Yes, because football in the trenches is a game of leverage. Tall players have a tougher time getting lower due to having longer torsos and legs in comparison to their 6'1 counterparts, so putting a 6'6 guy in the middle generally doesn't help the run defense too well, unless the guy really plays with top-flight technique.I believe it was Oregon who had 2 DL this past year 6'7" plus. They may both have been DE.
So are you saying the reason there aren't a lot of 6"6" or 6'7" DTs in college is very few can play "low" enough to be effective?
