Largest RU Crowd Ever for a Rutgers Basketball Game?

Who cares, RU needs the spotlight, not playing on BTN or FS1.....FOX and CBS are recruiting wins for a program and fans still thinking small time with complaints about MSG.....this will legitimately be the 1st time someone in the tristate area has ever seen RU play on TV.....it will 100% be the 1st time for the entire nation since the 1980s???
You don't give up B1G home games from The RAC to play somewhere else

Rutgers needs to find an OOC opponent to play at MSG

Rutgers ' spplications rise over 90%

Something is off here. 78K applications must be a "so far" number, since RU claimed 244K applications for 2024:

Looked a little closer, must be the 244K for last year is all campuses(and probably includes transfers) and the 78K for this year is NB only and likely just for regular First year applications.

Looks like from the Courtney twitter account that last year NB applications were 76,461 and this year are >78,000 so a bit of an increase but not huge. BUT when Courtney posted in late Jan 2024 with applications at that point it was listed as 68,500, so maybe the rest are transfer application received in the spring. So the apples to apples comparison is an increase of >10,000 application. So for this year we may end up with something like 86,000 total.

15 Years Ago Today in Rutgers Football History

Rutgers defeated Central Florida 45-24 at Tropicana Field in the 2nd St. Petersburg Bowl Presented by Beef ‘O’Brady’s held at Tropicana Field. In the December 19, 2009 game, Central Florida had narrowed Rutgers lead to 38-24 and attempted on onside kick. The ball deflected off the hands of one Rutgers player right to Damaso Munoz who returned it 35 yards for an eventual final score of 45-24. According to the ESPN.com boxscore of the game, 2:23 remained in the fourth quarter when the ball was initially touched and 2:16 remained when Munoz somersaulted into the end zone – using only seven seconds of game clock to do it.

Recruiting

Not sure how I feel about the timing of it. He obviously has to go to a dual but the crowd has to be into it. Need to start the dual off at 125 and sneak a couple wins in before it takes the crowd out. Wish it lined up with a more competitive dual.
Not sure if anyone else noticed, but, Bo Bassett and his family were sitting a few rows behind the Ohio State bench when RU wrestled at Ohio State. I assume he was taking an official visit there. While RU didn't win the match, he saw our passionate coaching staff, RU wrestlers competing with higher ranked guys, and RU team members cheering for one another. Personally, I thought RU's effort at OSU only helped out in an effort to recruit him.

Exactly. Nobody else gives away conference home games. Well PSU does but they go to smaller arenas. Cant believe Nova wouldn’t do a home and home at West Fargo and MSG.
actually we are better off doing a home and home with Nova at the pavillion and rac...nova scheduled uconn at the pavillion for the first time in years and won

Like it said in the article, the first choice was Syracuse OOC. Just like we tried to play Arkansas at the Pru. Gotta open up that rolodex a bit more before hitting a conference name though.

Rutgers Football History 105 Years Ago Today, Babe Ruth Sold to the Yankees

The New Brunswick Daily Home News sports editor Harold E. O’Neill remembered that when he watched Rutgers defeat Boston College 13-7 at Fenway Park on November 13, 1919, “…Our business in the City of Culture took us to the Boston Red Sox ball park one golden autumn afternoon to watch the Rutgers-Boston College football battle. Ruth had made his last home run a month or so previously, but they had not forgotten him, even in the football atmosphere. We had no sooner made our entrance into the baseball theatre when five or six groundskeepers and as many attendants located us. For half an hour or more while the football populace was finding seats, we were told of Ruth’s deeds and showed where his home runs had cleared the fence. Just before game time we broke away and climbed to the press box on the top of the grand stand, and immediately became mingled with telegraph operators and newspapermen, also talking about Babe Ruth who at that time was playing baseball on the Pacific Coast. Being a stranger in the surroundings it was again pictured to the writer where the eminent Ruth had made his longest home run. It was an interesting recital the first time, but a tiresome one along about the twentieth time. That evening the Boston newspapers had a ‘running’ account of the football game. Through the detailed story there occasionally appeared the name of Ruth hitting the line for five yards or throwing passes. As there was no personage by that name in the lineup of the teams that had struggled that afternoon, it was easy to imagine that the telegraph operators could not forget the name of their favorite, who was just then some thousands of miles away,” according to the January 9, 1920 Daily Home News.
