Why are there so many "why was some thread deleted" threads?

It's not that threads get moved or deleted. Its there is zero consistency or rationale that gets people going.

Messageboard best practices - lock any thread for any reason, but the admin is required to write a final post in the thread explaining their decision. This provides accountability, so the community knows who locked the thread and why. Only delete in extremely rare circumstances such as kiddie porn posts, etc.

If a thread about a hot topic is deleted, it will keep popping up when some missed the original and others wonder where it went.
