How about a coach's visit to Russia, Georgia, Turkey, etc. to bring back some foreign student athletes? Mens' Basketball Rosters are loaded with them.$$$$
Wrestling is more visible in country's like those and their wrestlers are more well known and popular in comparison to the U.S. At least I think so anyway. Might be hard to pry them away from a place where they are taken care of financially and considered heros by their countrymen to come here.

Folks are asking who Suriano works with. Today it was DeLucs and they went at it. Richie Lewis is going to Minnesota this weekend with Alex Mackall for the U-23 freestyle championships. Lewis is going at 70 kilos or 154 and he is in great shape. He will have to get past Mayes of Missouri and Berger of Nebraska. Donny and Montel will coach him. An interesting wrestler in the room working out with Mulligan was Gregg Zannetti. He looked big and great. Comes down Tuesdays as he helps with the Catholic program at RU. Why? He is 3 years into the seminary at Seton Hall readying for the priesthood. He was as excited to see me as I was to see him. What a wonderful young man. I asked him if God could get him some more eligibility!

Your insight into this program is unmatched. It makes me enjoy following this sport and team much more than others. Hearing backstories, stories after they have graduated...it's all tremendous. Thank you for your contributions.

His brothers run that. Luck, glad you enjoy that. I am writing a column and newsletter for RU Wrestling this year for all SKWC members and Pin Pool members that will include what is going on in the program, personal interest stories, comments from the coaches, upcoming match stories, etc. so everyone either join the pin pool or SKWC to get the inside stories.

Speaking of good guys in wrestling, I saw this video and I thought it was well worth sharing it. Although it doesn't involve a Rutgers athlete, it is a heartwarming example of how wrestlers can effect fans....

That's gotta be more fun for Suriano than going with Zain Retherford. [winking] What's the plan for Mackall? Stay at 125 and have Suriano move up next year? Or does he become a depth guy?

I was looking at the official Rutgers roster and Marc McDonald is apparently the only guy in the country wrestling at the 215 weight class. Forfeits all the way to the top!

Matter
Mackall will stay at 125 this year for depth. Next year who knows. Matt Mac will try to challenge at 197. He would be a great 215 pounder. Suriano goes with everyone. Next day could be Scott D

So I am to assume you have checked every other roster of D1 teams to know this (McDonald)? I actually do check every D1 roster for wrestlestat.com and you would be surprised at what I see. Trust me Rutgers roster is not the only one with a small error.

A) You don't hold Rutgers to a higher standard as a team that wants to be a top 10 program?

B) Red herring. Does any other school have a 215 pound weight class listed on their roster?

C) I was just kidding. You didn't see any humor in it?

Suriano working with John DiJulius today for those interested so that is not too bad, eh?

I'm not being snarky, but what is the fascination with DiJulius? The guy never even placed at the NCAAs in his career. Not once. He finished 7, 6, 4 and 7 at Big Tens. Why is it considered a big deal that Suriano is working out with him?

I'm not being snarky but what is the point of this post? You're unimpressed with DiJulius and you can't help but tell everyone?

please don't actually respond to this post. the questions were rhetorical and NOT an invitation to reiterate why you aren't impressed by DiJulius.

Between the snide comments about the RAC nosie and Suriano's workout partner, the troll is looking for another , longer 'time out' or maybe total ban like the quick trigger guy at his home site's wrestling board.

Why would he post 3 troll like comments here today , yet none at all on his home PenSt site?

Full moon does it every time. $$$$

Our kids are working very hard and intensely in practice and can’t wait to get ahold of Maryland. Should be interesting.

You said working with DeLuca was not like working with Retherford. I am just reporting who he worked with. Not saying he is an NCAA champ but he is better than working with Lipari.

That much is true.

I said it had to more fun than working with Retherford. Judging by what Zain does to opponents in matches, it's got to be murder going with him in the room.

I wasn't really directing the comment to your report, I understand you are just saying what happened. But when it was announced the DiJulius was coming to the SKWC, people (not you) said stuff like "fantastic addition" which I just don't get. He's sort of R12 level at best. That's not chopped liver, obviously, but it's not elite, either.

I don't think Maryland is going to offer much resistance to Rutgers, btw. The SK's are a much better team.

I meant no disrespect to Peter Lipari who I think is a wonderful young man and apologize if it came off that way. I just picked out the name of a backup. Again sorry.

Mr. Lipari
I happen to have a great relationship with Peter and talk to him every time I am at practice. I admire him for his tenacity and commitment to the program and I was in no way trying to demean his skill level or what he has achieved at RU. He is a terrific young man and it may have been the dumbest thing I ever said to reply to a comment about our workout partners for Suriano. I asked the coaches to point you out to me at an upcoming match so I can apologize to you in person as I meant no disrespect to Peter making a dumb comment. If you wish I am matside seat 36 so feel free to come down and kick me in the ass as I deserved it. I will be at Yankee Stadium so feel free to throw me over the railing or I will be at the NE Duals at Albany on Nov 11 so punch me in the mouth wherever I am and it is so warranted.

Bill,
Do you want to get away?

Anyone know what time Lewis and Mackall's matches are today?
