This has to be Eddie's last year

BAC......I never agree with anyone who's only goal is to be negative. People on the Football boards know it and know your MO. Unless, it comes to the love of your life.....Julie Hermann.

The guy I wanted was Steve Masielo from the Pitino tree. There are probably threads in the history that show it. I will support the coach in place and use a little common sense about the state of the program.

lmao...oh the one who lied on his resume that he graduated college....hahahahaha its a good thing we avoided that scandal happening here before Julie and he would have slithered back to Manhattan just as he did when USF found out and RU would have had more egg on their face and hired Eddie anyway

IMO. Dave Cox should have been named interim coach that year as the healer since the players felt comfortable with him because afterall wasn't this supposed to be about the players...of course the hypocrites at ESPN could care one dump about the players. Then Julie could have got a chance to hire someone after Cox or who knows maybe they responded to Cox that year and he got a short term 3 year deal

Because THREE years ago we were toxic. I know Danny would have us further along and earn more time. Sadly that's not the case with Eddie.

Rutgers had no leverage to hire someone on the cheap with short contract and no promise of facilities.

Hurley had every right to hold us over a barrel. I agree it was a shit show but short term over long term. Hurley was a long play. Eddie was PR/cost savings play.

Outside of Hurley who can recruit and teach defense and toughness I don't think another coach would succeed. Don't think Lonergan was interested.

So yes maybe Jordan was only option without AD. But three years and we are no closer than year 1.

Now is time to see what else is out there.

"Eddie was PR/cost savings play."
This is just about absolutely true in my mind.
But I thought hiring Eddie on a coaching standpoint was a good move and wasn't completely sold on giving Danny as many years as he wanted.
Now I'm not so sure about hiring Eddie was a good one from a coaching standpoint and RU messed up the PR part when it was found out he didn't have his degree.
I'll cut Eddie some slack and give him next season , but can't defend him to others like I was doing.

But if Danny Hurley was hired, maybe his Bob Hurley Sr would start talking up RU MBB and try to help his son succeed at RU.
That might have been a bonus where recruiting is concerned.

I still hope Eddie can turn this around but if not maybe we should offer the GW coach. He has averaged over 20 wins a season for 22 years of coaching. He has a 100% graduation rate. He was really into the game and has a very excellent bench. He has 6 All stars from the Wash DC area and I believe 6 from other countries. The team passed outstanding and has very good shooters. Everyone on the team could really play.

The last time we hired a coach away from a DC school, he averaged 20 wins a year here for 12 years. And was still recruiting well (by our standards) in the area several years later. As good an idea as anyone else has, unless you want to get one of the Hurleys for however long they want. Bobby's Sun Devils made UNLV look stupid in the second half the other night. (Admittedly not the toughest task in Division I, but it was on the road.)
