Somebody Tell Ash to Offer Bridgewater KICKER NOW-Told Hes "Reconsidering"

His game , BR vs Westfield now being streamed on NJcom. His first KO only goes to the 15, didn't see it. Saw his 2nd KO, it went about 2 yards into the End zone, which is about the 3 in a college game, not bad. Not sure of the wind at MetLife today, or how much different the HS football is vs the College FB.

Went to one of his games when I saw him boot a couple out of the back of the end zone. He was only one of two for field goal on the day though when I watched him.

I disagree that people don't want the staff to offer a 'ship, just you don't force a 'ship if you are not convinced that the guy is close to a sure thing.

When did I say we should "force a ship". And people on this thread don't want to offer a ship, they want to offer a PWO and if it works out then offer a ship. My point is offering a PWO, which I agree is the method most often used, works if you have a kicker who is a jr or sr and you are looking for a replacement. We don't have that luxury. We don't have a kicker. DB was I/4 from +40. And missed 2 out of 22. PATs. Remember Ito, in 2006 he was 2/3 from +50 and 41/42 on PATs. Find a QUALITY kicker and make an offer.

I didn't say you did. I said the staff would offer a 'ship if they found someone they really liked, it just might not be the kicker from BW.

Sorry, I misunderstood your intent there. And I agree about this kicker. I have no idea if he is any good or not. All I know is that we need a good, quality kicker and should be willing to use a ship to get one.

He's a PWO guys...he doesn't really have scholarship range for FGs. Has a good leg for KOs and doesn't punt. We're not offering someone just to be a KO specialist. Hopefully he comes as a PWO, but we're probably recruiting other people for a full ride.

??? The link provided here to the one kicking school? (I was told they were "the experts"- had him at ~#16 in the country and made good comments about his range. The analyst during the state championship game today was raving about him and said he saw Davidowicz kick a ball "from the ground" on the opposing 30 through the far uprights (70 yards). I also heard his range is 50+ yards.

Smolar was ranked 7th by Sailor last year.

I would think that after this year, everyone knows a quality kicker is essential. Funny how most of the teams we played already have that guy.
Have to look harder to find the right kicker, but than pull the trigger.
Of course, maybe the rationale is that if you can't score points, a kicker isn't as important. Let's fix the offense first. However, than a great punter is needed. Either way, a kicker isn't just going to show up or we'll end up in the same situation, again.
If we're looking for the sure thing, probably won't find it right away.

Bingo. This thread has a lot of silly panic posts about kickers and how we have to offer a ship. Let Ash recruit.

How a team moves the ball and stops the other team from moving the ball affects field position way more. That comes straight from the world of obviousness.

Not so obvious...many drives are stalled at the 40 yd line. If you have a good kicker, the other team usually starts inside their 20. A great kicker, inside their 10. They play calling of the offense changes drastically. Thus, the kicker/punter does more to effect game calling then just about anything else.

A few notes:

1) He looks like my former RU punter buddy Gary Liska 1981-6
2) He's not listed on Kohl's to my knowledge-someone said Kohl's matters most.
I am wary about anyone who doesn't shop at Kohls!
3) I'm thinking Davidowicz probably still has his offer. On Kohls Davidowicz is ranked about the #16 kicker in the nation but around #80 as a punter.
4)Tucker reports he had a "solid" visit to Illinois.

He's a freakin' Army AA punter. That's all anybody needs to know as far as I'm concerned.

Somebody should tweet this to Tuckers twiiter. Just to let Tucker know bRUce does write a bad song...To me this is the Bruce equivalent of scratching chalk on a chalkboard. OH THE INHUMANITY! THE INHUMANITY!

Note to Tucker-when you see Bruce in NJ this is your "bathroom song"

This is GREAT to see IMHO. Ash has already backed-off his stance to NOT offer scholarships to punters and kickers. This will shut SOME people up.

Lol. Despite the fact that he had offered a punter, Feagles, earlier in the year.

Are you trying to prove my point? How'd you get to the 40?

Even great offenses get stopped at the 40. Bottomline- a punter can be as big of a game changer as the QB. If you have a punter who can regularly pin the opponent back, it changes the game. If you don't, well, no one on this board needs that explained to them. Same with a kicker...let's forget about kickoffs at the moment. What about FG's...your entire play calling on offense revolves around where he can kick from. Even the defense, if they know you can't kick from beyond 40...then on a 3rd and 8 at the defensive 35, they know it is going to be a safe play designed to at least give you a shot at a 4th and short. No way do you try to go deep and if you miss, you take the 3 points. Kickers CHANGE THE GAME.

Now that the cat is out of the bag. That is why I felt he was a PWO. I hope we get him for KOs but Day has the better leg IMO.

Just noting (no haters please) On ChrisSailerkcking.com Davidowicz is ranked the #14 KICKER. Day is ranked the #30 KICKER. Day is ranked the #1 PUNTER. Davidowicz the #60 PUNTER.
Not hating - he is listed as a 5 star Kicker AND Punter by Chris Sailer. In their rankings, he is considered a Division 1 prospect for both. Davidowicz is considered a D1 prospect as a Kicker and borderline D1 as a punter. Day is also much larger physically (6'2" 195lbs. vs. 5'9" 165lbs.) Day has multiple D1 offers.

Kohl's rates Day as a 5 Star punter, 3.5 star kicker -19th punter in class of 2017, no ranking as a kicker.

Kohl's has Davidowicz as 4.5 star punter, 5 star kicker - 73rd ranked punter, 18th ranked kicker.

I am not sure of the difference between the ranking services.

Would be GREAT to get the #14 kicker, however, would be INSANE to get the #30 kicker/#1 punter.

Look, RU needs to improve special teams big time..looks like with recent round of QBs leaving and probably a few more, there is no reason not to offer at least one Ship to a kicker or punter.

Here's what I will argue-let me play devils advocate. Rutgers can offer anyone-doesn't mean Day will commit (maybe he will). As the #1 punter and a top kicker he's likely to get bigger offers. He knows nothing about RU and he has to commit to a school fairly far away.

In Davidowicz (ranked a better kicker) you have a guy that 1)seems/ed he wanted to go to Rutgers and 2) given his familys "wealth" seemed to be a fit for Rutgers as his other offers so far aren't either feasible or logical (Army). Maybe Ash is banking on the later.
Maybe Ash is also using the Day offer to force Davidowicz' hand. I was trying to get word out of the offer (in case he didn't know) today but didn't see any Bridgewater HS students. I'm very interested in Davidowicz' reaction.

Theoretically there's room for both. I just hope Ash didn't shoot himself in the food. As they say "A bird in hand" and "beggars can't be choosy".

What happened to him? He hit bombs in his recruiting video. He was hitting 50+ yarders. I'm surprised he wasn't any better than Bonagora?

My gut given my experience, is that kicking is a large part mental. Its probably one thing to punt in a high school game another in a college game with a porous "line" defending you and a 300 pound 5-star roid rage Oho State Linebacker running at you!

Also these guys are human they have team pressures, academic pressures and girl pressures. I could swear my RU kicking "buddies": were worse their senior year than junior.

he doesnt know nothing about rutgers...you have no idea what you're talking about obviously. this kid has offers from multiple schools including army and navy and wouldnt consider us without a scholarship. davidowicz best is from maine. if he doesnt want to spend 4 years in maine, he'll come here. pretty simple.

seriously how can people not be happy with us offering the army AA punter. are our posters just that...dense? your argument that we should offer a lesser prospect because hes more likely to not get better offers is probably the dumbest thing ive read on these forums.....today anyway.

He offered the better kid. You don't offer a kid to just be a KO guy.

I hope we get Davidowicz to compete to do KOs but he has no film punting and he doesn't have the scholarship leg for FGs.

It seemed like he had a big leg. I'm surprised he wasn't at least doing kickoffs.
