We’re watching the “coming of age” of 5 key players — 4 sophs and one frosh — who will lead us to many victories going forward.

We’ve already seen glimpses:
- Harper and McConnell knocking down one FT after another in crunch time to close out games.
- Myles coming up with big blocks and boards to keep us close against top teams.
- Mathis keeping us in games early with key buckets when we were otherwise getting beat.
- Paul, on the road against the #9 team, in a hostile environment, with the crowd chanting “air ball,” calmly knocks down a shot from deep, takes another ball to the rim for a finish, and has two sweet passes for would-be assists.

It’s not always pretty, and the results are frustrating because we’re so close in these road losses, but the growing pains are preparing us for great winning moments as this team matures.

Wait till next year, this fan base will expect 20 point blowouts and an undefeated season. Rutgers fans are the best fans and the worst fans in America.

It's NJ/NY. Seton Hall fans are the same way.

After making the NCAA tournament this year, bigger expectations will be warranted. Not 20-point blowouts and undefeated season, but I can see Top 20 all year and a deeper run in the tournament.

This is my hope. I keep reminding myself that we're a pretty young team and that experience may be the difference. Still need a little more talent... especially up front.

I’m thinking next year we can get enough from Riebers to replace what we lose from Shaq graduating. Tougher to replace what we got from Kwasi this year, so we have to hope a combination of Palmquist and Mag will help with that.

Otherwise continued improvement from our 4 sophs and Paul, plus hopefully the re-emergence of Geo and JY will make us a top 20-25 team all year. If we land Cliff then top 20 or better.

I just wonder how ready the newcomers will be.
