THE OFFICIAL 2024-2025 NET RANKINGS THREAD

LOL.... say's the guy who now finally admits he NEVER adds ANYTHING to the conversation that isn't HIS OWN bitching about other posters.
So says a resident BS expert that knows little and contributes NOTHING to RU's status or well-being. As for myself, I actually contribute monetarily and in many other ways thar you'd never match. So go f yourself -- noone else would.

Having nothing to do with RU's chances for the NCAA (the only path is to win the NCAA tourney), but for fun wanted to point out that a 16-10 UNC is 1-10 vs Quad 1 NET teams, while RU is 4-11 ... just saying ... (I guess lost opportunity for RU, and its lack of consistency and development ... 2 Quad 3 losses, plus though obviously the talent to win some games against quality teams were unable to develop enough to consistently do so).

And UNC is somewhere in the last 8 out right now

Derkack's DRating at Merrimack was 91.3 across two years, and 108.8 at Rutgers. He was the NEC defensive player of the year last year as well as the NEC leading scorer. Can't necessarily trust advanced stats from lower conferences, either.
Defensive stats are so weird. Its amazing how most of a team end up similarly. You don't see a top 5 defensive team with four starters at around 90 and one terrible defender at 105. They are usually all bunched together.

Because it's basically impossible to get true individual defensive stats, since it's a team game and help defense is so important.

I’m actually going to retract a little here (sort of) and add the additional condition that we should not recruit another kid from the portal (or high school for that matter) with limited experience playing man to man D (D efficiency not withstanding). GG was another one who had no idea how to play man when he arrived at RU. Starting at ground zero learning collegiate man to man is not a good idea either for Pike’s system.

Yes and no. I think Jordan was legitimately a good defender last season in the zone system he played in. Good anticipator. Had a lot of steals, etc. He is clueless in our system.

This makes perfect sense to me because I live in the world of elementary age AAU boys basketball where it’s understood zone wins you games but teaching man to man is important for development. I watch my boys teams mix it up and let double digit leads slip away routinely in those man to man minutes because the concept of help in man takes time to grasp. Zone is easier. Your responsible for your space and the shifts are more robotic to teach because it’s based on where the ball goes.

and now you know what I donate to Rutgers and have over the last 50 years..or the proposal sitting on Sean Tucker's desk since the middle of January. OK. You got me.

I've been surprised how he struggles on close outs in particular. It's really hurt us a number of times. He's not the only one - but I expected more.

Why does Duke have a higher NET ranking than Auburn.
Auburn has 15 Quad 1 wins and Duke only 6. Neither team has any Quad 2,3, or 4 losses.
They both have the same record at 27-3.
