Wrestling TRI-MEET (Minny, Purdue, Rutgers) MATCH THREAD

Dryden escapes, then takes Alvarez down to his back on the edge. Alvarez managed to avoid giving up back points.

Score is 5-3, Dryden, with just under 40 seconds left in the second period.

Period ends with Alvarez on top. Score still even at 5-5.

Alvarez will begin the third period on bottom

Jesus Christ he almost pinned himself. New rooms doing wonders, throw them back in the dungeon.

Alvarez walks away with a 10-5 decision.

Sebastian Rivera now wrestling Macros Polanco at 141-lbs

I think the question is, if Shawver won't produce much different of a result, do you crush his confidence this early in his career? I think the argument can go either way.

Certainly fair but at this rate giving up 6 at 125, we might only win 1 dual this year (Maryland) which is a very bad look for the program.

Indiana wrestled PSU really tough yesterday, albeit against a lot of backups and a forfeit but nothing is a sure thing especially with guys like Aguilar in the lineup.

Rivera takes down Polanco, and keeps him down to close out the first period.

Rivera carries a 4-1 lead into the second period. He will start on defense

How on Earth do we not have someone who can beat out Aguilar?? Injuries?
He was a ranked decent to good wrestler who was going to go to the NCAA's last year. Went back to California to train, came back and has regressed to being close to if not the worst in the B1G. Lots of theories flying around as to why, all we know for fact is he now sucks. What really hurts is he's getting money and it's obvious he doesn't care anymore.

I agree, starting a match down 4-0, 5-0, 6-0, is not doable, especially in this conference. There needs to be a change or a drastic improvement by Aguilar. I, myself, would probably go with the first one.

I wonder if Alvarez needs a RS next year. I’m not sure he’ll be best suited at 133 and 141 is probably Rivera’s. Suriano is probably going to want 133 I think if he returns.

Rivera escapes, making it 5-1. Pushes the action on Polanco, backing him out of bounds for a stall call against Polanco.

Wonder if Suriano coming back potentially has Aguilar in a mental block.

Rivera with another takedown from a seatbelt position. He now is on top 7-1 with RT in his favor

Rivera keeps Polanco down the rest of the second period, still leading 7-1.

Rivera starting the third period on top, but will choose to stand Polanco up.

Rivera's decision to stand up Polanco pays off, as he takes him down quickly into the third period. Rivera leads 9-2, with a RT point coming

Rivera cuts Polanco once again, then follows it up with another takedown. Rivera leads 11-3

Rivera gets a late set of back points to finish the match. With the RT point, Rivera wins 14-3.

Rutgers now leading, 7-6.

MVB now wrestling Michael Blockhaus, where Van Brill scores an early takedown.

That was brilliant by Rivera. Up 8 holding a major, gave up the escape, earned a take down and went for the pin. Knowing if he messed up the pinning combo and conceded an escape he’d still earn the major. That’s incredible awareness

Back points off the Van Brill takedown give him a 4-0 lead. Blockhus escapes to make it 4-1

Period ends on the feet, with Van Brill still leading 4-1.

MVB going on bottom to start the third period.

He let him hang on the ankle for over 20 secs before calling stalling.

Im still incredibly pissed the refs stole the match from MVB against Parriott. That was horrendous officiating and he has been wrestling so well. Feel terrible for him.
Imagine the boos that wouldve came down from the RAC in both his match and Kannaird's matches in a normal RAC setting with fans.

Keep smoking the doubies. It’s working wonders. Time for Goodale to move on.

Epitome of a kid not committed to the program or training. Has gained a muscle in 3 years. Wonder why
Took a page out of Stephan "I took advantage of every opportunity a coach could give me" Glasgow's book. I know people on here think I'm against good Goodale. That could be nothing further than the truth. I think he's a great man and a great coach, and he always gives his wrestlers to benefit of the doubt. On this one though he has to can Aguilar. Maybe get him a job selling CBD oils.
