What really happen on the infamous week of the USF game

I hate to disagree with Zap, but I'm gonna do it anyway.

Win, lose or draw, we fell short of the money to get rid of Flood. Winning the game had nothing to do with keeping him - had Julie been able to put the money together, he was gone regardless.

That was a total shit show of a week.

Money was definitely the main issue. I'm glad that is changing.

I would still like to know what JH knew and what she presented to the donors and Barchi that week, and their response.

You guys realize this IS NOT exactly new "news," right? That this is EXACTLY what has been told here, by many, for 3 years now, right?
The problem is there are so many "in the know" posters just spewing random BS, that it's hard to believe the guys who actually know what they're talking about.

I have a newfound respect for Julie if she really tried to get petrino in here in 2013. If she was allowed to make that hire there would be no message board bickering today. Many of us would be looking forward to our trip to the rose bowl or another bowl game on January 2.
It's so unreal how barchi and the BOG just didn't get it.

Hey.. I am not sure Louisville under Petrino has not done WORSE than what Flood did.

We know they worked to get Wake Forest's gameplan.. WAKE FOREST. And we know on the basketball side HoF slimy Pitino had to know about the HOOKERS doing his recruits. Do you really think football recruits were choir boys when this was going on for basketball recruits? I have no idea if there were any violations there.. but I'd sure have a good look if I were the NCAA.

Some of us have never lied to this board or purposely spewed misinformation. It's a shame others feel the need to do so.

Yup, I was one of those castigated on this board for rooting for USF to win that game. If it weren't for Dodd's moxy and Sanu's clutch catching, we would have... What could have been... with 2 less Floodless years...

Shocked no one else corrected this. Flood would never let Dodd see real light of day (one of his major flaws as with that senior laden great D first team Dodd would have had it in the BCS). This was GS era.

2011 was the Dodd Sanu game.

However, in 2013 Dodd started to see time in the cinci game. Nova started the next game, UCF, but was pulled again. After that, Dodd started the last 3 games of the season, including the pinstripe bowl against ND.

2012 was the year Nova wasn't pulled, despite throwing 6 picks in the Kent State game. We were 7-0 going into that game and ranked pretty high (around 15), but after that game Nova became ineffective. We went 2-3 to end the season, including the Louisville game and the VT bowl game, in which Nova could do nothing...Nova had a decent season up until the Kent state game, with a bunch of Tds and only 3 interceptions, with a 400 yard performance against Arkansas. He finished the season though with 22 tds and 16 ints...

She tried Petrino. Then Mullen. Then tom Herman. All her calls. Also liked a few others who are having success as HC now. One is the best remaining coachin in the AAC. And it's not row the boat Fleck.

Side note - I have no idea if tressel was ever legit option but I would have loved that. But Petrino in Nj. Oh man. They would have been a disaster! But entertaining while it lasted!!!.

IIRC - from what I heard in multiple places - there was one big $$$ donor who was a big Flood fan and refused to believe he was involved in any misdoings, at the time, or that the program was headed in the wrong direction. Anyway his "voice" was enough to influence a few others not to throw their money into the pot.

Wow. I never heard that. What a shame.

The vast majority of the de-commits that year had either a) already occurred or b) were going to occur anyway.

Yes, but going forward knowing that the AD wanted him fired did not help him.

You really think we could have afforded him, even with his issues?

Even if by some miracle we could afford him, he would have been gone for richer pastures the first chance he got

I view this as the ultimate in know your limitations
