Sooooooo what happens if the new coach picks Laviano as starter?

entirely plausible scenario. Rettig stays, they hold a competiton and Laviano starts. Do the pitchforks and and torches come out? I wonder how this board would react?

Only if he throws for 33 yards in a game, and he goes 5 games without throwing a TD.

Rettig simply is not the great QB people have made him out to be in their minds. No touch, poor accuracy, trouble reading D's. In a sense he's Dodd 2.0. He's the back up who people dream can turn the game around if you just put him in but then when you actually switch starters you will see why he was on the bench the whole time.
How do you know that? You may be right, but we have only seen him play against Norfolk and in some mop up time. No one will know for sure unless he gets a shot. Laviano did not do enough to warrant nailing his butt to the bench.

That is your opinion, but not based on facts.
Kind of hard to discuss the situation without voicing one's opinion. What few facts we have are subject to interpretation which once again places them in the realm of opinion.

So other than stating the obvious, what's your point?

Another factor will be the fact that the new coach will be well aware of Laviano's post game Instagram post. That will put him at a disadvantage from the start.
If the next coach gives any consideration to the Instagram post when choosing the starting QB for next season, then we have bigger problems than who starts at QB.

No one would care if we played well and looked in sync.
We'd all deduce Laviano was the recipient of better coaching and a better scheme…all would be wonderful, if we played well.
Notice my premium was not on winning, it was getting coached up and playing well…1st things first

Laviano is a tough kid and he wants to win, but he's not what I would call a P5 starter.

He would be a better fit at Stony Brook or Monmouth.

It has recently been proven that ex-Rutgers QBs don't even start at Monmouth..I think Bimonte and Ray combined have thrown one pass for them..

Laviano was freaking awesome against Maryland. You'd all be incredibly lucky to have him around next year. If you guys end up running both Savage and Laviano out of town, it will be an absolute shame.

The fans did not run Savage out of town. Please remind me how well CL did against Wisconsin, UM, OSU, Nebraska, PSU and Army. Army only 105 yards passing. Please.

This guy made a very similar post a week or so ago, and did not respond when challenged to back up his statement. I doubt he'll respond here either as there is really is no actual evidence to back up his claim.

Yeah, it says he's a fighter. In any event, I don't really care if the QB is a total douche-bag as long as he helps the team win games. The coaching staff is not running a class on manners or character development. They are trying to win football games.

And then they'd boo Laviano as he took the field

I'll be damned. I got it right.
