What are the terms of Flood's current contract? Didn't JH state that KF contract extension was funded by private donors? In essence, isn't KF costing NJ nothing for his salary beyond this year? Only reply if you know definitively.

The seats and seat donations and parking tags that will not go unsold if he is replaced by a proven coach with credentials, notable among his peers, a history of success, program building, and increased responsibility, and stature beyond NJ and NY and DE.

Jules got donors to commit to funding the increase in the buy out. So if he is fired without cause he'll get $1.4. $700k of which donors will pay. I believe the regular pay in his extension is all on RU.

If he and staff are paid whole amount we are looking at about 4.1 in buyouts

Flood is owed 1.4M so that would leave 2.7M for the assistants. I thought that sounded high since I was reading the LSU assistants would be owed 2M so as I do I took a quick look to see if I could find out. Actually it's more for the assistants. Worst case it would cost 3.3M for them and then 1.4M for Flood bringing the total to 4.7M.

2 assumptions though, Browning's contract was up Jun 2015 so I assumed a renewed 2 year contract at the same salary and Galiano's contract length couldn't be found so assumed 15 months left at his 300K salary.

A couple points though, because I don't see that worst case scenario playing out in this respect. This takes into account firing of Flood without cause. Doing just a quick skim of pertinent parts of the each coach's contract only Flood and Fraser are entitled to any offsets to bring their salary back up to RU levels should their next job pay them less. From what I could tell every other coach upon new employment isn't owed anything from RU regardless of whether their salary is less, same or more. You'd think most of these coaches will want to continue their careers and in doing so RU comes off the hook for any salary owed to them.

With regards to the contract lengths other than Flood's most of them run til Feb/Jun 2017 and a few til Jun 2016. So say most get a job in the off season conservatively you'd could take off at least 1/2 (assuming they get a job by June 2016) of that 3M owed to assistants for at least a savings of 1.5M off that worse case scenario and possibly more.

The other thing is that none of this comes in a lump sum form, which I think a lot of us tend to forget whether it's Miles 15M buyout or Rhoads 4.5M or whomever. I think most of the time it's paid on the universities regular pay schedule for the length of the contract. So for Flood that 1.4M is paid biweekly out til 2019. Same for the assistants out to the length of their contracts if they don't find employment. So while we need to account for the funds, it's not necessarily all at once.

Btw 400K for each coordinator isn't too bad. Nothing great by any means but for fairly young inexperienced guys without much history, I'd say not bad. Frost only got bumped up to the 450K vicinity recently, Meacham makes 350K and Aranda only just got bumped to 500K. Even taking into account COLA, still not bad.

Here's my breakdown under worst case scenario of firing Flood without cause and assuming no one gets a new job. Remember as I said above doing a quick skim of the contracts only Flood/Fraser are entitled to any offsets everyone else upon new employment isn't owed anything from RU. If anyone wants they can double check my interpretations but that was my understanding.

Flood 1.4M buyout (entitled to offsets)

Browning (assumption) 200K salary 18 mos left 300K owed

Campanile 200K salary 15 mos left 250K owed

Fraser 300K salary 7 mos left 150K owed (entitled to offsets)

McDaniels 400K salary 15 mos left 500K owed

Panagos 250K thru 6/16 and 300K thru 6/17 salary 18 mos left 425K owed

Rossi 400K salary 15 mos left 500K owed

D. Wilson 260K salary 18 mos left 390K owed

N. Wilson 275K salary 15 mos left 350K owed

Galiano (assumption) 300K salary 15 mos left 375K owed

J. Cole (assumption) 127K salary 6 mos left 65K owed

One other potential saving might be that if a new coach is hired he may keep some of the assistants on board in which case their is no damage. Also one good point is that any contractual payments due would appear to be made over the period of time of the contact and not at one time.....unless of course there might be a renegotiated payout arrangement by both parties.

There are some very good coaches on the staff that a new head coach may want to retain. Galiano makes more than Norries...wow!

These guys are thieves.

They should be paying the state of NJ back for robbing the fans every year. Looking at that list of salaries makes me sick when I think about what we've gotten from them in return.

I had the exact same reaction. Made me sick to my stomach. These assistants with no proof of prior success get paid hundreds of thousands per year for failure. Man, time to go back and become a football coach.

To add to this that schedule pretty much goes from July - February
March - June it slows down to like 80 Hours a week.

Towers will pay for Elmer Fudd. The staff will be paid for by Rutgers.

I'm sorry but what do the amount of hours worked have to do with anything in regard to quality? Unless you're saying Flood's madness stems from severe sleep depravation.
