Recruiting

Not sure how I feel about the timing of it. He obviously has to go to a dual but the crowd has to be into it. Need to start the dual off at 125 and sneak a couple wins in before it takes the crowd out. Wish it lined up with a more competitive dual.
Not sure if anyone else noticed, but, Bo Bassett and his family were sitting a few rows behind the Ohio State bench when RU wrestled at Ohio State. I assume he was taking an official visit there. While RU didn't win the match, he saw our passionate coaching staff, RU wrestlers competing with higher ranked guys, and RU team members cheering for one another. Personally, I thought RU's effort at OSU only helped out in an effort to recruit him.

Largest RU Crowd Ever for a Rutgers Basketball Game?

Exactly. Nobody else gives away conference home games. Well PSU does but they go to smaller arenas. Cant believe Nova wouldn’t do a home and home at West Fargo and MSG.
actually we are better off doing a home and home with Nova at the pavillion and rac...nova scheduled uconn at the pavillion for the first time in years and won

Largest RU Crowd Ever for a Rutgers Basketball Game?

Like it said in the article, the first choice was Syracuse OOC. Just like we tried to play Arkansas at the Pru. Gotta open up that rolodex a bit more before hitting a conference name though.

Rutgers Football History 105 Years Ago Today, Babe Ruth Sold to the Yankees

The New Brunswick Daily Home News sports editor Harold E. O’Neill remembered that when he watched Rutgers defeat Boston College 13-7 at Fenway Park on November 13, 1919, “…Our business in the City of Culture took us to the Boston Red Sox ball park one golden autumn afternoon to watch the Rutgers-Boston College football battle. Ruth had made his last home run a month or so previously, but they had not forgotten him, even in the football atmosphere. We had no sooner made our entrance into the baseball theatre when five or six groundskeepers and as many attendants located us. For half an hour or more while the football populace was finding seats, we were told of Ruth’s deeds and showed where his home runs had cleared the fence. Just before game time we broke away and climbed to the press box on the top of the grand stand, and immediately became mingled with telegraph operators and newspapermen, also talking about Babe Ruth who at that time was playing baseball on the Pacific Coast. Being a stranger in the surroundings it was again pictured to the writer where the eminent Ruth had made his longest home run. It was an interesting recital the first time, but a tiresome one along about the twentieth time. That evening the Boston newspapers had a ‘running’ account of the football game. Through the detailed story there occasionally appeared the name of Ruth hitting the line for five yards or throwing passes. As there was no personage by that name in the lineup of the teams that had struggled that afternoon, it was easy to imagine that the telegraph operators could not forget the name of their favorite, who was just then some thousands of miles away,” according to the January 9, 1920 Daily Home News.
Very nice indeed

Largest RU Crowd Ever for a Rutgers Basketball Game?

Dylan not practicing all week and still injured is deeply concerning
and you know when he had the flu he was not practicing either so really in the past 3 weeks how much practice time, just maybe a week in there he was full strength,,,his conditioning definitely a question mark at this point with all the setbacks

Ex-Rutgers staff Andrew Pierce to Temple staff

It can’t be long before KC Keeler gets his Temple team on Rutgers schedule.

Why not? They are local. Good opening weekend game. Even if we do a 2 for 1, it's an easy road trip and a team we have history with.

Is there any news of hoop players for 2025 visiting?

He’s going to get a check somewhere. He put up the stats he needed to make it happen. Remember even Dean got 6 figures. Some team is going to pay him a decent check to be their 5. I’m guessing it will be a mid-major. I’d be surprised if Pike shells out the money he’s going to demand to keep him here. He’s not a Pike style player.
Dean Reiber didn't get 6 figures, that's another bogus rumor that is nowhere near true...he's playing the same amount of minutes per game in his 2 years there, around 10 to 12 minutes off the bench with 3 to 4PPG.

In terms of Lathan staying or going, not really overly relevant unless the player wants to drop down a level or 2 to a Missouri Valley or Sun Belt conference OR he can stay and try to shoot for 11PPG and 6 to 7 Rebounds a game as a sophomore at RU. If a mid major wants that type of player it is cool. A Power 4 would mean ACC or Big East, not SEC, B1G or Big 12.

Penn State Visits Rutgers Friday Night For B1G Dual Meet

Yeah it's honestly insane. I watched them against Nebraska last week. They're so loaded. I hope we win a match or 2, but it'll be an uphill battle.

Sunday is one we need to get. They're ranked a little above us with a bunch of tossups. These are the duals we need to start winning where we've been coming up short for years now.
We unfortunately probably won't even win one match. As much as it pains me to say. They are just too good. Maybe we will keep it tight at 125 and 133. Other than that unfortunately, we're going to get crushed. There are guys in a lineup that can probably medal at the olympics right now.

OT: NJ Devils 2024-2025 Thread

Yes it is the chicken or egg debate. Mercer will ultimately be better in an offensive role on a scoring line, but you need to leave him there through the growing pains. The NJD have been impetuous, even before General Keefe.

I haven't posted about this but a huge irritant to me is playing Timo Meier on his off wing. Yes he can play LW, but not as well. In San Jose he became a star by playing RW and being on PP1, another spot the Devils don't play him in. Looking back at LY scoring spurt, we finally put him in his tradition roles and he went off. I'm a Keefe fan, but he needs to rethink his use of Timo. In closing we haven't scored 5 goals in a game for a long time. Keep these lines overall.
Mercer's most common linemate this season is Nico, to meh results. Last year his numbers with Nico were not good as well. 2 years ago they were very good.

So they were good at one time, but a pretty long stretch of not good.

His numbers with Hughes are typically good but if Keefe wants to use him in a more defensive role, then he won't be on Hughes's line.

But after last night we are going to see Meier Dowling Mercer for a stretch.

Rutgers ' spplications rise over 90%

It is all a numbers game. Colleges try to encourage as many people to apply as possible so they can say they are being more selective. If Rutgers can admit only 20000 students, then that number will be a smaller percentage if 60000 or 80000 people apply than if only 40000 apply. And Rutgers has been very aggressive in getting kids to apply for the past two years. The more people apply, the lower the percentage of admissions, assuming a fixed number of how many you can admit.

We are playing catchup in that department.
