Rutgers fouls with 3 seconds remaining and then Stringer gets technical foul.

I had turned the sound off, why did PSU get about 5 foul shots at end?

Making it close ... RU is going for the offensive foul record ... hope PSU chokes the game away cause the refs will do their best.
Never a doubt ... nice comeback to make it close ... now that they are not Top 25 maybe they’ll start winning again.

Why not foul before she got the shot up? We only had two team fouls.

Brutal way to end the game. No reason it should have been that close, though. Can't ever let a game be within a possession, because the refs in women's basketball are so bad it becomes a coin flip.

I had to come on here because I was just watching the live stats on my phone. Wow! I was wondering what the heck was going on? We're up 1 with 36 seconds and then the next thing I see is we foul them with 1 second left in the game? Was the foul justified or was it a dum@##$%#$% official not letting the game be won or lost by the players? I understand C. Viv got a technical, but was that because she was so pissed off at the timing of that foul against Nigia Greene?

To those who watched the game: what the hell were we doing for three periods? Sleepwalking? I saw that Tyler had 2 points through 3 periods. WT!@#$#!? How is that possible?

Rutgers gave away 6 points on offensive fouls on made baskets.Scaife had only 10 points. This was a bad loss to a mediocre team because Rutgers had 19 turnovers.
Did you watch the game? Were all of those calls justified?

I am obviously biased but the foul on the last 3 looked very soft. The officiating was typically poor most of the game. We must have been called for 6 offensive fouls at least 3 of which waved off made baskets. The press was effective but none of the officials was willing to count to 5 seconds on inbounds plays.

Certainly not a great game by us but the comeback to go ahead should not have been negated by a weak foul call with 1 second left by an officiating crew who did a terrible job the entire game.

Thank you for that. Now I understand why C Viv. was so pissed. You DON'T call a foul with one second left in the game. You just don't. You let the kids play and have them decide the game and not at the foul line.

I agree they shouldnt be calling a foul in that situation..thats why womens basketball officiating is a running joke...however as I said before. RU can only blame themselves...dont dig a double digit hole and decide to start focusing and playing D with just 4 minutes left...also they failed to secure that rebound in that last possesion which gave PSU a chance to take the final shot...too many 2nd chances all night lone

If I was CVS I'd be on the horn to Dee K. ASAP, not that it would do any good. Tina is the shittiest ref going, and the other two were deferring to her all game, just horrible. And, someone needs to call Hobbs as well.

that is a good point, i guess you worry that the girl will try to heave it up but its a good strategy

I thought that the PSU defender flopped on several of those calls. There was also a travel call on PSU that could have been an offensive foul.

Thanks Diana. I thought so. You know my feelings regarding officiating in the women's game. The officials either anticipate and call a foul before the foul actually occurs, or they're incredibly gullible. What's your take on the foul with one second left in the game. Should it have been called or like I believe, officials at that juncture shouldn't inject their own biases with the outcome of a game on the line?

I saw a clip on BTN just now, happened fast and they didnt show the rebound...Tyler extended her arm it was very close but I couldnt say unless i saw it replayed in slow motion

I know that in the mens games of football and basketball we always have to contend with the claim that the best programs and "name" coaches get the calls.. that its always like that and its something we have to overcome along with typical "home cookin"... but then we see a HoF coach and traditionally a very very good program with Rutgers womens basketball routinely get abused with calls. And it goes beyond the calls.. what about all those NCAA seedings and being sent on road games to lower seeded opponents home floors?... So.. what is it?

Slightly different with women's basketball, imo, because the very best women's college bball referees would be no more than C or C+ referees in the men's game. They're really awful. It's so bad that I really struggle to watch women's bball games - not because of the talent or the product on the court, but because I get so infuriated by terrible calls.

In any given game, you might as well roll a die for each team, and add that to their final score. If you legitimately beat the other team by 8-10 points, even bad officiating in their favor won't save them... but if you're in a dogfight, it's random chance whether or not you come away with the win. Almost every game decided by 4 or fewer points in women's basketball could probably have gone either way depending on how bad the officiating was that night.

As brutal as the final plays in this game were, it should never have gotten to that point. PA St isn't a team that should be able to hang with us, even on their own court.

Very good point.Rutgers should have fouled as soon as the out of bound pass was made.Unused fouls were meant for instances like at the end of games to prevent the opponent from making a winning basket.
