Those who think it takes 7 years to turn around a program

UALR hired Chris Beard after going 13-18.

He signed a bunch of players in the spring, went 29-4, beat Purdue, who squeaked by us by 50.

Never expect that kind of turnaround and this is a crazy case. But a good coach can change things fast

Different conference, and different situation, so no real comparison to Rutgers, but I do agree, a coach who can coach and recuit, shouldn't take 7 years.

Rutgers is not winning 29 games next year, but anything around .500 would be considered a very successful season. But with a new coach and not really knowing what our roster is going to look like, there are just so many unknowns at this point.

They beat Purdue. We lost by 50.

In no way trying to make the case that turnarounds like that are that easy or common. But thinking nothing can change over 3-4 years is nonsense.

You ask any Little Rock fan going into this season, they probably would have said the same thing.

UALR isn't winning 29 games....look where they are now.

It's very possible to turn around a program in one or two years. You just need the right person.

Baylor had a player murder another player while the coach was up to all types of really shady junk...then lost schollies & other penalties, probation...couldn't even play their OOC sched one year.

In the dance 5 years later after hiring Scott Drew.

Just hire a good coach for f-ing once.

the problem is acceptance of losing, we need a cultural shift from the top to the bottom..much like with Schiano...losing is accepted from the administration to the coaches to the players to the fans. There seems to be no standard set of minimal performance or goals. From coach to coach to coach to ad to ad

Things may be different now with Hobbs but we will not know until we see tangible progress. Progress isnt a couple of freshmen making layups. I cringed when I saw some of our fans setting the bar so low that a few baskets means we are going to be good

We've already seen something similar to that happen at RU going from Littlepage to Wenzel. Only problem was that Wenzel couldn't sustain the initial success. It's happened here once before, it can happen again. Not saying that it will, just saying that it could.

Wouldn't being around .500 next year be a big change? I agree, it shouldn't take 4 years to see some change.

The seven year crutch has always been bs in my book. The right coach can make considerable progress much more quickly.

ARK-LR must have some stellar facilities to sport a record like that.
