A great thing about sports is redemption . Flood has that chance Saturday.
A win and he will be the toast of the town . The email will be forgotten about mostly . Even a close loss will be like a win for flood , since his track record has been unsatisfactory . However , a blowout loss will give just more fuel to the flood haters fire .

I am not a flood guy but I am not going to trash the guy if we lose to the #1 team in the nation.

You will be surprised how many scum balls will kick the cane our from an old lady. Politi comes to mind!

While I'd love for Rutgers to win this upcoming game more than anything, how we lose could also matter.
Get blown out by OSU again similar to last year, and the team's performance versus MSU earlier this month begins to seem like a post-bye week, half-asleep opponent, blackout aberration. Keep the game competitive and respectable (within 2, maybe even 3 scores) and that would say something about the steadily improving nature of the team this season.
There's a lot more football left to play this season before any ironclad conclusions are reached about HC Flood, though.

the investigation is not specifically about flood--its about the whole program, top to bottom--Julie starts at the top and quite frankly stuff that was put in place prior to her or flood

Even if they beat us by 21 like Vegas expects, I hope we make it close for 3 quarters and they erupt in the 4th. Us being down big early and playing catch up the whole game isn't a good look.

Really don't care about the score. I want to be aggressive all game and never give up even if we are down by say three touchdowns in the second quarter.

Yeh, but Flood is the CEO of the program. CEO's get the recognition (i.e. money) when things go well and CEO's catch the heat when they don't.

Play to win. We may, or may not, score more points than them, but as long as we out-compete them, I'll be happy.

Why is this game on ABC national TV anyway ? To give O SU exposure ? They don't need it. Givng 21pts. Doesn't make it appealing to the average national fan. Guess they just want the exposure in the NYC market. But if we even lose by 14 or less, it's a win for us.

Yup. I don't want our play or coaching to suggest we are afraid or intimidated. They are not ranked #1 right now based on what they have done this season, but because they started #1 based on how they finished last season. I'm not suggesting we grease the goal posts before kickoff, but don't play just to keep it respectable.

No the investigation is about him letting kids have multiple failed drug tests without punishment

nope --cause if that's true julie's gone too--the AD gets drug testing reports

Yes "or not". Agree 100%. But if true say goodbye. Very simple.
I don't think Flood's job is contingent on going 6-6. But the results of this investigation will determine his future. He stays if the stories are false, gone if true.

With all this scrutiny I don't know why anyone would want to be a head coach. I wish coach Flood and the football program the best of luck this weekend.

Aren't you the same guy who pisses on him every chance you get? Are you just setting yourself up here?

What's different about this game? It's basically the same thing every week. Last week when the team was getting wiped out in the third quarter there was plenty of "someone needs to be fired" sentiment. It's the way things are now. I wish the team the best but I don't see much of a chance for this game being close at the end. There's more of a chance of a blowout...especially with some of the key players who are banged up. Being on national tv ..on a big stage cuts two ways. If the team performs better than expected ..it's helpful. If its an early lopsided game in OSU's favor...it's not helping anything. I hope things go well, i'm not very optimistic.

not optimistic at all--those acting like this is do or die for flood are in the hoping/wishing mode stage--no one's firing him if we get blown out --to the contrary this is a no lose situation for him

Do the Flood supporters think Flood bears any responsibility for anything?

Oh right- beating Indiana- credit- beating a professor with emails...must have been Julie/Barchi/Schiano/Politi/ESPN

I'm just hoping the team is competitive all game long. Ohio State has the advantage of seeing us play a close game against Michigan State. I doubt they'll underestimate RU.

The big key is whether Carroo will be healthy enough to do what he normally does. He's a weapon against anyone if he can play at a decent level. Imagine if he plays and gets another 3 TDs on a national broadcast? He could boost his NFL draft stock to top 10 levels.

Sorry if Carroo does not play can't see us scoring many points.

I'm sorry but I just can't by into this losers mentality. There are no moral victories. I don't care who the opponent is.

Everyone knows that Julie is not responsible for anything bad that happens in the Athletic Department.

Her hands are tied, you know. lol

We usually don't defend the Spread offense well, Indiana put up 52 in 3 quarters, although the 4th quarter was better. One strange thing was Indiana often ran up the middle on 3rd or 4th and short with poor results, doing RU a favor. I doubt Meyer makes that mistake.

Failed drug tests for what?

Weed?

lol ur pushing an agenda
Pushing an agenda? If you seriously think after his stupid email episode that ignoring failed drug test is a minor problem you are a complete fool. And if you are OK with actions like that than you should become a Florida State fan because that bullship isn't going to fly in NJ or at Rutgers.

Your right on GS.

Although the off the field stuff would be swept under a rug if we win, I don't think you can redeem yourself for those types of infractions by winning games.

Redemption in that regard would need to come via a long stretch of no controversy, high grades, high graduation rate, and good deeds off the field.

Beating OSU would be more along the lines of redemption for the Kent State and Va Tech losses.

Really - it comes down to the next four games. We need to play well in two of them for me to have confidence that we arent just a somewhat bad teams feasting on somewhat worse teams. Obviously winning one or more would be ideal, but if we get four blowouts again, we really need to start thinking about where this program is going.

If, say, a number one Oregon were playing an unranked Washington at 8PM on ABC.. would you watch? Would you have it on one of your flip channels?

The number one team will always have people tuning in to judge for themselves.
