at all mean I will stop rooting for them. I can also be a fan and be objective. And as for my posts on here they’re factual and analytical, sorry you wear rose colored glasses and your Rutgers education was wasted in that you only see them as negative. Rutgersal always asks how to expand the fan base. Having jerks like you not being a part of it would be a big help. I’m done with you. A true fan would try to convince me not to leave. You’re the dredge of the fanbase and not worth my time. You can have the last word because I won’t respond.

you bring nothing to this board besides policing people

You seem to be afflicted with Anger issues. Therapy and drugs might help.

You're also afflicted with hypocrisy. Spouting off on a public forum about how and why your giving up your Tix and then a few posts later claiming its none of my business why you're giving them up. Lulz.

"A True Fan" as you put it, would not be publicizing why they want to "quit" as an encouragement for others to do so. Nor would they need the support of posters on an anonymous board to try and convince them to stay.

You're seeking attention - and then when it comes your way and you don't like it.....you cry like the little victim you appear to be.

PS - just drove through Rutgers College today - took my team to Sahara for lunch. Was great. I'm in New Brunswick at least twice a week. I donate to RU and pay tuition. Your words about being some kind of great fan don't mean shit. Actions tell the truth.

Why do you get to determine what a true fan is? It means different things to everyone. You need to move along if you're so bothered by what's being posted here.

Renewing or not renewing is obviously a personal decision, as is donating to NIL

I’m renewing for a few reasons, but most notably because…

1. I enjoy the games
2. I love the Rac
3. I sit next to awesome people
4. I have great seats
5. It’s one of the very few vices I have in life
6. It keeps me relatively sane during the depressing, dark, cold, gray winter months.
7. Games are fun

It doesn’t mean that I enjoyed going at times this year. Or that we’ve seen great basketball over the past 45 years. Or that Rutgers doesn’t do some incredibly stupid things that they can fix in a millisecond that don’t frustrate the hell out of me.

But overall, it’s a pretty good deal to watch high-level basketball, and we don’t have to deal with obnoxious, drunk, and PRO sports fans that ruined the game to experience

Note… If and when they redo the rac and price me out of my seats, I will not be mad. I’ve had a great run, and I’ve had a ton of fun of the games, had some tremendous people and been there for some great wins. Most importantly, if I can bring in revenue to help the team succeed, I would be all for it

Thanks. 2 and 3 have me thinking a bit.

You didn’t drive through Rutgers College, because it no longer exists.

At 3:00 you were OUT. At 9:00 you’re back on the fence. We anxiously await this critical decision which could alter the course of Rutgers basketball for decades.
Let's not take any season ticket holders for granted
5 years ago, we were barely getting 4k on a weeknight
We've largely sucked for the better part of half a century
I don't blame anyone on the fence, given our history and how last year played out w/2 top 5 picks

Nah,that's not the problem. It's some guys trying to convince others to not renew by over and over again giving us their justifications why not to renew. Let's see if the biggest critic's leave the boards and RU fandom. Seems like they're so disinterested in Rutgers sports that they can't stop posting.

I get that
I also think a lot of us are extremely, and rightfully so, pissed off about how this past year went down
There's literally zero excuse for what happened

If I had multiple tickets, I might be on the fence
I only have one though, so for me, it's an easy decision

Also, I've only been consistently going to games for 20 years
There's a lot of other people who have been going much longer than that
So my frame of reference (and frustration level / tolerance) vis a vis theirs is likely signifgantly different

I greatly appreciate JayDogs perspective, it made me think about more than Pikes mismanagement. Your comments I could care less for (every one of them)

You think only season ticket holders are fans? Fool. Did it ever occur to you the reason for my post is that mentally I don’t want to give them up even with the solid reasons why I should. And I’m throwing out a life line for post like Jays to get me to reconsider. We really should be encouraging people to be ticket holders, not acting like some kind of snobby, elite, know it all Jacka$$ club

Everyone has different priorities
The Rac is home for me - half the reason why I'm renewing is b/c I'd be sitting home watching the game on TV, pissed off I'm not there

Others are ok watching it from home
I'm a live event guy - for me, I have to be there, live and in person

I get unbelievable amounts of FOMO when I'm not there

I think it is very interesting discussion to hear everyone's perspective, especially after last year's disappointment with 2 lottery picks. Asking the question of how much faith the fans have with this coach and the direction of Rutgers college basketball in NIL era. If you live outside of 30-minute radius of the RAC, season tickets are a huge time commitment. I still feel that it is tone deaf for Rutgers to ask for a commitment by season tickets when the roster is still very incomplete. That is just one person's opinion. No judgments.

Your level of self-absorption is over the top. Why should we be encouraging people to be in the “Club”? It’s none of my fracking business. I don’t care who’s in, who’s out, who renews, who doesn’t. And I’m not interested in reading fourteen chapters about your life-altering decision, so I guess the safest thing is to just skip over the entire thread. Thanks, I needed to talk through it to find a solution.

Then why are you clicking on the thread and posting in thread if you dont care

Is it to hear the ramblings of 66

Your idiocy is over the top. Aren’t there “joining the club posts” on here all the time. “Where’s the watch party”, “let’s talk about this recruit or game”. “Let’s donate more”. We’re supposed to be one big family. We’re a party when we win on here, and each other’s therapists when we lose. This is a core problem why our fanbase isn’t larger, people like you. Please do me a favor, you see a post from me, don’t read it. You do know you have that power right? Or, read it, then comment on it, this spending even more time on it, make sure to get upset and complain and tell us how much time you wasted. I don’t care what you do.

You finally got around to my point. “I don’t care what you do.” And we’re supposed to be one big family? Apparently a massively dysfunctional one.

Many of us with long ties to RU still have a tendency to call the Loius Brown Athletic Center the RAC and the College Ave campus Rutgers College. Old habits die hard.

02-06
When was that?
Didn't realize CAC was actually called Rutgers College at one point.
Just knew it was CAC.

Thought it was like Livingston College on Livingston Campus.
Rutgers College on College Ave Campus.

I am renewing two of my three seats, but I don’t know for how much longer. Over the course of the 35 years I have held season tickets, I never hesitated because of a losing record. However, the same thing that made me lose interest in pro sports years ago is causing my interest to wane in college sports. It’s just harder to root for athletes that are in and out every year that you never get to see develop.

Good points. There were a lot of losing seasons but we always looked for hope. Now in this professional environment the system seems designed to keep some teams down.

And if you don't give to NIL you aren't a fan also per RU66.
