Steve Pikiell reveals why Rutgers star Ace Bailey sat most of 2nd half in loss to Maryland

Respond to my Harper Flu Indiana reply to your question first.

Is there a specific part I didn’t reply to?

Yes, it can be. Look it up.

I did, though doing so only confirmed what I already thought. Mono is transmitted through saliva which often occurs from kissing. It is not considered a sexually transmitted disease.

The point is, it wouldn’t be contagious on a team trip but the flu would.

Ok but they let JWill travel and play while sick (and he presumably didn’t have mono) so it doesn’t seem that unlikely they would let Harper. He was probably planning to try to play the Indiana game up until game day.

And again, have you ever once heard a coach say a player had mono ?

No, not that I remember, but I barely listen to what coaches say.

EDIT: okay I looked a little further and yes mono *can* be transmitted sexually but that is not the primary way it is transmitted and it does not carry the stigma of diseases that are generally talked about as STDs

OT: Super Bowl LIX - Game Thread

You could throw Bon Jovi out there at 62 and every person in the entire stadium would be out of their seat singing to Livin on a prayer.

Then we’d be hearing where’s the diversity, why is the art form/cultural statement known as rap/hip hop omitted…

A really great Temptations/Four Tops cover band would have the entire stadium rocking 😊….real talent.
Get Stevie Wonder again!

My point is….EVERYONE would like it, EVERYONE is supposed to like it!
This Stevie Wonder?

Dylan Grant about to get PAID

How come every other school can play freshman in bball?

Lets just look at the top 5 schools in standings and frosh playing from day 1

Purdue: CJ Cox, Gicarri Harris played between 15-20 mins a night from day 1. Another frosh played about 8-10 mins a night from day 1

Michigan State: only one true frosh and he averages around 22 mins a night

Wisconsin: one frosh who plays 10 mins a night

Michigan: two frosh who play about 8 mins a night

Ucla: no frosh

So again, it is the norm for frosh to play from day 1 in bball. It is the exception that they dont. This isnt football

What are you talking about lol?

We’re giving our freshman wayyy more minutes than all of those teams you listed. And it’s not even close.

Also Pikiell hasn’t really ever been shy to play freshman in past seasons.

He clearly had reasons on why Grant wasn’t ready to play (maybe bc he didn’t play last year…). My guess, knowing Pikiell is that he couldn’t pick up the defense side of things.

You can say he was probably too loyal to the guys he brought in (Martini, Hayes etc) thinking they would put it together and was a bit late on giving Grant a chance.

But this notion that he doesn’t play Freshman is pretty silly.

Well they had JWill and now Ace around the team with the flu so it doesn’t seem too unbelievable they did the same with Harper.

Mono is not an STD.

Maybe Ace has AIDS and JWill has syphilis lol what are we doing here

No doctor would ok a trip with a bad case of flu. Period. He didn’t have a 2 week flu.

I’m not saying he was watching. Just if you announce that a specific player may be a little under the weather right before a game word might spread around. Why would anyone do that? We were coming off a big win where the team was finally at close to full strength. Pike was probably commenting generally from that perspective. I see nothing wrong with saying that even if he knew Ace woke up not feeling too great. Again - Ace wasn’t listed as questionable. It seemed pretty obvious he got worse and worse during the game and eventually just couldn’t keep going. Obviously Pike didn’t know that was going to happen. I’m still missing what the big issue is here?
He wouldn’t .
But why even mention anything about the team’s health at that point?. It’s not like bardo was asking some hard hitting questions. Pike could have just gave a generic , BS answer. Instead , he went out of his way to mention how the team was finally healthy. Then an hour later his star player has the flu mid game and he knew about it at the time of the bardo interview…or so he then says post game.
It doesn’t add up.

No, not a big deal. But Pike wouldn’t specifically say the team was healthy if Ace has the flu. Canned, regurgitated excuse.

If you think Willard was watching BTN

Why bring up anything about the health then in the pregame interview if you know your star player has the flu ?

Research Spending

So…more downward pressure on university budgets…placing RU at even more of a disadvantage.
not really. it cripples federally funded biomedical research everywhere.

It’s an anti-science, anti-education flex and sticking it to NIH for the Covid recommendations, all for the low IQ yahoo voter base despite the obvious benefits and truths of those things.

Setting the bar low

I really hope Pike realizes he’s not cut out for long term success in this new era and leaves with our thanks for giving us some hope for a few years. I’ve come to realize that no matter what happens he gets another year- but if he loses Grant, Sommerville and cant get a decent roster next year he will be gone.
We will throw you a hell of a party if you leave as well.
